Lately I've been starting to question if high level crafting is even worth it. I'm now 98+1 woodworking and am recovering from my 10th bankrupcy getting it. At this minute I don't have anywhere near as much gil as when I started, its rare occasion I even have more than 500k on me anymore. A lot of high level crafters seem to be rich one day, and then poor the next trying to HQ items and having very bad failure rates. Makes you wonder if its worth it at all. For items like silent oil etc and other everyday use items, they are probably worth synthing yourself because you can actually make a profit skilling up alchemy to 60. Will save you a lot of gil in the long run as well, but as for the other items, they either don't make you gil or are too risky to make like snipers+1, elemental staff. Its a really long investment time, and will take goodness knows how long just to earn back the gil you spent on it.

Inflation can sometimes help with the selling of skill up items but most of the time it just makes skilling up stupidly expensive. Not really sure if people have spoken about it here before, but would be good to hear what people reckon on it. IMO its only worth it if you got a 75 job, did some HNM fights saved up like 30 mil+ or something and fancied just doing it for fun. Or if you're like myself and saved up quite a decent amount mining adaman ores, then it might be an option, but basically you ain't really gonna make money from crafting unless you are rich to begin with. Another thing that kinda puts me off, is that by the time a lot of my friends had stupid amounts of gil, they ended up just finding the game boring and moved on to somewhere else, a big number of who now play WoW full time. Guess we'll see how things go on in the future, if SE try and put an end to the stupid inflation taking place. /rant over

If believe if you use your skill level to HQ items then you can make profit. if you wanna make profit just HQ shi hei and get like 6k profit per stack, which is definately good.

Crafting

in a long term goal most crafts will get you profit in the end.

I've made decent profit off leveling woodworking making arrows, without ever HQing. So if I was to start making lower arrows, I'd get some HQ's and then more money. Sounds like a way to make money to me. There's also shihei, which will sell pretty fast and get you some good money too.

Don't matter what craft you're in, you're gonna face multiple periods where you seem to be losing more money than making. Just suck it up and trudge through it. However, it is definitely worth it in the end.

Yeah its worth it im going to start up on farming my iron ores again to save money since im not the richest taru out there. But yeah +1 things can give you lots of money.

If you are looking to be making a mroe consistant, but smaller profit per synth, consumables are always the way to go. A high level Carpenter can only make so many signed bookshelves before their money is gone.

First thing I thought when I saw you have Woodworking that high: shihei. It's the reason I'm leveling Woodworking and Alchemy. With Woodworking that high, if you get Alchemy to 40+, you should be able to HQ Black Ink and Bast Parchment (thus saving on ingredients) and HQ shihei like mad. Then you can just fill up your inventory with shihei, put them in bazaar for below AH price, and leave it on overnight and make a bunch of money. Obviously, there are other profitable synths out there as well. You have to do a bit of research on the AH to see what you can make cheap and sell for lots of gil. Try looking into upgrading equipment. Given, woodworking doesn't have as many of those as smithing, leather, and clothcrafting, but there are some. Those are pretty profitable sometimes, especially if you can make a +2 piece (which you should be able to do, at your level). Also, look into special crafts (i.e. the ones that require key items). I haven't looked into them myself, but they might be pretty profitable.

No realy Cohibuu, making HQs is good and all but unless you are lvl 90+ odds are that if you mass produce Arrows and other similar products you can make alot of quick gil. Consumables (especialy high demand consumables) are a gauranteed market that can be very profitable.

Also there is a bit of gil in making furniture in woodworking.

woodworking? what else is there to make besides staves

Something no NIN or /NIN can be without..... Shihei.

Staves are a leading money LOSER, unless you HQ.

even for alchemy? lol >.>

To sum it all up: stop thinking about the "biggies" yes, they seem to make the most money IF you HQ, but they also have a much larger risk if you fail/NQ. I'm tired of people saying "all right! imma level bone craft and get rich off make a ton of SH" or ele staffs, or VC, sniper rings whatever." then cry when they go broke.

You take the risk for making things that high because you want to, becaue you're drawn by the bigger profits. Your choice. Crafting through all levels seems to be all about the HQing, and thus you can make a lot of money with lower level stuff. Not as much as the higher level stuff, but a very nice profit. As they have said, HQing Shehei, or arrows. For alchemy potions, sneak oils and ink and wax, low level stuff like that is very profitable. Anyways, thats what I think.

First Mithrie grats on 98 + 1^^ 85 + on ww for me was a killer to answer your question yes i do belive its worth it, i leveled ww 100 +2 and seen a steady flow of gil im my db, now if your lloking to be ungodly rich quick ww isint going todo that for ya, I too had those hopes and dreams and the slowly faded away, like everyone is saying the lower level much needed items are where the $$$ is sure i poped numerous +1 staffs and even -1 togi (yea^^) but they dont beat the constant flow of gil from easy to make hq's. To help you get to the 100 mark (if your gonna go for it) i suggest not trying to make the gil for the materials threw ww rather get it from another source, I too had bankrupcy several times until i started to camp nm's at a more frequent rate and when i got the drop from argus (back in the day when the pc was 10mill) that allowed me to take ww to new lvls and since then never had a gil shortage issue. On a side note try to make some signed items for friends, items that they normaly use on a daily bases ( i did staves ) that way it gets your name out thier and you can get referd to for taking personall ww item orders, well i hope my rambuling helped, if ya need some synth help or ideas send me a /tell^^

I synthed a Cursed Haidate -1 the other day. I wish I hung onto it and sold it. I got 12 gil atm lol. I can make 500k a day making shihei and then selling for 6.5k a stack, 60k for 10 stacks. Though if i just sell for AH price I can make much more but I'm trying to do people a favour. As you can imagine, with my WW level I get 110% HQ rate on shihei. I can sell for 4k and still make profit. Elemental staffs are only worth it if I grow my own ores, but even then its better if I just sell the ores lol. Makes elemental staffs worthless like people say. I call for a crafter revolt where we charge the actual cost of the synth for such items, not accept 40-50k loss. Anyways, I guess people just gotta read up AH and see what can be used to make profit and thats it. I'll probably end up relying on something like Darksteel bolts or shihei for my main income I guess. The day i finish capping all crafting skills then the real gil will be made, but for now bring on the 11th bankrupcy for me. :D If anyone needs to buy excessive shihei for 6.5k for 1 or 10 stacks for 60k at a time, then plz contact me in game. Take care. :)
