Issue with Computer freezing with FFXI

Dunno what the hell is going on, whenever I hit play after going through POL my computer freezes up and I have to restart, not using Vista, on xp.

This is with/without the windower.


Fix the problem get 100k.

doubt is graphic card problems.

try checkdisk

i don't think is a graphic card issue, he said it freezes after it hit play, FFXI isn't even loaded yet.

my guess is file curruption or CRC error

Just updated the drivers, File check is fine. Like I said I just installed the game.

When it goes to load FFXI after you hit play is when the computer freezes.

Try a diff game that uses d3d or vana bench.
Try setting ffxi settings to default or lower than what they are at.
Try a restore point (if thats on) to a point before the problem.
Try chkdsk like van suggested.
Are you overclocking your cpu, ram or vid card?

If it's after he hits play... that's when FFXI loads. Probably an API load error - I'd point the finger at DirectX.

Wheres our money! jk. Seemed that may of been the problem, since pol and ffxi are different apps.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen, just updated my DirectX and it was fine after.

Was gonna ask if you were using Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. >_>;
