I have nothing against jaanese players. This could just be a difference in cultures or maybe its not, I don't know, but it pisses me off ><

I get some japanese /t occassionally. Ok, fine. Hmm..I don't understand any of it. 'PT' isnt in it, so I'm not sure. /t back {I don't speak Japanese} ^^;

nothing...

nothing...

nothing...

This really pisses me off. I am fine if they dont want the language barrier. but PLEASE FUCKING TELL ME SOMETHING! Hell, even an {I'm sorry} would do.

But NO! No further communication. Maybe that's how it is in Japan ( i dont know ). If it is, then I can't blame them. If it isn't, what the fuck?! I understand the JP/NA tensions, but to completely ignore the fact that I am someone real behind the character is stupid.

thanks

ive found the same thing when i make that response, so i do the auto translate for "please use auto translate function""party?"

after they find out they sent a tell to an NA, sometimes they commit seppuku to restore honor.

I hate it when I send a tell to someone that I am sure I have pted with and talked to in the past, and they tell me {I dont speak english}. Then you see them a few days later, and the send you a /t in english...lol

JP people around peak times in JP time which is around 8PM~12AM there are a bunch of people who still don't like to party with NA people no matter what. I usually give chances to any PT EXCEPT the 10~20 maybe 30~40 aswell not sure... Why? Erm... If I have to explain this field I could right an essay of 1000 words...

In my LS there are usually JP people mature enough to party with anyone. We are both human for christ sakes... But again in some fields there are differences in culture. Let me explain this to you.

For most of JP members, their playstyle reflects their culture alot. We have strong belief of Helping out everyone and help yourself aswell. How ever, the NA people (not all) has strong belief on their individual right, individual freedome due to the fact that America is a Free country (I think... if I am mistaken correct me). Some people use this fact and try doing what ever they want in a party. This is what ticks the JPs. (I believe in this. I don't think everyone rejects NA just for this) The playstyle also reflects greatly on this. So far I have seen this true.

People who put some rude comments on their search comments are usually inmature school or university kids. Similar to some NA school and university kids who like to be cool and such. Language barrier is big, and I understand that people want to spend their partying time with enjoyment putting some chatting in between. But when their playing time becomes far from the JP peak times or like me, far from both NA and JP peaktimes you cannot really have a choice. If you want to exp, you will have to party with NA or JP no matter what if you want exp. There is no preference nor anything, you have been given the opportunity to party, its actually take it or don't join.

Yes I too get offended when I joined a JP PT and the leader sends tell to someone and happens to be NA, then he say "oops he was NA". So what? We need that job, it doesn't matter what culture it is... so long that they can fullfill their role that is. But not returning the tell is very sad and unrespectfull.

Please get me in a JP PT then, sometime, because apparently I'm japanese in my playstyle. :D

My view on the PT is best summed up by an American saying which for some reason Americans tend to ignore: There is no "I" in the word "TEAM."

If somebody wants to do whatever the fuck they want, then they should go play some game where they aren't going to ruin somebody else's fun.

ˆˆ hahaha I can do the jap verion of ^^. :D

anyhow, its not just JP players who think na players are retards, i think theres alot of retarded NA's.

We are lazy and don't wanna work hard to get the best out of this game. We don't care if that thf insiists on subbing whm,

But as of I, I do care about this crap, And it has beneifit me greaty, I get great exp per day, I party with both NA and jap, ( it helps to be rank 5+ IMO )

I think i lost my trrain of though greatly, did i make any sense to you guys, i hope so, lol.

its JP or Japanese, not 'jap'! That's probably one reason for some tensions

This must be very RARE but I have never had a problem with a Japanese player ..EVER.

When I first started I ran into them alot due to the late nights/early mornings I played.

Courtesy will take you a long way.

Don't get me wrong most of party experience is with NA parties but with a good courteous search comment will take you a lot further than you think.

This is just my personal experience that I thought would share.

I can speak some broken Japanese so it does help a bit but for the most part all you need is your attacks and motions put into auto-translate in party chat.

Most of the excellent exp parties that I have been in where very quiet we set up BEFORE we fight then just FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT until we're blue in the face.

Unless someone is really messing up there is no reason to have to speak too much as you should be fighting and chaining anyway.

Ok I am done "preaching to the choir".

Thanks for listening,

Mo..

What's the differnce between jap and JP? if you pheneticly sound them out, its the same,

I can tell you right now when you send just the [I don't speak Japanese]phrase back, JP take this as [sorry I don't speak Japanese please look for someone else]. Maybe if you add a little more to your message you might get a tell back. [I don't speak Japanese] XP PT [please invite me] or something like that. If they don't send you a tell back, then whatever to them. Like it was said before it's a difference of cultures and how certain mesages are viewed in the auto translator. If you choose to get angry over it then oh well :?

Here is my 2 cents on this whole JP only issue: (/em zips up flame suit)

I play with the JP version of FFXI, I speak and write fluenty in Japanes. I have met and PT'ed and chatted with a lot of JP people playing this game that don't understand english at all. Even simple conversations they have trouble following. So a lot of them would just rather avoid the whole subject and stay with what is comfortable to them. While other JP friends I have like to PT with NA's and don't care at all. They speak in broken english or ask me to translate stuff but they seem to get by and have fun. It all depends on who it is but I would say those people are becoming rare.

Also when you get to the higher levels of PT'ing communication starts to become very important. There are so many things each person needs to do keep the PT functioning smoothly and without proper communication that becomes diffilcult. Yes, there is the auto translator function, but as you all know it lacks a lot. Even simple phrases like "your welcome" are not even there.

Lastly, who wants to sit in a PT for a couple hours not knowing what the PT is talking about? I would think it would get really boring or like a lot of my NA friends they get paranoid and say "I think they are making fun of me" JP people may be thinking the same thing.

Long story short language and culture is a pertty large barrier. Some choose to take the challenge of over coming the hump, many do not. There may be lots of resentment on both sides but it's going to happen and there is nothing we can really do about it.

P.S. Just becaue the PT is JP does not make it "Ubber" I have had some shitty JP PT's. So far the best PT I have ever had was when I had my static PT with my LS in the mid to late 60's. Thumbs up to my brothers and sisters in FB :D

Yea I do get kind of uncomfortable when i just see japenese being spoken, i always think they're talking about me lol.

I'm always paranoid about ffxi crap, its my life now isnt it?

I mean i do play this game 10 hours a day....LOL

You can make a name for yourself as well. Not just in the way you play, but in the way you party. What I mean is that you can have the best gear and play well, but if you go AFK alot, have annoying spam in macros, or (and this is my personal favorite :x ) joing a party then leave 20 min later, you are not helping. Bear in mind that the JP impression of us is already bad, so you must work that much harder.
I know as a 33 Blm, I was runnin around windhurst doing quests for fame and recieved a /tell in japeneese. I responded with {Im sorry, I dont know how to answer that question}. Through more /tells using the translate, I determined it was an XP party, so I hopped the airship and met them in jeuno. We partied next to the banishing gate in Garbage Shittadel, and raked in the XP. I went from low 33 to high 35 (after taking whm through these levels, I knew how wonderful it was to be done in one night lol) in 3 hours. I actually hit EVERY mb and there were sometimes 2 a fight. It was late on a sunday. I gave a 30 min warning and an {Im sleepy}. When I logged the leader gave me a {thank-you} {good} {black mage}. After that I recieved more and more invites to JP parties, to which I can only attribute to that first party. Anyway, long story made short, change your reputation as an individual, it can be done.
