Is dancer going to be like a brd?

You get sword or dagger. You get a lower skill in both of them. You don't have an accuracy bonus. You don't have a Wyvern helping you. etc etc.
Your right we have magic instead. To make them a A+ melee would make them broken

No, it wouldn't. Sword is a crappy weapon in this game and you still don't have any abilities/traits to help you melee at all and your gear is sub-par.

... Which is probably why you shouldn't be meleeing in a full party. Unless for some reason you have really good gear, awesome macros, hit for 0 while doing good damage from enspells, etc....

It's not worth the effort to gear up in the best available and STILL be third rate in good conditions.

As I've stated before they are battle mage because they do have melee capabilities and have more sources to melee gear then that of whm. However that not saing they have on par dmg to war in any way.
WHM has higher skill, which makes up for the few gear options they lack over RDM. RDM still isn't a battle mage because your melee damage is pathetic. Being the most polished turd out there doesn't change the fact that you're a piece of shit.

WHM actually have the same melee gear options RDM do actually. Both can wear turban and optical hat, both can wear sea torques with +7 club or sword skill, both can wear brutal earring, both can wear sniper rings, both can wear swift belt. Sure, RDM gets better back options, but in the other places, WHM can even be slightly superior.

Body: Reverend Mail versus Pahluwan Body: same accuracy, the rest is only a HP and evasion difference

Legs: Pahluwan/Nashira versus Blessed Trousers+1: Trousers +1 have 1% more haste

Feet: Dusk Ledelsens +1 versus Blessed Pumps +1: Dusk 5 more attack then Blessed

Hands: Dusk +1 versus Blessed Mitts +1: Blessed Mitts have 2% more haste, but 6 less attack

That's just TP gear, but WHM can also get quite a few +STR/+MND pieces for Hexa Strike, which is also a better WS than Savage Blade. As a matter of fact, my WHM with a damage 29 club do more damage in mage gear with hexa strike then my BLU do with Vorpal Blade with Perdu Hanger. Also somewhat ironic, is that WHM have the same STR as RDM (and 3 more then BLU), and a higher club skill than RDM have sword/dagger skill (although lower than BLU)

1) I didn't fucking say you did, moron.

2) You're trying to make a point that RDM should have good melee ability, because in past games, RDM has had good melee ability - which is false. Their melee has always sucked more ass than even you do. The only difference is that in past games, their shitty melee was never a liability like it is in this one.

HE PAYS HIS 12.95 A MONTH AND HE WILL BE SHITTY IF HE WANTS TO!!

Is that considered flamebaiting? :rtfm:

Why Pahluwan Body? Wouldn't Scorpion Harness+1 be slightly better, unless the critical hit up is worth it (Which from what I've heard, it isn't)? Admittedly, it still won't make up the difference.

I miss how we used to talk about Dancer in this thread...

Shouldnt all this rdm good or bad DD be made into another topic?

whm also have the highest single handed delay weapons and while yes sword weapon skills are not the greatest (which savage blade mods need to be fixed if it was tp determine crit hit like hex strike it be better) the melee dmg is not all that bad depending on the weapon, especially with en- spells. The only point in which a rdm can not melee efficiently in merit party scenario is the fact that you would have to carry 3-4 complete sets of gear with you. A melee set, ws set, and a mind set for curing purposes. Then you have to keep up with refresh cycle along with back-up heals, as well as keep stoneskin and en- up. All in all 9 out of 10 rdms could not do all that.

Anyways back on topic dancer/scholar should get a 250 or less sword/dag skill like all the other hybrids.

you don't need a +MND set for curing... MND does little cure-wise for RDM since Cure IV is capped with just your base MND and healing skill at 75. You'd be better of using light staff for cure potency and -enmity set.

And yet club has the highest damage of any one-handed weapon. having a higher delay on a weapon doesn't prevent you from being a good DD job, just look at sam, drk, drg, or war with a great axe to figure out how retarded that statement was.

No, no one gives a shit about the amount of gear they'd have to carry. In a merit party, they wouldn't need much enfeeble skill gear since the mobs aren't much higher than you. The reason why they don't melee is because their melee damage sucks and they are a big liability to the party. They're feeding TP to the mob and any AoE attacks are going to hit them and drain even more MP(they'll also waste mp casting defensive spells on themselves all the time). Plus, all of the spells you'd cast on yourself would be a waste of MP, especially since you'd have a much lower pool to begin with wearing melee gear.

BLU has A- sword skill(269) and like dancer, they're the only "hybrid" that should be meleeing since they both need TP to do their jobs right. RDM is a good job, but you are not, and never were(in FFXI), a "battle mage;" get the fuck over it.

Red Mage

Considering magic to allow RDM to move up to front lines.
You was saying, and they get a 256 dagger but like blu is to sword limited to the type of dagger types, which make them very little different to that of rdm. Actually they a little to much like rdm right down to there 2 hr:mad:

I don't get how chain casting = spell enhancement.

BLU get a much better sword selection then RDM. we get among the best swords, except for Ridill. Including, but not limited to, Shiva's Shotel, Perdu Sword, and Hofud.

And don't mention Joyouse, because that sword sucks.

Since you obviously can't read well, or even think well, I'll break down that post you quoted.

Red Mage

Considering magic to allow RDM to move up to front lines.
Let's look at the first word, shall we?

Considering. That means they're thinking about doing it, not that they will, but they're bouncing the idea around and it might happen. It's not a guarantee, nor does it "prove your point" about RDM being a battle mage. They are considering allowing red mages to move up to the front lines; that means they should not be there currently, which means(!) RDM IS NOT A BATTLE MAGE.

Now let's look at that second word. Magic. Not abilities, not traits, not gear, not melee skills/weapons, magic. They are not getting any bonus to their physical damage skills, it's all going to be magical damage, if it's even a damage spell at all. Hell, it could be a short range AoE spell that buffs the party, we don't know but there's nothing at all to indicate that they'll become your "battle mage" after this.

In short, you're still a fucking idiot. RDM isn't a battle mage, they might and I strongly emphasize the word might(if you couldn't tell), become one with that change, but until we see what that change is, they aren't and never have been. I seriously doubt this change will make them anything but a TP battery for the mob like they are now, but I'll have to wait to see.

I could care less about meleeing in parties, but anything that'll help me solo better is a definite want.
