Well this happened a while ago, but i just felt like flaming ..so heregoes.. Around the time i was lv72 samurai seeking for some exp, i get an invite from an NA friend of mine informing me he had a party of 4 JP's and him, and wanted me for the last slot, i said sure, i had no problems with JP's i just wanted some exp.. so we get going up to sky, and around the zone to ro'maeve i ask nicely with auto-translate if the bard had Sinewy / Herculean etude, and if i could get it during fight, they didn't respond, i ask again in Hall of the Gods, still no response, then they start talking among themselves in japanese, and every few words would be "Samurai" or "Alyssan" so i naturally assumed they were talking about me.. i ignore it and ask once more when we reach Ru'Aun gardens, throwing in an extra "Please" in auto-translate .. And i get this "<Too Weak> <Samurai>" ..... so .. i /tell my NA friend and say "I'm not gonna put up with this.." but he asked me to stay since there were no other DD's to fill my spot, so i stayed for his sake. we zone into Shrine of Ru'Avitau and i ask once more still very politely for the etudes during battle.. He stops, Says " NA <mind> <too weak> " and then casts the MND + Etudes on me.. "Learned Etude" etc.. that was that.. i disbanded party and warped back to jeuno..

Moral of the story.. Don't party with JP's .. The majority of them hate NA players. I know this from a long history of exping / talking with one of the few JP friends i have. I had in no way provoked this player, or done anything to offend him. But he decided to be a dick because he has a personal grudge against NA players.

Something within my first 10 posts... *sigh* i been doing this too long.

Anyway .. on topic and all. I know i'm being a bleeding heart and playing devil's advocate on this and all but it's kinda harsh to judge all JPs based on the actions of a few ignorant ones, just my personal opinion .. i mean, i've met just as many dipshits from any country you can think of at some time or another.
 
In my experience, the madrigal or minuet you would lose is almost always more beneficial than a STR etude. I won't try too hard to defend him since it sounds like he was being pretty rude, but if I was BRDing and someone was bugging me repeatedly to play a song I thought would do more harm than good, I might get a bit touchy.

And Mokk's right... even if this guy's an ass, you shouldn't be judging all JP players based on his actions.
 
The JP were wrong in being insulting, but at the same time the BRD likely didn't have the English to explain to you why he wasn't going to give you the etudes. If the brd didn't want to do it after the first 2-3 requests, you should likely drop it and just his judgement. Was getting etudes really worth ruining a party over? I also don't see the reasoning behind giving up +29 accu from blade madrigal or the big attack boost from minuet 4 for the weak etudes which require constant refreshing (they drop in power fast) and extra songs for the brd.

LOL Firestreak, I was just thinking of that thread when I was writing this. Pretty good clone. :lol:
 
I agree with rone. but you gotta admit the whole "NA mind too weak" then casts spirited etude was a bit much.
 
I'm not even going to comment how I feel about people saying not to party with JPs. I have experienced plenty of their racism first hand but my best friend by far happens to be a Japanese girl. There are varying feelings depending on which Japanese person in question and not a single specific name was even mentioned.

If it was logical in any regard to judge an entire race by the behavior certain individuals we'd all be fucked. Look at Hitler, look at George Bush, or... hell, just look at Vang.
 
hey, i say that "<mind><too weak>" to NA players too... but like everyone said, BRD prolly thought that ACC or ATK songs were more better than your STR etudes requests... and your constant nagging for etudes was probably annoying that particular player.

or maybe your equip wasn't up to par, i DON'T FUCKING KNOW.
 
Wasn't constant nagging, i didnt even get replies for the first two requests and i speak SOME japanese.. enough to understand if he were telling me no, and the STR etudes are a massive help to me at lv74 with thief sub , both together give me an extra 300-500 dmg at least , per WS , (SATA + WS is more STR based) And as for accuracy, i have more than enough accuracy equipment on me to never miss a hit even without sole sushi, and the added attack from minuet i dont find useful since being a sam/thf , 90% of my damage is in WS's and not melee attacks, i could care less how hard i hit as long as i get TP for a good WS dealing 1000-1500 DMG .

I have only two close JP friends that i talk to frequently, and they both tell me that the majority of JP players do not like NA's in general, for whatever reasons.

dont mention hitler next to bush. bush is way worse and way more successful and being a lunatic. also vang doesnt belong there mentioned next to them. vang hasnt done anything good enough to be considered a lunatic. he is just annoying.

I would have to see this first. I've never seen anyone have their ws dmg go up that much regularly from etudes. Also, the high lvl str etude's bonus drops down very quickly, thus unless you ws at just the right time you aren't getting much bonus. Additionaly, for the brd to try to stack on two +str etudes after giving mad+min to the other melees is a hassle as he has to time it just right so he finishes when you are about to ws.

Funny, because I've seen some DD with max +accu, using sole sushi, and blade madrigal (from me) who only get ~90% accu according to parser results. Without one of those their accu commonly drops to ~75-80%, without either it drops much farther. Yet you claim near 100% accu without sushi or madrigal. Finally, without minuet 4 you will likely have the problem I see most thfs have, they hit for 0 and can't get tp.

You are the lunatic to claim anyone is worse than Hitler. The only one to ever come close was Stalin. Get your head out of the ground and actually look at what happens in the world. If you want to actually discuss the issue and do more than take cheap shots, I suggest you throw your piece here. We had some very good discussion of politics there and it could use some fresh meat. You can hate Bush, I don't mind, but he is no Hitler.
 
hey rones if you'd like to experiment with the STR etude sometime i'm game, it'd be cool to see what would happen ^^
