I plan on getting either a PSP or a DS once I get my bonus in February. I don't know which to get. Both systems have games coming that I'd love to get. PSP has Prince of Persia coming, it has the Metal Gear, FFT: Lion wars, etc... The DS has alot more Final Fantasy and a few other games I'd like. What's your opinion on the DS Vs the PSP... Which would you recommend I get...

I personally like the PSP :P Here's a list of games I know to be fun (from first hand experience) as well as games that really seem fun to me. Not even a list of all the games it has, just all the games seem good and games I know to be good. (lots of sports games it has are left out cause I'm not a big fan of them XD)

Games I know to be fun:
Legend of Heros I & II (good story, good characters, gameplay is fun but can get annoyingly repetative)
Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light (again, good game, good story, but has that grind)
Field Commander (it's like Advanced Wars, don't say it's a copy though, let's face it, Advanced Wars isn't the first of its kind)
Lumines I & II(Fun puzzle game)
Metal Gear Sold Ac!d I & II
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops (HOLY CRAP FUN!)
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
PoPoLaCrois (really fun, a port, but fun)
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (yes, it was ported, so far JP only)
Generation of Chaos (made by same people who made disgaea, more like makai kingdom, fun game play, story a bit lacking, still over all good)
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth (port, dur :P)
Socom I & II (both fun of coarse, just like most Socom games)
Dynasty Warriors (Dynasty Warriors can get dull after awhile on any system, but still a fun game :P)
Armored Core: Formula Front (building own mech = fun)
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (it's a fun game, specially online, but ya, on other systems)
Breath of Fire III
Myst (old game, on the PC, but so great)
Silent Hill: Origins
Twisted Metal: Head-On (good ol' Twisted Metal)

Games that look promising:
Final Fantasy Tactics (we know it's fun)
Suikoden I + II (Ya, it's coming, good story, I hope they improve the gameplay though)
Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core looks amazing (true, I can't say if it's good yet :P)
Gangs of London (seems like it could be a fun game)
Medal of Honor: Heroes (Medal of Honor games are pretty fun and this one looks like it's just as good as the others)
Call of Duty 3 (also coming to PSP, seems like fun, granted, on other systems)
I can't remember the names but there's a Capcom Classics game coming out (or is out)
Sega Genesis Collection (all these awesome old Genesis games for the PSP on one UMD)
Coded Arms
Devil May Cry (yes, it's coming to PSP)
Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai (lol another DBZ game, but still, for the DBZ fighter games it looks fun)
Family Guy (looks kinda cheesy but amusingly fun)
Guilty Gear Judgement (weeee guilty gear)
Harvest Moon Portable and Innocent Life
Infected (never played, looked amusing)
Justice League Heroes (another multi-system game but seems fun)
Kingdom of Paradise
Killzone: Liberation
Makai Wars (oh sexy)
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (like the justice league heroes thing, other systems still seems fun though)
Prince of Persia Revelations
Scarface: Money. Power. Respect.
Silent Hill Experience (not a game I think.. not really sure.. but seems interesting.. it's some sorta interactive thing)
State of Emergency 2 (not sure if it's great since the first was well.. meh.. but it could be)
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Tales of the World (wootz)
Tenchu: Time of the Assassins (Tenchu games are awesome)
Tenchi no Mon 2: Bosouden (sequel to Kingdom of Paradise)
Tales of Phantasia: Full Voice Edition (from what I can tell, right now, just in JP)
The Sims 2 (Granted, I'd prefer the PC version more, but it's impressive what they have on the PSP)
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
Untold Legends: The Warrior's Code
X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse (also on more than one system, but fun)
Zero Hour (don't know too much about it, but it looks proimising)

also PSP does have movies capabilities, MP3 player (essentially), online, you can haxorz it to play NES, SNES, Genesis, N64 games (more emulators are out too for other systems but I'm not entirely sure, I've not checked too much), and a PS1 emulator which Sony is officially making should be out soon (they announced it at E3).

I don't like most of the DS games, personally, but I don't know ALL the DS games out there. I will agree that the DS seems to have a more online community than the PSP as far as I can tell. So if you want to play online a lot with your handheld and enjoy the DS games you might want a DS more.

I didn't know about Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core I'm going to have to look into this

It's a game which you take control of Zack and his works in the Soldier First Class. It deals around the time where Sephiroth killed all of Cloud's hometown people.

There are lots of other good games though :P some ports (though personally I find handhelds to be more of a port system anyways where the consoles are where the revolutions take place), some are sequels or prequels, some are JP only right now (disgaea! T.T), but there are good original games for the PSP which are fun :P some have their downfalls (Blade Dancer having a rather annoying grind for a single player game, but still fun or Metal Gear Solid Ac!d and the card system) but over all I find them worth it. Hell.. most of, if not all, of the popular games on the DS are remakes or sequels/prequels from what I can tell. Let's face it.. Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 on the DS, etc. Definitely doesn't mean it's not fun though. I'd get a DS if I had money cause there are games for it I would enjoy playing, just, the PSP has more that I enjoy (more than just games).

I only own the DS of the two so I'll try and mention some games I like and/or that other people like to my knowledge. I play with handhelds only occasionally though so someone can probably do better than me listing games.

Final Fantasy III - Only on the DS and pretty oldschool. Finally a FF game that's difficult to streamroll.

New Super mario bros is definitely a must buy

Advance wars is a great game that has tons of replay value. The dualscreens really take this series farther and make more interesting battles possible.

Ability to play all the cool GBA FF ports.

Mario kart is obviously pretty popular. Mix and match racers and differing karts. The online is ok by handheld standards but pales compared to what consoles and the PC have.

Mario 64 DS is definitely good. The added characters is a fun touch, but 15 or the added stars aren't really new missions. They're simply an added 7th star in each stage in which you do the same thing in all 15 stages basiclly to get the star. The added mini worlds in which you find the imprisoned characters are pretty cool though.

Animal crossing - bleh gamecube version is way better.

That's all I really have. I don't play handhelds much so I only buy what I really really want when it comes to handhelds. Mario and luigi -partners in time I hear is a really awsome game. And I'm really excited about buying the new kirby game. The top screen is where you play, and the bottom screen is kirby's stomach where you use the stylus to mix and match items for his powers.

I had both, but I gave my PSP to my little brother because I didn't really use it.

I love the DS lite. New Super Mario Bros, Wario Ware, Trauma Center, Mario Hoops, Mario Kart, Advanced Wars, games from my GBA library, and the new Metroid, although it got a little boring towards the end.

Mario Hoops is so amazingly fun. I can seriously play that game forever and never get tired of it. Wario Ware is awesome too, but you can only slice and blow for so long. (Thats what she said...?)

Trauma Center was the first game I got when i got my DS, and to this day it is still my favorite.

Honestly, I was super excited when the PSP was dropped on us, but I never really got into it. There's more stuff worth playing for it now, but I'm glad I stuck with my DS.

Thanks for all the info guys. I've decided I'm probably going to go with the PSP...There's just more games I like on it then the DS. Also I like the fact that I can play MP3 and watch movies on it also.

Watch out for the movie watching. I got a neck cramp watching advent children one day.

how did you do that? XD
