Foofighter said:Skaw I am gonna have to say you are not completely right. Sure you can sub /war for rng and pull. In fact, I have done it many times. The problem is that there are a ton of variable to factor in when choosing a sub. Now we can debate what a better sub for ranger is until the cows come home. In my experience and the other rangers in my shell, we have decided that rng/nin is still the optimal choice for experience parites. Utsusemi is very useful on pulling most mobs. I know how to pull, in fact, I am an expert on it. I don't give a fuck if I sound arrogant but I am better than any puller I have played with. Shadows help with couerls, raptors, g.birds, manticores, tigers, ladons, long pulls, avoiding links, pulling hate(on purpose or just to finish off a mob), and possibly waiting for a sata on the tank. Also, the stealth ability that ninja gives as a sub is damn cool. You can get extremely close to aggro mobs. In addition, there is a trend of parties taking on mobs a couple level to early these days. If you happen to get into one of these parties then you will want 2 hawkers/archers instead of 1 or that extra 10-20 damage per hit wont matter if you aren't hitting as much.
Now, if you are in a situation where you don't have to pull and the mobs evasion is not a factor than rng/war is a better damage dealer. As far as most exp. mobs in the game and a pulling ranger than rng/nin in my opinion is a far better option.
You really should stop and look before you ramble off what you think as fact. The difference between stats from fully lvled subs is insignifigant. For example:Ugotjack said:For Thief:
Ranger is so low on STR and Dex that subbing war is more beneficial even though you make less TP you still make enough to SC every battle.
Meh not to mention that they would have use a weak Racc dagger. And they would miss Ratt alot. Therefore wasting time the could have swung at the mob to get TP also. Meh i think post nerf thf/rng isnt as good as thief/nin or thief/war
Ugotjacked said:Berserk? Warcry? That is also a level 50 comparison. I bet that difference is much larger at 75. The question was at level 75 not 50 and at level 75 the difference is 5 STR and 2 Dex which doesnt seem like much but thats many millions of gil in armor to pick up that extra STR in DEX at 75.
And in exp that TP gain wouldnt mean a damn thing because ive never had a problem with thief/nin,rng,war gaining enough TP to SC once a battle.
Actually, you might want to. If you notice, he is refering to using ranged attacks for non-exp situations. Then as a side question, he is asking about subbing rng overall for exp party.I said that because the original poster wants to use Ranged attacks and Ranged weapon skills such as sidewinder... I tihnk you should read the original post...
Afterhour said:i would also like to have my RNG avalible(sp idc) for campin NM's and SS + Sidewinder and i think Slug Shot not sure if it is useable by THF/RNG i think it is but anyway, my RNG is now lv 10 will i be able to get it to 37 with the nurf? i am also wondering is THF/RNG is a good option is a party
I did not do 75 because the stats are not as realiable, but had you taken the time to check the site you would have found these results:Berserk? Warcry? That is also a level 50 comparison. You should try partying with a well equiped mnk. I have yet to see any thf keep up with them. Even if you do get 100 tp in time, faster tp gain from more accu means you are hitting more which means more dmg (and slightly more dmg in the ws from extra tp). I'm not saying rng dominates nin or war sub, far from it. However, it is still quite viable as a sub for thf.And in exp that TP gain wouldnt mean a damn thing because ive never had a problem with thief/nin,rng,war gaining enough TP to SC once a battle.
