being that it's a MMO? I mean the CoP story was awesome. RoZ was pretty cool. Haven't got into the ToAU story being that there's no good reward for the missions, and this new expansion's story looks to be the best imo.

I would say that this game started out to be a "OK" FF being online and all, but with the updates, friends, and expansions since then, it's becoming quite the tale...

The 3 new rings aren't worth it to you in AU? D:

Edit: can't do Salvage and idk about Ein unless your beyond a specific mission either

Nope, I hardly do assault either so that's 3 items down the drain. The crown looks nice, but I truly don't care about it lol.

I can do Ein. Salvage = Meh. My schedule is busy already as it is. Not to mention I don't see it being as popular as dynamis is right now either lol.

i like the ranged att and acc ring. its almost enough for me to care about finishing the story.

Anyways, to get back to your question on "True RPG" or not. I think SE has hit the nail on the head in several places. They provide stories, level based system, Multiple Different Jobs/Crafts one can do, and a Monster system that either Agros or Doesn't. Maybe the question fitting the topic is it worthy of being a "Final Fantasy" Rpg?

To the OP.

No.

Its not a true RPG. Because it falls under the category of MMORPG...lol...

xD. But for a MMO, you gotta agree that it probably has one of the best storylines in MMO history if not the best :P.

Well thats what SE is good at...story.

Then who made FFXII?

And it does have all the RPG elements, but being online just kicks it right out of that category.

They focused on a political story, which most fantasy story people arent a big fan of ;/

Its story wasnt too bad in its own right.

QFT, I personally thought the story was ok. Of course not better than FFX, but the battle system makes up for that.

Honestly, after playing this game for 5ish years or so, it does feel like a 'true RPG' to me.

Maybe not in the normal sense of that term, like a 'classic' or anything.
As far as my personal experience with the storyline and through my interaction with other players, my character has become very fleshed out in my eyes, making this particular game actually very important to me.
In that sense, to me it is a 'True RPG.'

I guess everyone can take something different from it, but that's my take.

I agree

HOnestly, i do not see it as a RGP at all. MMO's and RPGs are just so vastly different. From the RPGs that i have played there is much more character development and you are pretty much on a set course to the end of the game. in MMO you are free to do whatever there i no set way to play it.

My response to Kelyon is FFX-2.

I also feel that at times the storyline should be more integrated into leveling, but being non-linear as the game is now is probably best. I think it should be considered a 'True' RPG, or as true as an MMO can be considered one.

FF x-2 was the worst excuse for a game. I wipe my ass with the instruction book...

I respect your opinion though and i do think it is a true SE game, just not a RPG.

I only go as far as saying "If SE thinks I'm paying 50 bucks to play 'pretty princess dress me up' for 30+ hours, they've got another thing coming."
