So.
I got fucked.
I went up there without a lawyer and planned on pleading guilty, paying my fines, and never returning to Cookeville.
With a plead of guilty, i'm going to have to go to jail for 5 days. That, in turn, is going to cause me to lose my job. That, in turn, is going to make me unable to pay the fines and court costs that are based on my current income.
In addition to that, I will also be on supervised probation for 6 months and unsupervised probation for an additional 6 months.
The judge stated to me that that was the minimum sentance.
So I told him I would get a lawyer instead of doing it the easy way.
If any of you recall me getting busted with 10 pounds about 5 years ago, you may remember that I didn't spend a single day in jail. Because it was reduced to simple possesion. The same charge I have now. My cousin, a first time offender, got the same sentance I did, so I know it wasn't because I have a prior record.
Then there was this other guy that was there for DUI, No DL, felony fleeing, and resisting arrest. You know what he got? 2 days.
I love this country. I really do. It's a beautiful place. It's my home now, always has been, and always will be. But I must say laws like this make me ashamed to be an American. I was one of the only motherfuckers in there that had a job. Because I had a job, I was punished more. Everyone of those jobless layabouts that didn't have a job got $50 court costs, $50 public defender fee.
He slapped me with $200 court costs and $200 PD fee. Because it's based on your income and I made $17000 last year. At a job I DON'T EVEN HAVE ANYMORE.
The judge wasn't serving justice. He was spitting in her face.
I don't know what I'm going to do, but right now I'm trying to calm down to the point of reason so i don't do something drastic and stupid.
