...then what should me next job I bring to 75 be? Should I just keep leveling my thief for merits or should I farm my bum off and buy ubar stuff for my thief?

I've been gone for like 6 months and now I find myself wandering back into this place which seems like a paradise from afar. I don't know much about anything. I don't know if using Azaril's windower humbly will be grounds to get permabanned for. I don't know how the economy is after these months. I don't know about the playerbase is anymore. Are there still gobs of nekkid RMTs leveling EVERYWHERE? I just don't know.

I'm not sure what to do when I get back. Maybe just farm farm farm! Then I might burn myself out on that aspect of the game yet. I need to find out what is profitable for alchemists again. :( -sigh-

Just for discussion's sake, should I be leveling another job (if so, which job), or should I continue to advance with thief?

If you love Thief, stick with it.

Assuming you levelled all the appropriate subs to 37, did you particularly enjoy levelling any of them? If war, nin, etc all seem boring, perhaps try a mage job? Even if you get bored with them after a while, having levelled mage jobs can come in handy. Taking blm to at least 18 gets you Warp. Taking whm to 36 gets you access to the 3 basic Teleport spells. Both are quite helpful when you just need to get around solo.

If you aren't into the mage thing, maybe you should take a look at the gear you have for thf and see what else you can do with it. That would be a frugal way to get another job to 75. Really, no one can tell YOU the right job for you to level. You just gotta play with them all and find something that works. You don't have to invest a lot of resources or time to take any job to a high enough level to start getting an idea of how it works. Take something that seems like you could see yourself doing it, take it to 30 or so (or best bet to 37 for possible subbing to another job) then if you decide it's not for you, you haven't really lost anything.

Go BLM. I found that burstin as a BLM on THF closed skill chains are one of the most satisfying things to do in this game. Well other than being the WAR that uses Mistral Axe to open the badass light that BLMs eat up.

tyvm

A majority of my jobs are 20+ besides the ones I couldn't stand soloing. DRK, PLD, BST, COR, BLU, SAM, BRD, and MNK. I'll just go lurk some thief based board over at alla or go check out some equipment guides.

I dread the 22m gil gain needed for the blau dolch. (I'm not even sure thats one of the better knives. Gotta go check that out.)

Blau is like 5mil tops nowadays, if not less.

Blau is cheap now luckily. Maybe I should get on that...

Blau is unquestionably my favorite dagger and the one I've had best results with. On the same note, I love sirocco as an offhand. I don't even think i'd trade pharpe/blau over my current blau/SK combo.

I'd think nin would be slightly similar, both attack absurdly fast. If you don't like tanking, maybe try mnk? What exactly do you like about thf? If it's the fast attack speed, try the 2 mentioned 2 sentences ago, if you like the SATAWS Rapeage, maybe try DRK or SAM. If you just like SCing, try the other DDs, mainly DRK and SAM though. If it's spike damage that gets your E-Peen hard, try out RNG.

Spike damage would be BLM or DRK as well.

Yeah I wasn't thinking about mage jobs, lol. And I felt I mentioned DRK too much, no one likes emo though :D

I'll end up sticking with thief. I just remember runnning out of patience (lol I havn't even started yet) looking to catch up on COP and TOAU and ZM missions... not to mention the regular missions.
Nobody needs a thief. (redundant) PERIOD

Ive run into this problem quite often but the best way to go about being only THF is to know whats going on. Research and explore some of the areas prior to doing missions helps alot. THF isn't too bad on ZM and TOAU, However on CoP I had to lvl NIN for 3-5+. Your NIN looks to be above lvl 37 so that shouldnt be too much of a problem. You really just have to make yourself useful and convince people what you can do as THF.
