Well for one thing, I don't have a wife. Or a social life. I've always been kind of a loner, I'm much more comfortable by myself than in social situations; I don't like alcohol and being in a bar makes me feel violently awkward. I have a couple good friends I see once or twice a month but other than that, it's work -> ffxi -> maybe read a book -> sleep -> repeat. Sometimes I'll cycle tv in to replace ffxi, but right now all my shows are on hiatus (Venture Brothers Season 3, where are you?)
Also, I limit myself to very specific goals. I decided from the minute I installed the game that my first job to 75 would be BLM, and I won't let anything stop me. So, I've got RDM to 37 (subjob 1), I'm working on WHM, and after that it will be nothing but BLM until I can merit on those flans I keep hearing about. The only deviation I take from leveling is things which will make leveling easier, i.e. farming equipment, getting rank 5, making friends and having fun so I don't burn out. So I think I can be 75 BLM before Resident Bush & Co. arrest all the democrats, establish martial law and begin their third term.
