Taken from a post over at GameFAQ's. Wow.

"The people that can't make those million-gil items vastly outnumber the people who can. Not to mention that Sniper's Ring prices are controlled by gil sellers camping Stroper Chyme, and on Fairy they took down Simurgh a few days ago, so Haubergeon isn't far behind.

Let's use the Haubergeon as an example. Right now it runs on Fairy for around 3.3 million, I believe. It's not a lot of profit, because the Damascus Ingot is around 2.8 million itself."

I really doubt the unusually high price of the haubergeon is due to gilsellers. Partly because they "recently" took down Sirmugh, and partly because the ingot is impossible to monopolize.

Right now the ingot drops from Sirmugh, Roc, Byakko, and Kirin, plus it comes from some of the 30 kindred's seals BCNMs. While it may be possible for a gilseller company to get a monopoly on Sirmugh and Roc, they can't monopolize Byakko and Kirin, as they are triggered spawn HNMs used in the ZMs. Also, it's impossible for anyone to monopolize any BCNMs, as anyone can fight them provided they have enough seals.

Also, I would like to see the origional post on GameFAQs, can someone give me a link to it?

I'd have to dig it up later or something. Not sure where it went. It had started out as something totally different.

Oh, and the Haub prices was more a side note of just plain holy crap expensive prices. The focus of this post was the fact that gilsellers not only claimed, but took down an HNM successfully. And to my knowledge, the ingot is a rare drop off of the gods. I have yet to see it drop once.

What he said. Simurgh and Roc arent the only things that drop the ingot for hauby. Im sure they cant monopolize god HNMs and BCNMs XD

People don't trigger those God HNM for profit they are for abjuration mainly. Because of this they will not affect the prices of the NMs that are one a day drop because hunting them for gil alone is a huge huge effort and the gil is spread by a large linkshell. Like Genbu was a force pop but it was so hard to pop him due to hunting romaeve waters they needed to throw in the KSBC to lower the crazy prices on the claw.

Simurgh is pretty easy though... a group of lvl 75 noobs could take him down. I see it happen all the time :|

But he drops good money, so all types will be found camping it.

This person is coming from gamefaqs or what ever. Most likely one of those ignorant fools who have no idea what a gil seller is.

im probaly going to get flammed bigtime for this but.. it seems like people everywhere get mad at people for mentioning gil sellers monopolizing any part of the economy but.. they are doing it and it seems you guys are defending them?.. i dunno

Not sure about the others that posted here, but I want to say that I'm not "defending" gilsellers. Just stating that, while they are annoying, the problem is not as severe as others seem to think.
