Six-Flags over Georgia has something similar, just no sand and fake landscape.

I heard about that place years ago. It's neat but having something like that wouldn't make it better than America, the fact that they don't charge something crap like $500 to get in would actually be what makes them better in this case.

That is super cool Japan! What would be even awesomer is if you'd cut your construction budget back from reconstruction levels which lead to the creation of absurd projects, such as cementing every fucking piece of riverbank and destroying landscapes to build art museums without art! Btw, get some environmental regulations, because you don't really have them.

Your friend,

You realize that this was built because of Japan's poor water conditions and health risks from pollution and bad weather on their "real beaches". I don't think they would just spend hundreds of millions of dollars to make this thing just to show off. And the roof is not plasma screens, it is either just white material that acts much like a massive projector screen or a material capable of having different tints to it with the example in the picture showing a transparent setting so the outside sky can show through without the harmful effects of UV rays which is what I think it is doing since the projector screen idea would need to keep the inside fairly dark to see anything on the roof.
