Just thought I'd add to the melee rdm discussion, since I know you all love debating it >.>

I've had success meleeing as rdm/nin on greater colibri. Party setup was nin,mnk,rng,whm,brd,rdm. I realize there are better setups for this camp, I prefer rdm,brd + 4 melee. But this was a party we formed with friends plus a random monk. Also our bard didn't want to pull.

Anyway, I was able to melee part of the time, I'd never have hate when the colibri would use TP moves so I just ate sushi and got my madrigal and minuet from the bard. I'd pull a colibri, sleep it, then help bring down the previous one, and when that died, repeat. I was able to do enough damage with enspells and Savage Blade to help us to keep the chain alive.

This is really the only time I've melee'd in an exp party on my rdm since I was low level, but the point is it CAN be marginally effective in certain circumstances, IF you have the right gear (food of course too).

I wouldn't recommend this to most RDMs though, the biggest problem with your average RDMs meleeing is that they completely neglect their other more important duties, like refresh/haste/cure/debuff/pull, etc. But if you can handle taking care of that stuff and swapping lots of gear for short stretches of meleeing, try it next time you have a brd and whm at colibri and you are sitting there picking your ass cause there's nothing for you to do.

Oh, and having enough skill to land spells like sleep on IT mobs consistently without switching to staff helps.

I believe that considering the situation I was very kind in my post towards him...I knew there would be some reubuttle in this situation but I expecting the least of it from someone like you. Ask anyone, please. Please ask anyone out there about who I am. I am the furthest from a bitch, but certain ppl as such have gotten on my last thread of patience.


Please explain something for me. If you saw someone doing a horrible job in their part of the party, would you let it go? Let someone continue to mess up even though it could easily be remedied by a few suggestions. That is the purpose of this flame. TO INFORM those who are looking for a bard of his level. NOT TO downright bash his way of playing for the sake of making me feel good. I'm sorry if he was upset by the flame on his performance as a bard, but I wasn't about to warn other's of his lack of respect for the opinions of other's. I was not appreciative of the "what crack are you smoking" comment I received, when really in all honesty I was trying to help. Yeah he really seemed to be a nice kid after that, thus I lost all respect for him. He immediately put up a defensive barrier as if I was out to attack him. I'm sure you see it in this manner, but I'm really starting to lose interest in players such as Jamesy.


Others use the flameboard as means to harass other players. Please in what way am I "flame-baiting" or harassing anyone? If he really felt upset by my post, I would have spoke to him personally about the way I handled the situation. I received no PM, or /tell in game. So I assumed he read it and got over it. But yet again it is the flameboard on qcdn aka DRAMA AT IT'S BEST! Also....he's 15....15 years old. It's not as if he's 9. I was sure he was a tough kid, and that he could take this flame, and explain his side if he so wished to. Apparently not...I apologize for not knowing this.

I have partied with Areya on one occasion so far. Yes, she did at first come in like she was there to boss people around, when she looked at the pt setup and was a bit weary of it. But, that only comes out of concern for the entire party, and wanting to make something out of her time spent in the party, instead of it being a complete waste. Is Areya a bitch??? I think not. Not when she is only trying to help people that she can see are in need of a few helpful suggestions.

As for you Scarce, you are only further adding to your own demise. If this was "only a game" to you, you would have completely dropped the subject after your initial response. The fact that you keep re-kindling the fire tells me that you care way too much on a personal level what a person you have never even met cares about you/your friend. You know you aren't making fast exp when you have a melee bard. They are only slowing you down by not giving the right songs to the right people. Then they slow down even more by not enfeebling the mob to slow it down and slowly work away the hp.
