Quick summoner lesson. If they have a title they are terrestrial. Also all celestial are found on the star chart.

Won't be surprised if Ixion isn't a HNM. WoTG looks forever useless. Prove me wrong SE.

I R LEARNED, THEREFORE I R NOW L337!

OH WAIT, I WAS L337 SUMMONER ALREADY.. if it is a new summons, i hope its not very hard to get as diabolos..

Diabolos wasn't hard to get ~.~

So this means that for now and forever new avatars will be classified under terrestrial?
Also, if Ixion is going to be terrestrial, how will they explain his complete lack of presence in CoP?

Ixion is the soul reaper and harbringer of death. He only appears during times a lot of people die to reap their souls.

He appear during the Crystal War due to it being that, a war, which means a lot of people will and/or have died. During the previous expansions, not a lot of people died, which means he had no reason to show up. Some people foresaw this, and went out to the battlefield in an attempt to catch a glimpse of him and catch him. Thus, he occasionally appears in a zone where Campaign is currently taking place, leaving prints and clues behind him, not very much unlike Odin. Rarely you might be able to catch a sight of him, and by defeating him you can use his powers for your own.

There, I fixed the storyline for SE. And we suddenly gave SMN's the ability to get a rare avatar that's probably rather useless, but still have one ability which is actually decent and get put to good use. At the same time we implemented yet another HNM to camp, which rarely appears and can not be camped due to the random factor of it and the amount of zones he can appear in, like Tiamat only harder to camp and easier to defeat, thus forcing people to invest time in getting something that only slightly (if at all) increases their efficiency.

Except that all the other terrestrial avatars felt compelled enough to come out of their various hiding places to attempt to stop the gate of the gods from being opened. I'm sure as hell Ixion would feel threatened by the possibility of being turned back into a beast as did the rest of the terrestrials.
I say we blame nanomachines like everything these days.

Perhaps Ixion died before CoP? :P

And I don't remember Fenrir coming out of hiding >.O

That's because Fenrir's a pansy and s/he never gets invited to Terrestrial Avatar parties.
S/he does say something to the Kuluu ages past. I can't for the life of me remember what it was though.

check your CoP CS's.

oh and Fenrir predicts the future, so he knows what parties will suck and which are worth going to.

Ya fenrir told me never to party with Zaltana.

I was under the impression there was only a total of 5, 1 for each piece of the mother crystal. Though, I might be wrong on that, if I'm not, I wonder what you would call the rest.

something could have happen to him, you don't see atomos in cop either. My guess being the "reaper of souls" he most likely not the friendly of sorts.

I heard that somewhere before to. Just can't remember where.

edit: In Final Fantasy XI, avatars (part of the game's summoning magic) are controlled by people with the main or support job of summoner. They learn new magic and physical attacks as the summoner progresses in level. The majority of them are obtained by fighting them either solo or in a group in their domain (Protocrystals in the case of the sleeping gods). Their special abilities are unlocked when the summoner activates the ability Astral Flow. At the cost of the Summoner's remaining MP, the avatars can use the special ability unlocked by Astral Flow. The avatars themselves are a major part of the Vana'diel storyline. The protocrystal avatars are of the original gods and each have a myth surrounding them. Then there are five terrestrial avatars born of Vana'diel to protect the five mothercrystals. The Federation of Windurst's storyline deals with the banned magic of summoning and the death of its greatest hero, Karaha-Baruha, a summoner who sacrificed himself to call forth Fenrir and destroy the Yagudo forces invading Windurst. The two most recent expansions have dealt heavily with avatars, Chains of Promathia with the terrestrial avatars (Phoenix, Diabolos, Fenrir, Carbuncle, and Bahamut), and Aht Urghan with the celestial Alexander and Odin. Not all avatars are available to the player - Phoenix, Bahamut, Odin, and Alexander only make story appearances. Summoners can also form pacts with elementals that rely more on magic and behave more on their own. It is explained that summoned avatars are only a portion of the avatar, with the exception of elemental summonings.

Hell, what's stopping them from creating a new classification of avatars then?
Didn't even consider Atomos an avatar. Considered him more of a... space creature.

The way you feel about Atomos is the way I feel about Anima. Another avatar that can go into the space creature class is Bahamut Zero. Wait, I jumped the FFXI fence didn't I...
