i started playing the game because it sucked just sitting around watching my BF play.

but I've been in the same situation before, and ironically, it was due to the site Kyle got his signature pics from...
 
i'll tell u. i was a member of SG.com for over a year. but she hates that site with a passion. i left SG for her to lift the tension it was bringing to our relationship. i miss it sometimes but elph is more important to me then SG.com. thats it in a nutshell.
 
that sucks... i had an ex-gf who i still messed around with while i played FFXI... she hated it, but i didnt give a fuck cause i liked playing it... but obviously, there are some things in real life that are more gratifying than what a computer game can give you if you get my drift...

but after a few months i just gave up...

on her, hahahaha...
 
I can relate on the military standpoint. I've spent the last year in Korea working long hours, so whenever I've been on it's been during JP primetime. Only time I've been able to party was during weekends if I woke up a bit early. That has kinda screwed me a bit in meeting new NA players, joining parties, and being able to get cool stuff done. At least there was the BST job though. I may still be rank 5 with no Promys done, but at least I'm a 61 BST with full AF. 8)

From the GF standpoint, since I don't have one, I can pour as much free time into FFXI as I desire. :lol: However, I hope I meet that special someone soon, I need her in my life.....

Luckily it seems as though DRG has started to raise in popularity. I've been getting more invites then I ever have ever. Everytime I log in i'm able to get a pty within 10 to 20mins. So I may just reach my goal ^^-b

I can relate to the navy side. My Husband (character: Bodhi) is in the navy. He is on an amphib so his schedule is a little bit differant, more like out a month, in 2 week, out 1.5 months, in a month etc. Stupid Navy :evil: . Anyway, it really puts a drain into character progress. I dont like to lvl ahead or do missions and such without him, so my chicky suffers from it too. When he is home it is like a race to get all the things done that he wants to do.

I was like your wife and hated the FFXI. Thought it looked so boring. But oneday while he was underway, I picked it up and made my char, just too see what the draw was. Needless to say it sucked me in. Now we play together all the time, he jokes saying it is our "Quality time". Maybe your wife will get a wild hair and try it out one day, one can hope right?

If she ever does have her hit me up, we can have an online b*tch fest about the navy 8) lol
 
Never had a g/f before, never will either. simple reason, can't find one that shares the same interest as me, why make your life miserable when you wanna do this and your opposite wanna do that and each "may" hate whetever the other is doing. lol. complicated heh.
Anyways i like ffxi, never gonna quit. i would like to find a g/f that likes ffxi as well but as far as i know, i'm the only person playing ffxi from my country so guess i'm alone then ^^;;
 
I'm also in the navy, trizzip, I'm a AM. Odd thing is I'm also a DRG O_o
weird huh? Anyhow, my wife and i play FFXI together, but we also set at
least one day to go out and have fun. It works out pretty well. Anyhow she was like your wife, hating FFXI and always telling me to limit my time,
But, she found a few friends on the game and now she plays with me. Pretty awesome how it turned out. By the way which ship are you attached to? I'm shore based so i don't go out on ships except during dets.
But I'm in Norfolk go figure >< Anyhow, nice to see another drg in the navy (WE RULE!) JUST GOT MY AF2!!! w00t

i only read the original post, not any following posts, but all i have to say is this:

if you are seriously SOOOO distressed because you have to choose between your wife, and this game, you are REALLY fucked up.

Drop the game and spend some good, quality time with your wife. If you arent willing to do that, you shouldn't be married.
 
Well I can tell you from experience that you need to be careful!!!! I have seen more than one marriage end due to this game. I also have seen more that a few marriages end because of the military. Combine the two and it can get UGLY. :cry:

You just have to understand if your leavin for 6 months it might not be such a good idea to play as you like. remember the time you have now is for her. I might get flamed for this but..... there are many on this server that are going through the same problem you are so you are not alone.

Been deployed 18 months out of the last 24...... just be careful.
