Just looking at some of the posters "Lurking" the boards who are "retired" from this game. Simple question really....

Naw WoW is a blast, but I cannot procrastinate my homework/studying without QCDN! :D

I've yet to find a good flameboard for WOW. Also no good "We pwned the gilseller!!11!!" threads or "This noob only had 20 million gil in items, he suckorz!!" threads on the WOW boards. The game isn't boring, just the message boards.

remember Dinky? he left for wow. (IRL friend).
He keeps sending me emails of all the stuff he's doing in wow.

sounds BORING>

I bought WoW as a present for a friend of mine. We played it for a few days and got bored with it.

Bad graphics. Simple animations (I was like "Huh?" when I saw the trainer "trained" me). No clarity in chat system. Average age of players is lower than that of FFXI. I could go on and on.

Anyway, my friend already quitted WoW but he felt too shameful to go back to FFXI.

Its a fun game, but only in short bursts. Its not like FFXI where you can play for 24 hours straight... it just gets old after a while. I did the Van Cleef quest with my guild and after about 4 hours of destroying everything and dying a few times, we all got bored. I've been in FFXI parties that have lasted longer that than, and I wasn't bored with them either... like someone else said on another thread, "How do they get the crack in the game?"

I'm sorry to say, but I do agree with him.

lol @ the WoW haters. Everything you have said about WoW is completely false. WoW is non stop action, non stop questing and non stop pvp. Get bored in WoW? Gimme a break, WoW you are constantly doing stuff where as FFXI you look for a group more then you actually do anything. Bad graphics? ok bud. The graphics are just as good as FFXI but are in a cartoonish style. That does not make the quality of the graphics "bad". You're surprised/disappointed that a trainer trained you? Is FFXI the only MMO (or RPG for that matter) you ever played? Average players is lower then FFXI? Most incorrect statement you made yet, FFXI is full of selfish immature pre teen fools PLUS you have no choice but to group with these said people. WoW is not nearly as bad. WoW General chat is not nearly as bad as FFXI's and you're not forced to group with people, whether they are idiots or not.

To the guy who said he and his guild mates got bored doing VC.....I have never heard a single person in the game say he was "bored" doing anything, how can you be bored doing one of the games dungeons? Sounds like a WoW hater talking BS to me.

Any other fools wanna step up and get shot down trashing wow?

Yes, I will step up and trash WoW. It stole all the cool people!! >_<

But really, there's nothing I can find that's bad with it. The people who played were cool (those I briefly ran into), but I wouldn't say the quests were very exciting... even my first instance dungeon was pretty dull compared to a Dynamis. Duels were unbalanced, but fun ... I didn't expect much being a Priest in the time I played. Overall everything felt too........ easy. Crafting was too detached from the feeling of accomplishment. Those are the only flaws I found in the game. Otherwise the graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is pretty suited to one who doesn't have hours of time on hand...

I still measure up FFXI as better in my honest opinion, not that it's flawless either but I'm happy with it.

One of my roomates plays WoW quite a bit. He enjoys it quite a bit. But, just like anything, it has it's negatives. The balance of power is severely skewed towards the alliance. He has a hard time getting quests done because there's just so many Alliance idiots hanging around waiting to gank some lower levels. Sounds fun...

my co workers play wow, and the way that they talk about it, it sounds fun, but its not really the kind of game that i want to play right now. I'm thinking about picking it up in the future, just as a change of pace..

Its just a matter of taste.. there are a lot of things about both of those games that suck, its just a matter of which system you like better. The thing about wow that i really dont like is the graphics, but then I get told by the co-workers that if you're gonna play a game just for the graphics then pick up a playstation or xbox.. not an MMORPG, and they're right..

And to the people who picked it up played it for a few days and then decided they didn't like it.. you really didn't give the game a chance I dont think.. I hated ffxi when i first started playing it then slowly really got into the gameplay.. same thing should go for WoW.. you don't really get the full effect until after you get to know a lot of other things..

There's really no point in bashing it.. they talk shit on this game just as much as you do on that one. They're two completely different games.. get over it. Meh.

I played a 10 day free trial of WoW and I won't be leaving for it. It isn't a bad game at all but for whatever reason it didn't "grab" me and make me want to stay either. Perhaps it is simply because FFXI is a sickness that won't let go of me. :?

Yeah, I'll step up. (start shooting at me now)
I went over to Dinky's house and he tried to SHOW me the game to try
and get me to leave ffxi.

cool things:
Totems (I like that Idead)
Lit-up pathway command (?? was kind of cool)
Water animation (nice)
transportation (nice)

sucky things:
boring very quickly
most other animation not good at all. crappy animation with cool water
animation YAY.
fighting sucks.
WORST OF ALL... you can hardly read the chat area. It's tiny and in the
lower left of the screen. hard to see.
Almost the WORST of all is the PVP system. Dinky informed me and
showed me about "Corpse Campers" or whatever you call them.
He has ways of pissing them off but it's a good idea that is exploited for
the fun of some little bratty kid.

Dinky survived one that was funny. (mind you i'm not too fam. w/terms)
lvl28 hunter targeted him Dinky(24 shamen). Shamen get jumped on by
hunter. Dinky ran out of totem range and plopped down a totem that
had an area effect of ffxi's Gravity on the Hunter. He pwnd the hunter
who was 4 levels higher.

other then that, I've seen the game first hand and I know it's boring.

I did purchase WoW since a lot of friends in RL were playing it and would not join me in FFXI. Had to update my computer with new video card and more RAM memory and such, cause it was just lagging way to much to play it.

