Jaridah Peti VS. SH for XP THF

I'm looking at whether 5 acc is worth losing 5 att. I just dinged 57 last time I xp'd THF, and prior to that was getting TP in under a minute, so atm the 5acc looks pretty useless.

I'm wondering if people have gone Peti over SH. Also, would some of the older THFs have used a Peti over SH. This is strictly XP, not solo, i know what I'm using solo.
 
I'd judge it more by what your fighting and what lvl you are vs the mob.

I'd say the extra att is good with low evasion mobs or when you are later in the lvls alloud for your camp.

But mobs like tormah which your getting close to, or thf job mobs I'd go sh. Also I'd wear sh when pulling, any extra evasion helps.

If you play on pc I'd suggest also parsing it. Do like a 20 round deal for both after capping dagger for that lvl. That will give you the best results for your play style between all your gear not just those two.

Akinji Peti honestly looks better for an exp pt than SH to me.
With shadows+naturally high evasion and an A-...A+ ? in evasion.. not to mention you shouldnt be taking that many hits period, I would think this would be a no-brainer.

However, there will always be those people who will say any thief not in a SH is a Newb.. Without actually parsing the information and looking at the numbers.. I told myself when I started thief I wouldn't go /nin until raptors.. post 50.. by 26 I got so tired of hearing /nin or no invite that I was forced to level Ninja.. even though I use an average of about 15 Shihei a pt.. as main puller... and most of those are from my shadows wearing off..

I saw the post in event scheduling about your static, so I'm assuming you wouldnt hear any crap about wearing Akinji, I would go with the attack.
 
I personally think JP is better than the SH for exp but once you stop stacking TA with a WS you can grab hate decently or tank depending on timing of JA and WS so I leave SH on for the EVA boost. Now if you own an AJ hands down wear that instead over a SH, but thats an obvious descision.
When you add more acc on when you alread have enough its best to sacrifice acc elsewhere to improve ATK. You can also just wear an assailants ring to get get the best of both worlds. you would have the same acc and atk while getting to keep the +10 eva.
 
You still need the SH for soloing purposes outside of exp. get the SH, and trade one of your Sniper rings in your melee set for a Victory Ring or some such, or at 60 trade a PCC/PCA for Chiv Chain.
 
SH it up with an Assailants ring. Same results as if you were doing Peti/2x Woodsmans/Snipers.

They didn't have the Peti when I was a lv57 THF, but looking at the stats I'd go with the Peti since you have no problems with Accuracy already. The Peti will help more than a SH, not only because of the attack, but the RACC as well.
I'm sure you use acid bolts, the racc will only help lands those even more.

Oh god for Toramas ACC dear god ACC... keep your SH just for those. I was packing PCC Snipersx2 Sushi and SH on those and they still pissed me off

My point is that you Have a SH for soloing. Use it for XP and ditch an acc ring. Probably get better results than Peti
 
I actually did the testing on this exact case for you man. I started releveling my thief when the pedi came out a while ago. My thief was level 58 and I took it to 65. I had the SH and the peti because I had the SH for my monk when I solo'd. Anyways, here is what I found out.

The torama obviously suck. No matter what your gear, it won't be fun. You can actually skip them altogether if you wish to be creative and hit up some other, less heard of places for EXP. Regardless, let's just skip out on the Torama for the purpose of this.

If you're looking at thief, /war is a great sub. You will get some serious grief for it, but there is a solution. Get a few friends with you that are good players, and make your own party. If you use a high damage dagger, e.g. darksteel kukri+1 or the like, and you eat sushi, you can honestly have 1 rajas ring and 1 victory ring, plus a PCC. Or, you can have 1 sniper, 1 victory/rajas, chiv chain and the pedi make for a mean ass SATA DE. If done right you can get over 1k+ to the raptors in valley of sorrows, which you are coming up to soon.

Overall, to cut this short, the pedi is a great piece for thief, especially for weaponskill. I know 5 attack doesn't sound like a lot but with berserk up and some sole sushi and a few other pieces of attack gear, you WILL hit the big numbers.

Test it out yourself, but if it is a matter of money, you can mix a whole slew of odds and ends gear to make one mean ass thief. Trust me, I did it and I loved it. Have some cool ass macros that swap in a bunch of possibly inexpensive, yet useful gear for your SATA DE macro and you will be shocked at the outcome.

It pays to think outside the box. Go with the pedi and see what you like the most.
 
suprised no one even mentioned raparree harness the 5% haste and str 5> over 5 att in dd terms?

of course its just a mage standpoint of view
 
the stats on the harness are +4% haste and +2 r.acc :p so... while it is a decent TP piece, it isn't always the best...

as many have said, if you have no issues hitting something, use a peti. If you are just starting out in an area though, or are the lowest member in your party, SH may be the way to go.
 
Haste setups are for when you get a decent amount of haste gear combined and tend to rely on killing t-vt to allow the player to get away with less acc as well as merits to let one need less acc.

That haste+4% harness is probably going to be in storage until the 70s if not 75.
 
Harness only works when stacked with other haste gear. 4% Haste is meaningless, but 12% from harness, Swift Belt, and Subligar isnt.

i wish there was peti when i levelled thief. i didnt use sh until 65+ because no money and i was fine with accuracy. I used sushi+lifebelt+some cheap acc rings. Sh may be good for solo but you already have a very high evasion as thf, +10 evaison not worth the 2 millions if you have not too much money. Thf buy SH for acc in exp pt, not for eva. Its like O hate we want accuracy, evasion is a bonus. That being said, having more+eva can only help.
