this is alittle far fetched but say for example a LS gave you the chance to get a free ridiil that you didnt have to work for..and they didnt need it, would you turn them down because you didnt earn it?

no this situation would NEVER happen but, using the item as an example since most people know what it is and how rarely it drops. personally i dont give a shit if i have a chance at a FREE item that i need/want id be all over it..but dont get me wrong..i wouldnt support RMT for it.(in the sense of giving them money or gil for the item)

Using a legit LS that doesn't have a need for a ridill is ok. Chances are though you'd have to spend a lot of gil for a Ridill. Also you're getting items and helping mostly legit players. You aren't supporting RMT by going to a legit shell asking how much is a ridill if it drops and everyone has it.

That's an incredibly stupid comparison that is in no way valid to the discussion going on. In your example, you're being given the item(or even paying for it if they ask for some money in return for lotting rights), what Orin did was steal the item. He was supposed to give them money for the item, but didn't; that's called stealing.

Him not earning it wasn't the issue, the issue was him using illegitimate means to obtain the item. He's saying that he should be able to steal items because he doesn't have the time to invest in the game to get things legitimately; the fact that he thinks he's doing something praiseworthy enough for a good times thread just shows how stupid he really is.

i dont know i think the whole situation is flimsy. the majority of the people here would take a free item if they needed it..just depends on what item and how its obtained(RMT or Legit)

as for the original post...he didnt assist the RMT in anyway(based on what he said) he didnt fight the pop(i assume)..he didnt give them pop items...he didnt pay them...and he didnt pay them gil..

I am a big fan of earning your gear, but there's a monumental difference between obtaining an item legitimately without earning it and stealing the item. That's the thing you're completely ignoring in this situation, the fact that he stole the item.

There's plenty of people who legitimately obtained gear that didn't really earn it, I don't care about those people though; but then they're also not stealing their gear and making good times threads about it.

So....you Hate RMT(almost everyone does)...yet you would show them enough respect not to wrong them..even though they effect your economy/ah and NMs by cheating and boting? grow some fucking balls

Even if they are RMT they can still call a GM if you fuck with them and steal items from them. That is why we don't really fuck with RMT for this reason. No where does it say you can't purchase abjurations or r/ex from players RMT or not. Of course most of us wont because it's aiding the RMT.

Grow some brains and some morals. He's a thief, doesn't matter who it's from. There's several people who have been blackballed for the same actions; he should get the same, especially with his attitude of "it doesn't matter what I do, I have a real life and you don't." There's no reason to trust this guy at all; hell, with his attitude I wouldn't be surprised in the least to find out that he's bought gil. If he's not willing to put forth the minimum effort required to get something as common as M. hands, then he's not likely to spend time farming either.

"Grow some balls?" How about "get some scruples" to you and your buddies that think somehow doing shady and detestable things, regardless of who you're doing it to, makes you some kind of posterboy? Last I checked being a thief is being a thief. You don't suddenly cease to have some kind of personal respectability because you're dealing with RMT. I thought the reason we hated them so much was because we were in general better than they were, by play and by conduct. At least the RMT have no illusions about what they are and what they do and are pretty in your face about it. What makes me even more sick than RMT are the "legit" people who do something dirty and underhanded and act like that's an accomplishment.

Oh and btw... For all of us "losers" who "have no lives?" I've got a great life outside FFXI, complete with college education, boyfriend, and a social life. And in the time I've played here, I have 3 level 75 jobs that I play damn well, each of which is well-geared (including god gear, relic, and a number of pieces I farmed my ass off for). You want to take shortcuts because you can that's your business. But don't presume to accuse anyone who doesn't use lazy bullshit as an excuse of having no life.
 
I find it a bit funny, they really really nice when they think they gonna get gil from ya.

Seriously they are gonna wise up and demand the gil up front, and eventually start doing this shit to poor ignorant cheaping pla....

You may or may not have stolen from RMT. My opinion on it if you have is neutral at best, but...

Let's hope this hasn't opened an avenue for people to buy off RMT, claim that they stole off them on this forum (just incase they were seen or had someone screen shot them) then get off with it on a much better moral ground than simply buying off them.

This could set a dodgy precedent.

They don't even come off as a hero either way.

I'm neutral on the issue. Yeah, they screwed over RMT, but they got an item without earning it, and they could very well call GMs on them. I think GMs have gained the power to settle disputes over money. And since there's no immediate proof that they're RMT (despite the unusually high amounts of BLMs, odd names, etc.), they could get away with getting him suspended over it.

If anyone ever plans to do the CFH thing though, shoot me a tell. I wanna watch :D

First off I'd just like to say that most of the posts of yours I've seen have been you bitching and whining. Second the whole "I have a family" excuse is really fucking getting to me. Wow you have a family, do you want a fucking medal? A lot of people here have a fucking family and still have multiple 75 jobs+end game shells/gear etc. It's not that fucking hard to manage your social life and family life to have it fit what ever you want to do.

And Lec I really have to stand by you about this point. Just because you're what like 25-30 or what ever doesn't mean you have to grow up and be super mature and such. This game is about having fun, it doesn't matter what age you are. I know a few people who are in there 40s and still love the game have families, people to take care of ect, and still have multiple 75 jobs ect like I said before.
