Ok well i am one of the players that came back since i heard about alot of the changes ie level sync. But i noticed i am being asked to go to aht urhgan alot for party's..I really don't know the area well. Is there any particular quests or things i should get done?

Whitegate is for 55+ usually. You will need to complete the quest "The Road to Aht Urghan" to gain access. You'll probably want to have a lvl 75 friend help you get the items required for the quest (I just got 2 mules to Aht Urghan and it took me about 2 hours to farm the items per mule on the beginner/easy way). It's a pain to get there after you've completed the quest (Mhaura > boat ride > Aht Urghan) because the boat only leaves from Mhaura about 4 times a game day.

Wonder why they are making you gather in Whitegate... BTW, what level are you at right now?

If you're going to party in aht urghan, you're going to need a few runic portals. They're basically like the teleport crystals, only you can go to them from town and they cost 200 imperial standing(conquest points of that expansion) to go to them, but they're free to return through them back to the town.

You're going to need the Runic portals to the Mamool Ja Training Grounds, Caedarva Mire(Azoph), and to a little lesser extent, Halvung and Nyzul Isle.

You should complete the "Lure of the Wildcat" quests. Generally you really only need the one for your home nation, but the quest gives you the ability to pay an NPC in a nation 300 gil to teleport you straight to Whitegate. That way you can set your home point at your home nation and have quick access to pretty much anywhere in the game (ie Bastok > Outpost Warp, or Bastok > Whitegate > Jeuno [no airship rides!]), or Bastok > North Gusta > North Gusta if you don't have retrace).
