Graahhh, i need to install BlueJ (java tutorial program) for my Comp. science class...

i got it installed and everything fine.
Kept crashing after a few sec of running.
went to java.sun.com to get latest version of java.
continued to crash.
---
was advised to uninstall java and bluej, reinstall both.

really though, i can care less about blueJ.
The problem is, after installing the latest version of java, limewire wont open.

the ver. im using is "Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 6"

any clue why i'm still getting the above picture's error message?

First, Welcome to the wonderful world of Java Hating. Now that's out of the way...

My guess is whatever BlueJ did to corrupt your Java VM carried over when you upgraded as well. I would say completely nuke your Java installation and clean up everything that BlueJ did as best you can (ie, left over program files after uninstallation is finished). Then try to reinstall Java's latest version. If it still continues to crash, then it's probably a residual registry entry that doesn't get correctly removed by the uninstallation program... Which is most unfortunate.

At this point, curse at Microsoft Windows for it's stupid pointless Registry database. ;-)

In the event that a clean reinstallation doesn't help, I would try to google problems with BlueJ and see if anyone else has come across the same issue. They might be able to point out the offending key entry so that you can do a truely clean reinstall.

Sorry I can't offer more insight than that. We avoid Java like the plague in my development team.
