yeah so just ebfore getting booted and unable to log back in i got to test first hand what SE did to ranger.
they over-nerfed us pretty badly.
within melee range hits were a good 50-90 points less than in the "ideal range" damage and range varied with the weapons i used, as did the percentage of loss from being closer.
ie: obow lost less up close per hit than hellfire did.
what this means is a few things.
1. SE just slapped me and every other main ranger, who has spent almost 2 years and many many millions of gil on, in the face. All for the crying of other peoples egos. tyvm.
2. Its totally killed my soloability. want to farm as a rng? good fuckin luck now, gonna take you half again as long and cost half again as much. even farming we spend gil, trick is to bring in more than you spend.
3. this has absolutely ruined a few key rng xppt dynamics.
examples?
try a ranger in a grp in a small camp where you simply CANT stand in ideal range or you risk aggro either behind or infront, aoe from another party, or taking an aoe to the mages. not to mention pulling it away from the rest of the fighters.
also, so much for rng/thf pts. honestly, i lost almost HALF my slugshot damage from close up. I doubt If that even turns a mob. If you tried to do it from range enough to hit max damage youll just pull the mob away from the tank. sure a Good pld/nin and a Good thf could be ready to run after the mob and get the sa/ta off, but um, does either of those 3 main jobs really want the added hassle? its not fun its stupid.
SE more or less tacked on changes that TOTALLY reinvent a job that has been played for 3 years. in a way this benifits absolutely noone. some of these changes are drastic enough that its fundamentally changed the way rangers will play in a party if you "attempt" to do the damage your used to doing within the new rules.
I for one did not invest the time and effort into this class to see it pissed away for no real reason. and i am not comfortable playing ranger just to see my job, my Damage nerfed from what i know it can be to what theyve made it become.
Next we get what a BLM nerf?
think of the uproar wed hear if they forced a BLM to cast an elemental spell on the Proper day of the week or suffer a 25% loss of damage. and suffer a 35% loss of power if they cast on the Opposite day of the spell.
over the next day or two i will seriously be considering whether or not i wish to continue playing this game.
and before you tell me to "get another job", i say this:
im a ranger. but if ranger isnt ranger, then theres not much use to playing.
