India

Its really scary because I've been to all of those places on multiple occasions, even been to one of those hotels D:

Terrorism is truly sad. Condolences to victims and their families.

Yeah, it is scary.

Edit: Hey according to some terrorist groups, that was the main reason.

such sad day today .... i dont believe what those guy think ...

It really is twisted how people can take teachings of peace, do the exact opposite, and still believe they're carrying out their god's will.

That's religion for ya. And this came out on Thanksgiving of all days :(

You dont need religion to be an asshole. It's just the most common excuse to do stuff you were going to do already.

Religion is just used as a scapegoat.

Truer words have never been spoken.

If you wanna believe in religion, fine. I don't care. Practice your faith, just don't force it on others, that's fine. However, when you start being violent and killing in the name of religion, ANY religion, that's wrong.

It's not even in the name of, this usually is the point where people take what they want from teachings, warp and twist them to meet their own needs. then fall back on preachings for justification.

This incident had nothing to do with believing in a higher being.. it was plain and simple hate.

I'm not religious.. but may they Burn in Hell for what they've done.

I wouldn't say religion is being used as a scapegoat. It may be being used to deceive the gullible fools carrying out the actual terror attacks, but they, as a general rule, believe that they're carrying out "God's will".

That's not scapegoating.

Religion is one of those things whose time has long since passed. The sooner we can convince people that there are no gods, the sooner we can move forward as a species.

I'm talking about terrorism in general, not just this case. Take Ireland for example.

Well that's the justification for the suicide bombings. They believe they are doing their God's will and they'll be rewarded for it.

I'm waiting for Christian's to take the 10 commandments too literally and start "punishing" those who don't worship the christian god.

But on-topic, I more meant that Mire's thought of religion being a scapegoat was true. Like you said, they fall back on teachings they warped to suit their own ends and used "god" as justification.

The day that happens is the day the Earth becomes a Utopia.

You're mistaking scapegoat for justification.

And yes, people are willing to kill for any number of equally specious reasons. Each one we eliminate will move us forward.
