K so, a while ago I was downloading some Outer Limits seasons and my internet started to sort of mess up. See, my one modem runs my brothers internet for his computer and Xbox and my internet for my Ps3, Laptop, and 2 computers.

Now for some reason we're only able to get internet for his computer, his xbox and only one of my computers. I've checked the modem, it seems fine and the router is fine too I think. I bought a new router thinking the old was one broken but when we plugged the internet into it we got no internet on anything. And now when I plug the Ether net cable giving my computer internet into my wireless router only one wireless thing can get internet. It's really rather odd and makes no sense to me.

I figured it was overloaded or something but when it started to fuck up I was only running two computers off it.

I'm currently waiting for my internet provider to come and install my own DSL line but that'll take three weeks and cost me 300 bucks so I'd figure I'd ask here to see if there was something I could fix.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm rather computer retarded when it comes to this stuff.

Fixed :D

Seriously though, try this:

1) Unplug both cable modem and router. Power up the modem first, wait for all the light, then power up the router.

2) Check all your connections and internet settings.

3) Log into your router and check to make sure that all the internal settings are configured properly. For example, if you have port forwarding for your filesharing program, make sure that the IP address matches up with the right computer (Start > run > cmd + Okay > ipconfig to see what your computer's individual IP is).

4) If all that doesn't work, yeah, you're going to need your ISP's tech people to come look at it.

Go to control Panel click on "Network Connections" and check to see if it's connected. I've had cases where my connection would not automatically connect on start up. The solution was to simply connect it from Network connections and the PC would be back online.

If the PS3 is off line too, then I would assume the other PCs are Wi-Fi connected as well, and the Xbox is connected with Ethernet cable and the working PC is also connected Via Ethernet cable, and is connecting to the internet automatically.

If the Wi-Fi devices are not online, then it's possible the encryption for the Internet signal has been changed. Look into that and make sure the encryption key is the same in the settings for all wireless devices.

Celv's plan worked. I unplugged the modem for almost an hour and plugged it back in. When I did that the first time I only did it for like 10 mins and nothing happened.

Also, Ant, only my one Ethernet cable would work. I have wireless PS3 and laptop but two computers connected via ethernet cables. I checked to see if the broken cord was chewed and it was fine. That's one of the big reasons I was confused.
