 just wondering if it would be wrong to date a girl, just because you and her can play FFXI together .... because you could pl her, then when she gets higher she could pt with you, or eventually she could pl your new jobs .... ^_^

or is it wrong to break up with someone because she bothers you while playing FFXI.... "Hey hey, whoa, DO NOT walk infront of me while I'm camping Leaping Lizzy",,... "but honey I just wanna love you..." "Hey, you want some love? Then go buy a dog... I need to farm to be able to buy my Scorpion Harness, so leave me ALONE!!!"

Yes, it's wrong. Dating someone just because they share one common interest is....
That hardly even warrants a normal friendship. :?

you hearless bastard. DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and ish dont raise him.

If that's the only reason, then ya.
If you wanna just be pals and play together, cool.

At some point you gotta decide if she's a good girlfriend for you, or just a friend. FFXI really has only two things to do with this...Jack and shit.

Now if you can get the girl already date to start playing FF XI, well then thats just pure brillance.......

Except when you only have one computer and she wants to play.......................

Yay for PS2

Best poem ever.

I wouldn't say it is wrong....

I would say it is no different that 75% of relationships. Most people ask themselves "what can this person do for me". For some it's money, some it hot sweaty monkey love, a lot is based on security, for you....it is FFXI.

Wrong? I guess not.

Pathetic? Most diffently.

..

i dunno if its wrong or pathetic..

for the most part everyone wants to feel loved and needed.. no one likes to feel lonely and useless do they? even in "cyber space" people reach out to one another via chat rooms and emails.. and most often they do ONLY SHARE ONE common interes together when they first meet or start talking.. one interest most often leads to you and that other person soon sharing more interests.. which can lead to true feelings.. even if they start out fake.. there have been quite a few ppl who have "hooked up" over ffxi.. however that number is EXTREMELY small compared to how many ppl "hook up" over the internet all together..

..now here's another question..

Do you believe you can honestly have feelings for someone from over the internet, without ever meeting, seeing, or talking to that person?

Yes.

Personally, I'd say it's wrong.

I'd rather go out with a girl in rl, rather then in game, and only if I feel like she would be good for me. other than that, it's just wrong to do it based on a game, cause what if yer together for long enough, other things come into play, and what if you don't want them, ya know?

Yes.

that just spelled out how elph and i met. proof that online relationships definetly work. IMO

..

..meeting someone from the internet is a good show of NOT being shallow..

you cant base your judgements on them on anything EXCEPT their peronality..

dating online is a good way to get to know the person..

everyone is shallow to some degree.. im sure none of you will walk up to anyone from the opposite sex if they arent physically attractive.. or have some visible flaws..

meeting someone online you skip past all of that.. you can see the personality first.. if your personalities clash then you go your seperate ways.. but if they mesh then you can get to know the person further.. which leads to sending picture.. emails.. and such.. if the person isnt physically attractive to you, or they have some visible flaw.. if you already have feelings for that person.. and you love their personality.. it might help you look past the physical and focus on who they are.. if not.. the worst that can happen is you say you arent interested in them that way.. and if you keep it civil you have just made a friend...

as for me asking if you ppl believe you can have feelings for someone over the internet, without ever meeting, seeing, or talking to that person.. well i believe you can.. lets take an example.. ive never met teppo, aysia, alyssan, odon, zaltana, bajaratt, or anyone else for that matter, from ffxi.. other than tep and odon i have no idea what those ppl i named look like.. or sound like.. and ive never met anyone from ffxi IRL.. now.. if any of those ppl.. or anyone else i call "friend" on ffxi ever died.. i'd honestly cry.. and feel sad.. not for the loss of a player on ffxi.. but for a friend who's company i enjoy..

Theres something wrong with you if you value your scorpion harness over your girlfriend. cuz if mine was getting over me id shut off my damn ps2 and...well you know...too bad mine isnt that type to get all romantic like that

You guys missed it.

1. He didn't mention if it was a rl relationship or internet based.

2. He didn't mention a thing about liking her, just that they can play togather, and eventually he would have his own pl

I think THAT is pathetic.

As far as finding love on the net I know it is possible. My dad found my current step-mom on the net. It sucks that he was with my mom when he met her, but that is just one out of the thousands examples of people hooking up online.

It is safer than bars, and as mentioned, he helps people see past the superficial b.s. that you go through in bars, and other single hang outs.

lol how i find this rather funny but if i was your girlfriend i would jsut slap you... then steal your controller and plat because i love the game.... but to answer w/e his name is question yaw itts a common interest if she likes it and you do also jsut go for it you have something to build on your like of the game... but hey that is my opinion and my boyfriend dose not play FFXI so he has people kidnap me o well i still play but i say no its not wrong

You don't date someone based upon the game they play or even if they play games. There is a lot more needed to make a relationship work and as the games are set up, this is not enough to sustain a permanent relationship. Its about as effective as two roommates sending IMs to each other.

Usually when you meet someone online you have a physical expectation of that person and even when you recieve some sort of physical evidence about that person, its usually very different from what you expected. More than likely you made some fantasy image of the person and they will act and look quite different from that fantasy.

On the other hand, if you already know the person and want he/she to play the game, they only do it to be closer to you. That says a lot about the person if they are willing to do something they may not normally do just so they can be closer to you. The OP makes it sound as tho he just want the GF to be there to give you special treatment in game and nothing else. If thats so I wouldn't bother getting into a relationship for that reason. A relationship takes a lot of effort to keep things alive even if its a "fake" relationship that doesn't extend beyond the computer screen.

OMG! I like spaghetti too... 8)

Oh yah, breaking up over a video game is incredibly low and shallow. It may seem important to you now and with the amount of time and effort some put into this game it may seem that way; however, in about 2-3 years time you and your character will not exist anymore. What then? You spent all that time playing a game for enjoyment that only lasted temporarily when you could have a BF or GF that brings you happiness then and now. Friends last, games don't. Don't be a fool. Reality comes first before some fantasy life that has no chance of survival beyond that of a computer.
