Movie Inception

Loved the movie.

If you are sad like me (yes I like to get my money's worth) and stayed until the end of the credits ...

Spoiler:
The spinning totem falls over, you hear the noise. To be honest I loved how it cuts at the end, there was a wave of disappointed gasps across the cinema XD!

I just got back from finally seeing this movie. I really enjoyed it. A friend of mine described it to be as a mix of Oceans 11 and The Matrix and for the most part he was pretty spot on with that. I waited to read the spoilers in this thread until I had seen the movie and reading them now, makes me want to go see the movie again just to verify all that. Though, even though I didn't noticed the discussed item, it was still fairly easy to tell what was reality from the dream with exception to the ending. That's where I kinda went, "Hey.. wait a minute."

Spoiler:
The end part did kind of seem a bit like a dream, perhaps it was because of the slow motion of everything. You can argue that it showed how he got to each point, but really, aside from the airport there was no transition from there to the house. He meets his father in law at the airport, talks to him briefly and starts walking and the camera just pans to them being in the house walking at almost the same speed. Also, while I do feel like the top would have toppled due to how it was wobbling, which would have meant it was in fact not a dream. The transition from the two areas still bothers me. I'll have to watch the ending more closely next time, but I didn't notice a difference in look of age of the children as was mentioned in a previous post. I will also be checking for the wedding ring aspect as well. That is something I never even noticed at all in the film.

About the transition and the children:

Spoiler:
It was simply done that way to get to the important parts of the ending. There is nothing exciting about him going from the airport to the house. The bulk of the movie was over, and it was simply a way get the ending done. The movie was long enough as it was, why waste more time on things that aren't important when all you need to do is finish it off. The children were definitely different. They even have 2 sets of kids in the credits. We don't know exactly how long Cobb was gone for so it was hard to say how old they should've been.

As far as I'm concerned:

Spoiler:
The whole film until the end where Cobb wakes up is a dream. He lost his wife, was depressed, so flew elsewhere. However, he wanted to see his children back home, so got on a plane, and fell asleep. <Film Starts Here>. When he actually wakes up on the plane, he's all "whoa what the fuck, why are those people smiling at me?!" and then gets off the plane and goes home. This would explain why his "friends" don't speak to him there after he wakes up, because they don't know him. Those people smiling at him were just being poilite.

XD

That's an interesting take on the film too, but doesn't explain why he has a totem that he'd continue to keep with him and spin when he got home.
Spoiler:
If it was all just a dream, then it really wouldn't have held any real significance once he woke up, he would have likely just laid it on the table and went to see his kids. It also doesn't explain the reaction of... fuck.. forgot his name, but the asian guy. He looks almost surprised to have woken up, and immediately grabs his phone, as per their arrangement.

Spoiler:
People are arguing that he couldn't have woken up at the end because there was no "kick" that would force him awake. I don't know about you, but if I had a gun drawn on me, that's a mental "kick" for me.

Spoiler:
Killing yourself in limbo brings you back. The only reason people have trouble with it is because they get lost in it and think its reality. Cobb didn't have trouble with it because he figured it out last time. This was part of the theme of the movie, him not losing a sense of himself in the dreams.

I saw this movie on opening week. It was ok but greatly over hyped in my opinion. Seeing the two Batman movies that was directed by Christopher Nolan I thought I might be a fan of his so I went to see this even though I thought The Prestigue sucked, turns out I don't really care for this guy's work much I suppose. I'll stick to his Batman films and may check out his Superman flick as well.
