The thing that really made this story strike such a nerve of nausea with me is the fact that he didn't just do this to a KID, not just to a CHILD, but to a freaking BABY.
That's the part of it I really can't get over, and that's the part of it I can't seem to forget. I know there are people that (quote) "don't like" babies, which I have difficulty enough understanding ... I mean, a baby is literally a living embodiment of the universal, abstract human concept of innocence. What the HELL could they possibly have done to you to make you "not like" them? In spite of my feelings on that kind of mentality, however, I know it's not an uncommon way to feel, and I can accept it.
This, on the other hand, creates a short-circuit in the machinery of my mind. I just can't ... I just don't ... I just can't even CONCEIVE of how any human being, an ADULT human being, could ever feel the need (or be angry enough) to hurt an infant.
Infants, small animals ... I have difficulty really caring one way or the other when two adult bozos shoot each other dead in the street, but there's something so disturbingly predatory about being so vicious to an entity that not only did NOTHING to provoke you in the first place, and has absolutely no means of defending itself against your maliciousness, but also lacks the cognitive faculties to even understand what's happening to it.
I'll say it again ... I really have difficulty dealing with humanity at large, sometimes. >_<
