I don't really follow football so much.. so I ask.. why are the patriots considered "cheaters"? XD best I knew is that they got lucky with injuries that other teams had when they played em or something.

So disappointed in the outcome of this season. Not going to even bother watching the Superbowl since I hate both of the teams competing for the title.

They filmed their opponent's play callers to pick up their plays.

The hilarity of the situation is that even after they were caught, they have still gone 18-0 whereas in the previous seasons they had no such perfection. And before anyone accuses me of being a fanboy, I don't even watch the NFL. College onry!

They'll end up being thought of like barry bonds vs hank aaron

They probably could have done it without the help, but theres always that small chance that it wouldn't have happened.

Not even close. Theres a difference between one guy taking performance enhancing drugs and a team being caught once taping signs. And entire team is much more likely to slip up and fail, rather than a single person focused on a single goal. (Also... Bonds wouldnt have broken that record without performance drugs. He was a smaller guy, base stealer, RBI type hitter. You don't gain that much body mass that late in your career without help.)

They taped once, they got caught. That sucks. However, it still doesn't say anything about the fact that they have dominated a majority of their opponents this season. Regardless of the signs taped, that wont turn a good team into a great team. It may change the course of a few plays, but the individuals playing are still average. The Patriots are not so much average.

NOTE: I'm not really into football, but Ive been a Patriots fan my whole life. This is just my opinion, trying to start a huge debate won't get anywhere.

They went undefeated in regular season a few years ago if I am not mistaken and I believe they won the superbowl that year as well. I want to say it was the year Brady took over for Bledsoe(sp?), but I am not a huge sports fan(I'm from NE tho) so I cannot say for sure.

Taping signs and being able to predict plays before they happen is huge if I understand what happened correctly. It would turn any team into a better team since they can react to the play faster and focus on the ball more. I think you have it a little reverse. Taping impacts the entire team which works together more than baseball does. In baseball, a single player doping mainly effects his hit record, but somewhat to a lesser extent the outfield as well when their is more teamwork. However, since its just a single person doping, his impact cannot bring the entire team up a level, just himself.

From what I was told, the coach of the other team who pointed out the cheating was an assistant coach for Belicheck at one time so he knew exactly what and where to look for it. It's also said to be very common, but then again, I really wouldn't know. Most of the people in NE really don't care either way, they're just happy the Pats are winning.

Well... Bonds whole controversy is just about the home run record, not his team winning. So his drug-taking allowed him to become a "better" player, and therefore reach the record.

Taping signals would not facilitate improved playing in the same way, you simply might know more of the opposition's thinking. If your a crappy player, you're still going to be a crappy player. I'm just saying that if you look at the Patriots, they are excellent on an individual basis. That is something that signal taping cannot achieve, I think.

However, like you, I don't know that much about football. So I could be wrong.

HOLY SHIT DID YOU GUYS HEAR.. TOM BRADY OVER DOSED! ZOMG... if only a dream come true, i hate the patriots -_-

Taping defensive signals is not as "huge" as people make it out to be. Honestly, that gives you a small chance of being able to predict what defense they will be playing, which good quarterbacks can often times do anyways, just by gauging what formation the defense takes ahead of time, compared to the film the QB has watched of that defenses in the past.

After getting caught taping defensive signals, the Pats have gone 16-0, which has never been done before. 14-0 has, but never 16-0. After being caught. Without cheating. Anyone who thinks this season has been achieved by cheating is nothing but a fan who thinks their team should have won, but they didn't. Anyone with an objective piece of football sense realizes that the pats have had a perfect regular season without cheating, and are just flat out the best team in the NFL, and one of the best teams ever.

'Nuff said, Pats by 13 in the Superbowl. 34-21

Um no. Yes they won the Super Bowl that season, no they did not go undefeated during the regular season. This year is the first time any NFL team has gone undefeated during the regular season since 1972.

No, they got caught once, other teams have accused the patriots of doing this before, jets were just the first to catch them.

I wouldn't say that their undefeated season means any less because of it, I mean its not like they wouldn't have beaten the jets anyways most likely, the jets suck.

but still, fuck the pats and the giants, don't like either one of em. Chargers vs green bay would be a much more interesting super bowl imo, oh well theres always next season
