Important Message for All Dancers:

Urat, your threads never fail to disappoint.

"A lot" is the number between "some" and "a shitload" in the fantasy world of Vagueland!

10% according to wiki. I never knew this and looking back on lower level parties wish I'd known. It's like adding a second quickstep.

Talking to other level 75 dancers in game a lot didn't know this, so I posted it. I'm sure there are a number of you that know gravity lowers evasion, but there are just as many that most likely didn't.

I just tossed it out as an fyi, you know?

Uh, it adds a Gravity effect. Gravity lowers evasion, too. I don't see how anyone couldn't know this, lol.

I'm assuming you're talking about the Gravity lowering evasion, in which case, absolutely - that should be common knowledge lol.

The FYI is a little silly. Why don't you use the thread to talk a little more in detail than just an FYI.

It's kinda like, FYI: SE charges you cash money to play this game. Yeah...And? Get to the point.

Not saying you have to, Urat, but come on man. Show us some brilliance!!!

A lot of people don't know about it apparently D=

common knowledge aint got shiat on me

I thought this was obvious. I've used Desperate Flourish ever since I got it up until the stun move which I use a lot as well.

No excuses Avi, you have a Red Mage in your avatar, ergo you should know this :|

I'm trying to figure out how one finds out gravity = -eva via passing conversation...

I haven't leveled red mage so I've never read up on the spell, and I've only done the occasional BC etc, so I honestly never knew that gravity lowers eva.

"So I'm thinking of leveling my s-"
"Did you know gravity lowers evasion by 10%?"
"Wha?"

Anywho, need to stop posting late at night cause this is what happens...

or you could use the /check fonction. swap acc gear until the mob changes from "even evasion" to "low evasion". then gravity it, and you'll see you need 10 less acc gear to make it check low evasion.

At lower lvls I used to sub thf and used this (flourishes and steps stack with SA, making them auto-hit). It was like giving the party sushi. The dagger skill + belt was also nice with /thf.

Yeah I know, but what I'm saying is it didn't seem likely too me, gravity appears to be the only spell that gives us two effects, one of which being hidden... Thus why would I bother testing something I didn't think existed

Makes me wonder if other things, mainly the time spells, give us other boosts we don't notice. If gravity lowers evasion, does movement speed+ gear / movement + spells like mazurka give us a boost to eva...?

Mayhaps haste and slow do something too aside from increase attack speed. Increase/lower acc? or evasion like gravity?

I'm guessing this has all already being tested too.

Many people use different FFXI resource sites on the internet, such as the one below, to determine how their job abilities or spells work.

ffxiclopedia said:
Dance
Weighs down a target with a low rate of success. Requires one Finishing Move.
Obtained: Dancer Level 30
Finishing Moves Used: 1
Recast Time: 00:20
Duration: ??

Notes/Description
Desperate Flourish causes an evasion down effect like that of the spell Gravity.
Does not stack with Gravity.
Does stack with Sneak Attack
Accuracy seems to be increased with every daze caused by a step currently on the enemy. Therefore moves such as Quickstep affect its success rate.
If landed, kills off Chigoes, awarding no EXP.

Before creating an FYI thread like this, you might check some of those resource sites to see if the information is already posted there. If it is, chances are that most people already know about it, and it may not merit its own FYI thread.

If you're concerned that people don't know what the dances do, use those resource sites and make a useful little guide for those new to dancer. Something that starts like:

Level 5 - Drain Samba - While active, any successful melee attack made by the Dancer will inflict a Drain daze upon the target; any subsequent melee attack made by a member of the Dancer's party that deals at least 2 points of damage may restore a small number of hit points to that character. A hit for 1 damage or less will drain 0.

Level 15 - Curing Waltz - Cures ~69-94~ HP.
Formula (for DNC):
Amount Healed = floor(((Target's VIT + Caster's CHR)*0.250 + 60),1)

Level 20 - Desperate Flourish - Makes a viable replacement for /WAR, however it generates significantly less enmity than Provoke. The strength of the effect depends on the number of finishing moves used. Seems to generate as much enmity as Flash.

Be sure to list you source(s) so people can read more on what you're talking about if they would like.

If you make informed, thoughtful posts, people are less likely to respond with things like, "moron." You could still get the message out to those that want to hear it, but it'd sure be less of a headache for everyone involved, including those who have had to clean up this thread.
