I was fortunate enough to get help on obtaining my AF coffer key.
reference post

I don't have a map as yet because I believe that you need the coffer to
get one. Whatever the case may be on that part of it. I have printouts
available from mysterytour and from alla showing 4 maps that make up
the temple.

What I need help with is someone who is familiar to post and explain what
are the connections on this map? There are around 5 jungle entrances,
coupled with the Den of Rancor multiple zones. It really does get
confusing.

I'm not asking for a personal escort but won't turn it down if I get one.
I just need to know a little more about the place than the maps let on.
I warped out of there twice because of the granite doors. I had to drop
invis. to go through. ..aggro...warp...try again...

Following, is a link to the map picture. Any info on navigation through
here is much appreciated.

Temple of Ugly

By the way, it's not all that ugly. It was my first few times in there and
it was very interesting.

MWAHAHA!!!

Yes, you are starting to see why people hate this coffer. The key is easy, the coffer is not!

Anyway, someone can probably explain this better than me, but basically enter at the main entrance and take a handful of right turns until you get to a set of steps leading up to a zone. Once you zone out, you'll be on a balcony type thing overlooking the jungle.

Find the other entrance. When you zone in, you'll know you're in the right spot if you take a right and follow the hall a short distance to a wooden gate surrounded by sight aggro mobs. Most of the coffer spawn points are in the rooms here.

The really sucky part is that the halls are littered with sight aggro. Get your timing down. Wait for backs to turn, cancel invis, start to re-invis, and at 50% of cast, click the door. The good news is is that the crawlers here dont seem to aggro sound. Good luck!!

excellent tip on door-tagging while invising. Thanks.
So far no death. It's fun temping fate, hope I make it.

I'll print your response out and compare against the maps. Maybe
that will help me get a great visual.

Not to mention the Sozu campers tend to go pick the coffers after they kill him, he's about a 3-6 hour spawn or so I think so they are constantly roaming the halls looking to pick.

Enjoy! :(

All the coffer spawns are on the 3rd map down (on your maps...)

As previously said, you enter at Point 1 on the first map (this is the only accessable entrance) and keep right until you exit at point 2. From there (you're back in the jungle) you head to your left a short distance (don't go up any stairs or down any drops) and you'll reenter the temple at I-5 of the third map.

Unfortunately there are 5 coffer spawns that aren't readily accessable, and when the coffer ends up there, it tends to stay there for awhile...

There are two spawns at E-7 and E-8 (on the way to the sacrificial chamber). You need a Ugglepiah Key (Tonberry Cutters, I think?) to get past the door at E-7 to check these spawns...

There are two spawns in or near the large room around J-10. You need to kill the guardian statue (EP to a L75) to open the door to access the room).

There is one spawn in the paintbrush room at I-7 (which is again accessed through the guardian statue room).

I try this coffer each time I go, because the key has been taking mog space for months... I'm still yet to see the coffer (even when there's noone around, and I'm assuming it's usually sitting in one of the harder to access areas...

wow been busy here at work and finally checked up on this thread.
great tips everyone. I'll keep trying. That's bad news about the
coffer pickers.

I haven't clicked on the atlas link yet but will check it out after replying
here.

there are no coffer pops near sozu's spawn (assuming you're talking about Sozu, THF Knife NM)

the difficult coffers are behind the doors which require the prelate and uggalepih keys (which are also 1 use only, and crumble afterwards)

not to mention one of the coffer pops requires you to use BOTH keys just to access the room

indeed one of the worst AF coffers no doubt, maybe the worst :|
