Is it worth it to Lvl Rng?

Only time i do that in exp pt is when the melee use Sushi on VT mobs. Bunch of geniuses I tell ya...

lololololol D:

Sushi is worthless.

Well, another question, what stats should i focus on? I occtionally told to do agi, dex and str, but in what priority? Should i have a lot of str, and just enough dex or agi to make a bit of differance or what?

Well, it wouldn't be so worthless if the accuracy caps weren't so retardedly low.

I think it was neosquall who once said... "it's not like they raised all the mob's evasion when they released sushi"

We got by without it, just gear up properly and acc isn't a problem. instead people take sushi as a cheap excuse not to buy acc gear... then again if acc gear wasn't so goddamn retarded expensive atm

STR is by far the most noticable one. I noticed a large WS damage jump when i switched from op. hat to wyvern helm, which is just +5 str. I didn't notice any WS damage change at all when i switch from noct+1 gloves to Seiryu's kote, which is +15 agi (i did notice i seemed to parry more tho ) and i noticed a jump in critical hits when i got hiadate...however i merited critical hit several times around the same time i got them..so i'm not sure which one to attribute that too...probably both.

Well, people also treat it as some massive ACC boosting food, when what it does increase by at the end levels, is a drop in the bucket compared to your overall acc from weapon skill level, DEX, and gear.

The stuffs just not worth it, despite how many people want to believe it. Eat STR+ and Attack+% food, those actually do make a difference.

/cheer Listen to the monkey

Most of the misconception comes from people believing that ACC+15%(Sole for sake of example) will boost their hit rate by 15%. 50% to 65%. 80% to 95%.

Sorry folks, doesn't work that way. I'd say you'd get an 8% boost, if you're not over the cap for the accuracy on the food. So, hit <8% more often, or hit for 1.5-2x as hard? Your decision.

While this is the subject... /prod-with-a-small-stick

I usually carry both Sole sushi and the standard meat-kabob on my 51 MNK/WAR (yes i have high quality gear, maybe not every +1 but i have my jujitsu gi and ochi kote and str/attack/accu on everything else.) I've been starting off each party with the kabob until i feel out the area, (mainly to see if the party is worth using sushi because it is so costly >_>;) If i'm not outpacing the other melee in TP i pop the sushi next food-time. Would I be better off whiffing a bit more and punching a bit harder (str/attck food) vs hitting more and less hard? at this point i'm usually solo-tp Raging Fists since its near impossible to get a fusion chain going anyways, not to mention almost all exp mobs being water or earth type -_-; Or are you referring to the diminishing returns at much higher levels and is the sushi still the best thing at my current? I quit for several months last year before the food changes were made, and am still not quite sure on the whole food system, and I want to do the right thing.

I've been buying mithkabobs from the same tarutaru bazaar since launch :( its hard to move on.

ON TOPIC: RNG seems so rare lately. I havent partied with any 'young' rangers (dunes->kazham) since i started leveling subjobs a month ago and I havent seen very many or partied with ANY in the 40-50s range when my mnk was going through it. The only rngers i see are the lvl 75 in jeuno, looking kinda lost. I think if you want to be the ultimate nuker you should go BLM, and if melee is more your style try MNK or WAR. RNG always was a little in between. Its just very costly if you don't love the job. Take it through the dunes, if you still like it keep going, but if you arent happy with it by lvl 20 you probably never will be, and will just hate it as it becomes more and more expensive. If its something you enjoy its worth the cost, if all you want is to make a pretty screenshot there are faster and less expensive jobs to take through the levels that can do the same :P

's a game! No one can tell you what you find fun :)

oh, level war sub for this? /nin gets to be really gimped for dmg comparatively later on in the game, like, we're talking 1100 compared to 2000 on a sidewinder difference

No, it's not that huge. I've done 2k+ on deco weapons as /nin (standard double minuet, no soul voice) and have yet to see any rng post 2500+ on deco weapons and claim it was without soul voice as /war, or even anything close.

Back on sushi, there is a point where it is worth using sushi, and it's when your accuracy is down near 50%. Have you ever fought mobs that were a couple levels too high for you, and you couldn't hit them? Well then you level, get the 6 weapon levels (6 acc) and all of a sudden you're hitting them a whole lot more than before. When the mob is way too high for you, sushi won't be enough to make much of a difference, when you already have 80%+ accuracy, you won't see a dramatic difference, but there is a point where sushi will make a huge increase in accuracy.

*edit* realized that I made it sound like warrior is useless as a sub, you might use it in exp a few times, but you're better off with /nin for the most part. You will need warrior sub for end game, rng that only has nin sub is like whm that only has blm sub.

yes, there is a point when it's useful to use sushi. There's also a point when it's not. Hate to require people to put more thinking into what their doing that "everybody does it" ya know...

I've been trying to get 2k on a Deco for awhile now with /Nin. The highest I've done with Obow so far is 1.7k, and I just nearly broke it with a 1.9k Sidewinder on Master Caster's Bow+Kabura. Still haven't tried using an Ebow, and probably won't since I just shelled out my last 20mil on Warrior equips. I figure I can probably break it with PPA, Ocean Sash, Galliard Trousers and Custom M Boots, and capping my merits out.

The quantity of rangers has changed dramaticaly, 90% of them where people on the band wagon because it was such an overpowered job. Now that they have been balanced only the people who truely enjoy ranger and want to put in it their all are the ones who play.

I think I am topped out on dec.weapons at about 2.2 - 2.3k and that was with hellfire+1, Osode, berserk+warcry, and all the str shit I can get, marksmanship merits, and str merits. I have yet to try it with my Aqua gorget and I need some buffer on my rng so I bet I can hit 2.5 with double minuet and attack food. Drk stacking can do more in a single hit, but my per shot can get as high as twice that of a drk and slug barrage slug in a matter of seconds can kill a dec.weapon solo to finish off that chain 20. No other job can do 4-5k damage that quick *edit* that often. DoT in exp party ranger is still the best DD.

There's a little luck and a lot of timing involved, of course you need all the STR, attack food, double minuet, and someone else's warcry. You'll also need an acid bolt on it, and a fresh Choke and Dia II, since they wear down gradually. It also helps a lot to have one of the lowest leveled weapons, but you really can't find that out until after it dies and gives you exp.
