Jack-o'-Lanterns and my NIN

OK, so I am trying to level my NIN (21 atm) and a LS member suggested I use jack-o'-lanterns as food.

I know the CHR-10 does adversely effect hate, but I'm not sure to what degree, because he said he never had issues with holding hate.

My other question is how effective are the accuracy+10 and evasion+10? I've never really noticed any dramatic increase in my accuracy or evasion while using these with any job. It kind of seems like a placebo to me.

Anyone have any kind of proof that shows a marked increase (or decrease, lol) of accuracy and/or evasion while using this food? I'm just starting to find it hard to believe the food effect stats.

If the food does work, is this better than sushi for NIN at this level (21)?

This is the best food for nin till at least like lvl 40, in my opinion. You can also go for dorado sushi, which helps hold a hate a bit, but wont increase your acc as much as a jack-o at this lvl.

CHR does not affect hate in anyway. I cannot repeat this enough.

yeah, sushi isnt really worth using before combat skills of 100, since sushi adds acc by %. I kind of laugh every time I see people in valkurm, qufim and yuhtunga pop sole sushi...

Note that some claim that Charisma affects Enmity loss rate. This is false, according to an interview conducted with Square Enix on April 24, 2004, where it was disclosed that Charisma is not associated with Enmity in any way.

Jack o is your best friend until late Garlaige Citadel or early Crawlers Nest lvls. After that you can go sushi ;D

Been a while but personally I used Navarin before sushi. If I remember correctly, I started using it at 24 after getting Emp. Hairpin till 37, at which point I used sushi since Eva. wasn't that big of a concern anymore with Ni. I rarely had any hate problem using it, except a few times with thfs SATAing other people.

but i have heard a lot of rumors of CHR helping hold hate....
you know as u see the PLDs with CHR+ rings all the time
at end game levels..

CHR is to help with Killer effects in combination with other gear, not hate. PLD's can bulk up on the CHR+ from Koenig...I've never seen a PLD wearing a CHR+ ring personally.

CHR also affects the chance of you being charmed by a BST type NM/Boss. Would really suck if the Tank got charmed, which pretty much leads to a wipe. (not that it would help a lot, kinda like the useless job traits that kick in just a little more than normal resistance)

I'm leveling NIN atm as well, I've noticed quite a bit EVA + since using the Jack-o-lantern's.

Some fights against crabs I can evade and parry so much, I only need 1-2 Utsusemi casts per fight. The only mobs I've seen that really make the jack-o's useless are bats, but that's b/c of the EVA down they cause. I tend to have more trouble tanking those than Gigas.

All in all, I would invest in 2-3 Jack-o's per Party, just incase of deaths or last minute Mijin Gakure,.

Biggest difference I've seen is when I had to 2hr on a link, When I was raised food was gone, so had to use Squid Sushi for the remainder of pt, I used more tools in 30 min, than I had for an hour before hand. So, I definately believe the cheap little pumpkins work.

Any NM that is BST type that is going to charm your tank is probably going to use bst 2hr to charm. Also if you are fighting something like that you should probably have a back up tank for this.

You get 1 point of accuracy for every point of skill you have, so just having skill will give you enough accuracy to make sushi worthwhile.

Well with Jack O' Lantern u get +10 Acc . That's going to help a lot with hate .

Eva+10 yes please!.

-10 CHR doesnt matter. CHR means nothing in Hate.

Other foods like Mithkabob its worthless because ninja miss a lot in low lvls. for my experience and Sushi is worthless and Jack O'lanter its going to give u more Acc and plus extra+10 Eva.
