They have always offered this service. It entices charitable people to GIVE them gil. You can bet IGE gets something out of it or they wouldn't do it or it's just a scam to get those softies to chum up their gil for nothing.

Well... heres a new strat to getting rid of gil sellers. And i guess helping people is good too.

If enough virtual currency is donated IGE will have to lower prices and possibly drive the gilsellers out of business. This would only work tho if they donate the amount +10% that they will sell the Gil for not the amount they'd normally buy it +10% for.

Heres an example...
If you were to donate 50M gil they could send the charity $302.50 (275 is the price that they pay for 50M + the 10% bonus they promise). Then they turn around and sell that for $775 and they still make $472 profit.

On the other hand if they donate the price that they sell it for it would be $852.50. This would actually result in them taking a loss of $77.50 as well as possibly lead to deflation of the value of gil in IGE money which would deter gil sellers.

If they did it the second way which would actually be them not making a profit off of a charitable organization it would actually be a good idea to donate to overwhelm them with gil and force them to lower prices as well as tacking on an additional 10% loss for them. However i highly doubt (like 99% sure) that they would ever do such a thing cause that would be the right thing by not making a profit off of a charity.

So IMO even more scummy than ever.

Well, I am weary about things like this. I am really big into helping others out so I know for a fact that if you advertise like that you have to be recognized by certain associations. Now being that they say they are giving to Mercy and not being on their website as part of their corporate partners is a red flag http://www.mercycorps.org/aboutus/partners/691

Don't get suckered in by this. A lot of people who are compassionate about things like this often get suckered by people who dont care. To find out if something is legit do two things, First go to this website and look for the Charity name( http://www.charitynavigator.org/ ). Next, if you find the charity, go to their partners list and see if the people who say they are donating to that charity are even known or recognized by that charity.

As of now, no IGE is not on the partners list. So beware.

Everytime the IGE subject comes up I feel the urge to pull out the QCDN affiliate link from back in December ..., good times ....

Ah well. An email to MercyCorps could probably determine whether IGE is indeed donating to them. If I'd care enough I'd write it, alas, I don't.

I dont care if IGE cures cancer....RMT is wrong wrong wrong. XD

I decided to check it out, a few steps into it they ask

"Please enter your personal information if you would like to receive a thank you acknowledgement from the charity"

I'm pretty sure it's legit, however almost every company out there donates to charity, the more evil they are, the more likely. After all if it ever hits the news, "IGE, a company who has donated thousands of dollars to africa is being sued" sounds alot better than "IGE is being sued". It's basically done for PR probably.

Sure let me just pull some gil outta my ass so IGE can sell it to other people, fuckin dickheads

I wish...its more like $16 for 1 mil

Probably just for tax benefits or other incentives companies get by donating overseas

That exactly what it is. They get big tax right off by donating to charities, That why love that tobaco company comerial about how the tabaco company broadcast that they where giving money to people. Reason why make them look good and hugh tax cut.

that charity is really an old news lol just barely anyone reads them, i'm sure IGE do give 10%, don't think they'll lie about that or else they'll be sue for false info and such lol

but if they are really donating 10%, then gilseller are doing the right thing lol, and so do gilbuyer lol, helping people like in Katrina XD
