So i bought this game today figuring that with not being able to log on, and tomorrows update i would have some time for another game. I'm going along and fighting and talking to people.

well i had a few quests in the town that i started in, but following the stoy line that town blew up, am i SOL on those quests?

And also i'm getting other quests as i go along, should i do them before continuing with the story?

I've never liked rpg's but playing ffxi has spawned an interest in me.

I'm travelling in this game atm, should i stop and do all these quests i get, or finish the story?

I usually try to complete the given quests before advancing in RPG's, but for some quests you NEED to advance to complete them. I'd try to do them and see how far you can get before following the storyline anymore.

But of course I have never played Jade Empire, I'm just speaking for RPG's in general...

I have Jade Empire and it totally rocks. I am almost finished with the game now and I have to say that it is one of the best RPG games I have played. The only problem is that once you have finished a chapter and moved on to the next location you can not go back to the previous locations to finish up side quests so get them done before going to far on the main quest.

Yeah in Jade Empire, and most other rpg's it's best to finish all side quests before moving on with a storyline objective, since sometimes you can't go back to some areas to do side quests.

I haven't played Jade Empire, but ive watched my roomate play it (his game) and it seems like a very awesome action packed rpg. He wen't through the first time being a good little boy and he's beaten it already. So now he chose the Scholar Ling chick to play as he goes threw it being a mean dirty bastard. Though he hasn't played it that much on the second time through.

Games like this are fun to play through twice since you can be good or evil and it effects the side quests you take as well as the main storyline. Bioware rocks.

This game rocks. Period.

I too ran into the sidequest issue when I released the Dam gates and flooded a village :( ah well, Ive been working double hard to finish all the other sidequests now.
I chose Scholar Ling (super sexiness +100) and recently got my Dragon Sword.

Dragon Sword + lvl 16 = Badass ^^b

Ive also managed to get Ling's "good side" up to an almost ethereal glow.
I love the little spiked Halo that hangs over my head during inactivity :)

Great RPG, however, after playing FFXI for over a year, all other RPG's seem to lack in many areas like difficulty, overall open-endedness and especially in interactiveness. Single Player RPG's have no sense of community like a MMORPG has. But, despite my online spoiledness, this game has to be one of the best RPG's ever IMHO.

Edit: holy over use of the suffix "ness" .... guh!
