Yesterday... what can I say, it was probably the most event-ful day I've ever had in the game.
Yesterday morning I said what the hell, and put up my lfp flag. Got a nice party, we went and roved Dangerous Weapons in Shrine of Ru'Avitau (omg, a Conquest Area???). Got some really good merits there. Chains up to late 20s. Good people, lots of fun.
Thought to myself, how does it get any better?
Then, shortly after, I get a cannon party at Mamool Ja staging point. omfg it got better. Limit Chain 96 (and if the damn mamool blm hadn't used sleepga that one time it would've been in the hundreds. No one died, but our timing got thrown off just enough).
Net result:
67,000 + limit points in one day
Imperial Standing to 23k (Walahra Turban, yeah!)
Capped my Bar-spell upgrades and used my last available whm-specific upgrade on Devotion recast time reduction (whm-specific merits: 5x Cure Cast Reduction; 3x Shellra V; 1x Protectra V; 2x Devotion; 5x Bar-spell Enhancement).
And again, I thought it couldn't get any better...
Then, along comes Tjm, looking for help doing Sandy Rank Mission 9-1. I can help! lol I had done it last week, so I even remembered where to go and how to do it! And then, I asked if he was perchance interested in doing 9-2 (its a bcnm that requires sandy 9-1 or higher, and my friends Mysticalone and Destinnee and I had been looking for others to do this with for a week, with no joy). And he was! And his friend Shiia was! And they found this awesome blm named Rawlins to help! Tough but fun fight (but I really do hate the run to Fei'Yin - it sucks!)
Net result: Sandy Rank 10 - the third of three flags - and they do look nice on my moghouse wall!
And then... Thanks to the awesomeness of Landael and his shell, The Force Council, and to Kyrial-The-Awesome, Arthur the Chivalrous and Kinkkerbelle... we went to Promyvion Vahzl and popped a bunch of ENMs and got a bunch of White Memospheres. These guys knew how much I'd been pining for my last map... and they gave me the honor of the first trade to the ???
I owe these guys big time, as well as Rawlins, and can't wait to honor that debt of gratitude.
Net result: Maps, 75/75 (I'm sure others have done it and Kyrie and Arthur are really close, too - but I haven't heard of it, anyway).
It's been a year now, since I've turned 75 as whm. I love that job and want to keep it as my main always. I haven't got all the "stuff" some have, and don't necessarily mind much at all - its been my character I've wanted to develop. And so... now, it is:
Rank 10 all nations
Hero Fame all applicable areas
All Magic Skills Capped for 75 whm and for any subjobs I'd normally use
All Combat Skills Capped for 75 whm and for any subjobs I'd normally use (including Club, Staff, Shield, Evasion, Throwing and whatever else there is - lol whatever I've missed mentioning here, trust me, it's in the blue)
All maps obtained
All white mage-specific upgrades used.
And best of all - I will never be a great white mage or the best white mage - but I do feel reasonably competent playing the job I love now. I am content to be a decent white mage.
All in all... it was indeed a very good day, thanks to everyone who helped, now and in the past. Nogard. Klop. Tsumi. Dominatrix. Domi. Naughtydawg. Mistra. Enz. Kenjiro. GodofDeath. Nyyankee.
