ITT: A monumental failure by Blizzard/Activision

Shocked, I am not.

It's still a pretty colossal failure on their part that this was even considered, much less developed beyond a paper napkin idea.

I'm strangely disappointed that Blizzard backed down on this. I mean, it was a terrible idea that was doomed to failure, due largely to the internet's obsession with anonymity, but in many ways I'd like to see an internet where we all have to own up for the shit we do to other people, and can't hide it behind a new screen name when we decide to try and leave our past behind.

The worry that popped into my head was more along the lines of people taking in game grudges to rl.

Player A gets ganked. Player B did the ganking. Player A looks up Player B's name, then uses that information to track them down and gank them irl.

The end.

It's been banhammered after one of the mods posted their name.

Now it'll be one character for posting on by your account or something like that. So inc level 1 troll accounts go, go, go!