After I did all that, I played one week-end and got bored. I'm not saying it's a bad game. Surely some people like it since they have registered users! But it just did not cut it for me.

Yes you don't have to do everything in group... just like in FFXI. I mean that from what I saw in WoW the things you can do solo are just like in FFXI, leveling from 1-12, farming, raising a crafts, doing the first missions, etc. I'm pretty sure when you get in higer levels, you have to group as well.

PvP seemed like a nice idea, before I got wipped out by a level 567 guy while I was trying to figure out how to use a spell...... thye should have made some kinda rule to prevent that, it gets really frustrating.

Dying is just not an issue, you have to walk back, big deal!!! No exp loss. At first I liked it, but then, there is not that tension when you are close to dying that makes you do heroic stuff in FFXI. You just die and walk back.....

I like the choice of emotes and the animations!!! That was cool. But if I wanted to see people dance all day, I'd play DDR :?

In the end, I can see why some people like it, but I got bored, plain and simple. Maybe I missed something, I don't know. Just like with FFXI, I was getting bored and almost ready to quit when I joined my first LS. That definately changed the game for me ( I was in a guild by the way, with 10-12 RL friends and still got bored....)

Shoot!

I tried it and was suprised by the lack of depth in the game, I don't know maybe I have been Jaded by a damn good story line but the inability to change jobs, and the inability to have a quest more meaningful of go to X dungeuen to kill x mob for so many xs and you will be given a few silver just did not excite me. The polygon count was simple but there was alot of style. The Griffon rides are said to be real cool, I would not know I saw 5 frames in a 5 minute flight it was lagging so bad. A line to get into a game is not my thing as well. And I damn well know who plays blizzard games, thank you very much. I been on BNet since Diablo II, so do not try to glorify those pychotic hormone driven assholes to me. I know what they are like, I tried PVPing and I saw imediatly that those people where back in full force.

IMO WOW was designed less on the base of an rpg and more of a base of a strat. game, hence the less depth. After all, it's named warcraft, no? Would make since if it had some likeness to the others in the series. So they appeal to different groups, I might like it but I'm not going to play it. Nothing personal I have this thing against blizzard right now. -_- Starcraft sequal {Can I have it?}. I'm looking forward to Front Mission Online and maybe Ambrosia Odessy, but if there is something else on the horizen besides EQ or WoW that's any good, I probaby will play. All of these types of games have some type of down time, and I have played several MMORPG's at a time and evens some at the same exact moment, helps make sure you always have something to do.

D&D Online coming out soon.. I have my eye on it.

I like warcraft and all.. but when I played WoW on Beta and on my friend's computer I often got bored.. the things I think that make WoW good: Exploring EVERYWHERE!!!!(almost no boundaries ^^) the NPCs actually help you, and um.. the emotes were fun ^^ /dances *shakes her Night Elven thing* ^^v the story was pretty cool too.. other than that.. there really wasn't that much that was interesting to me.. mainly cause no challenge.. getting to max level with any job by yourself is boring >< only like.. lvl 55 is when you start NEEDING a party... and at that a party of 2... could be enough

If WOW is so great, why are you on these boards all the time? That's really what I was getting at.

Why are you? What difference does it make if someone still plays or not? I even check on iRO and Lineage II boards from time to time, even though I only played either of those games for about a month. I suspect alot of people still come here because this a community board more than just a FFXI board. As I said earlier, I have yet to find a good WoW board that has the same type of drama and other good stuff that this board has going on.

My complaint about all 3 games:

FFXI: One spends too much time LFG

WoW: One spends too much time offline due to server crashes/lag

EQ2: One spends too much time trying to figure out how the game works.

Overall, I believe FFXI does win in a way that you aren't screwed in it unless you purchase the game NOW. I'm sorry, I feel sorry for people who buy FFXI at this time because it is just going downhill.

FFXI; I believe, is number one because it has the following:
-Good overall graphics
-Strong community (Despite recent eruptions)
-Flexibility

The two downsides I see in FFXI are:
-Horrible economy
-Unbalanced jobs, resulting in some to get invites lesser/rarer than others.

WoW is, by no means, a bad game. I love it. You have much freedom of where to go, there are very few load times (only when you first load the server, if you change continents, or go into an instance....that's it! Zoning is instantaneous!), you can solo, quests give experience, and the PvP system.

On subject of the PvP system, I don't know who said it was bad, but please kill over and die. Ballista can kiss my behind! The PvP on WoW is fast, exciting, and incredible. Someone else was complaining about "corpse camping" and my response to that is you cannot complain if you accepted the responsibility of joining a PvP SERVER! That is one of the best feelings in this game! You can attack any enemy town or city at any time. You don't know when someone will strike, and how intense it will be!

PvP servers were made for people like me, as well as the other thousands who are on them. If you cannot handle being corpse camped, then you or your friend should have made your character on a normal or RP server. (PvP server allows people of opposing factions to attack eachother whenever they want, while normal/RP servers give people the option to "disable" PvP unless they attack an NPC). By the way, I have never been corpse camped.....and never will.....because I own (for my lvl  )

WoW has many great aspects that FFXI could never live up to, while vice versa is also true.

Both games are great, but FFXI comes around the victor, despite how much I actually hate it. Yes I hate FFXI, but I LOVE to be a high lvl.

In response to Vang, C'mon man I answered your question before and I'll say it again: Just because we (I for the most part) am on this board doesn't mean WoW is "boring." I have other things that I need to do, like homework. I also procrastinate....alot. Just because I am taking a break from FFXI doesn't mean that I cannot post on QCDN. I love QCDN, and I know I'm coming back. So please....chill.

***By the way, EQ2 fails!    ***
