ITT Rappa solves QCDN's problems

More than once has an old thread been bumped with a new insight or new question just so someone wouldn't have to go to making a new thread and get yelled at for not using the search function. (see: most questions about nin katanas)

Hopefully Reeve will at some point, give you the powers required to run a forum-since he doesn't run it himself. Sure, this will be more work, but will also eliminate time wasted on bots and other sock puppets in the long run. Doesn't someone here play WoW on Reeve's server? lol

You want to take the time to manually go through and do all that? You could always set up pruning, but thats whack if you want to look up info in an old post.

And yeah, reeve hasn't been here for about a week and a half (since the 20th) so at this time i don't think this is a solid idea. If reeves gives admin to cmdr or someone then shit yeah, i say do it, but until then no.

Also lol, i just saw all the lol neo posts people quoted. What a fag.

Divide up the work between mods. Honestly it probably wouldn't take long to lock mostly dead posts. I mean hell no one uses search anyways to look up old posts concerning their question anyways.

Thats true, i mean that "Landlord" video has been posted about 10 damn times. I just think its a waste of time. I mean does a necro really matter that much? Especially if its a useful necro. I mean if it was out of hand the mods could always delete the new posts (which would denecro the thread) and then lock it, then take action on whoever is necroing. Just don't think its a necessity, and seems more like a waste of time. Just my opinion.

I'm assuming this forum like most others has a topic decay option, where topics auto-lock after XX days. I'd say 2-3 months lock 6+ months delete is a good topic decay rate. Or even just 2-3 months lock and leave the topics archived.

Really because most people just go holy necro batman, and the thing never goes away.

Yeah, but you can delete those posts. If the necro post and all posts after it are deleted it should de-necro. Its not like posting "Holy necro batman" is worthwhile so deleting it shouldn't be a big deal.

Its page position remains.

Both Cmdrfly and myself are techincally Admins of the site now, however Reeve needs to fix our permission settings in order to have full access to the administrator control panel.

The first thing that will be done when we can actually do stuff will be to just that, initiate registration authorization. Just a matter of time, or whenever we can get a hold of Reeve.

im not sure if these boards are runed like the ones on atfreeforum.com but could always make some these forums user group base and would have to apply to group in order to post in them.

1) Set-up the site to where new accounts must be approved before they can post.
2) ???
3) Profit!

Okay I did the hard part, now make it happen!

we need sandwiches first

and that legendary time flee-hacker....

Come forth Knightblade! and take us back to 1974

Bump. Because holy shit this thread actually had some good ideas.

/em reclines a bit and chuckles.

/em laughs at your goofy ass photoshop.

Or is this one of those "holy shit he still hasn't fixed the super duper forum clock super plugin neato thing!"?

Hey. The Kamina shades aren't goofy.

And this is more of a "holy shit are you still pretending I was saying something I wasn't?" thing.

He still hasn't given you access? O.O It takes like twelve seconds! Wake his ass up! lol
Made me chuckle. Here's an actual problem that needs attention, and Reeve hasn't even been here in over a week. This is what I'd been saying all along, as a matter of foresight.

More than likely not - vBulletin has crazy extensive customizable permissions. PHP-Nuke, (I think), is the next most obfuscated yet customizable permissions setup.

I just think it's funny that none of our actual admins have every really actually given much of a damn about the game lol. Not that I do either. I haven't been on in two months or so. But still.

That's why (completely unrelated to credentials) I never figured out how Reeve got here. I don't think anyone's ever said _why_ exactly... I don't believe he's played FFXI, and nobody's ever mentioned how Sculli knew him to offer this...

I honestly think that Sculli just asked the admins of the various other boards he visited if they wanted a second place to admin, and Reeve was the first one who accepted.

Can't agree with this idea more, blocks Neolink's 67th incarnation, reduces or eliminates spammers, and discourages idiots from making their first post on the flameboard. (How? If you can't join in 5 seconds effort, you might take a bit more time to think out your first post)
