Jesus on a licence plate

That can also be seen as insulting because in juxtapose it basically gives the connotation that you either trust/believe in God or reason.

That's how it is. Reasonable people don't believe in God. By definition faith is unreasonable. In fact faith is a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. That is unreasonable.

I disagree. People can reason due to different experiences. Reason can't really be given a blanket definition. I'm perfectly reasonable thank you.

Then again, saying what you just did, no one in the world is reasonable. Everyone has a point in which they cannot reason. Everyone in the world is ignorant, no one knows absolutely everything. Laying it all down on religion, which seems to be the in thing now a days, is itself ignorant because you do not know of why people believe what they do. Just like I am ignorant because I do not know why you believe what you do. See how that works?

lol jesus shaved his armpits.

Furthermore, am I the only one that thinks it's strange that he always looks like a white guy?

Welcome to one of the most hilariously stupid things about most Christians.

lol, for real?

yes, for real.

I don't particularly give a shit either way, or see it as insulting, although invariably there will be those persons who do. I won't look at a "In Reason We Trust" plate and go "fuck them, they're shoving their non-faith in my face".

yes, for real.

What I meant by that is there is way too much back and forth over this fucking religion thing. It is both sides fault for letting it continue. whether it be the extremist Bible thumpers for not letting people do with their lives what they want whether it be gay marriage or what have you, or the non-religious people who scream "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE" whenever something mildly religious comes up, like it's throwing acid in their faces.

People need to keep out of eachothers business if it doesn't effect them personally.

Affect, and yes. And, to be honest, I'm proud of QCDN in this thread in that respect.

I'm not defining reason, I'm using it in a sentence cause I assume you already know what it means. And you would, if you were to be reasonable about it. Instead, you would like me to specify that I think it is unreasonable to believe in god. Some people that believe in god are perfectly rational and logical in other aspects of their life. As for your claims of being reasonable... you aren't off to a good start.

Then again, saying what you just did, no one in the world is reasonable. Everyone has a point in which they cannot reason.

Their are people who can be reasonable, on some level, about most everything. I'd say most scientists are fairly reasonable as they can make a living off of their ability to reason.

Everyone in the world is ignorant, no one knows absolutely everything.

I agree with this statement.

Laying it all down on religion, which seems to be the in thing now a days, is itself ignorant because you do not know of why people believe what they do. Just like I am ignorant because I do not know why you believe what you do. See how that works?

I disagree with your point here. I see how it works to you, but it doesn't work for me because your reason for believing isn't based on anything factual. As a reasonable man, I would put forth the supposition that god is only an idea and nothing more. My reasoning is that there is not one solid peace of evidence that points to any other conclusion.

Hmmmmmmmm... I don't think the first sentence is true. People who believe in God are obviously reasonable, I just don't think what they believe in is reasonable.

And many people believe that because there are missing bits to evolution that it isn't a "solid" piece of evidence either. And I said 'many people' so don't go all ape shit on me.

If someone has a reason to believe in God, then to me, they can be reasonable. They have reason. Just because you have no reason to, doesn't make it your decision to call all religious people unreasonable, that just furthers your ignorance because you don't know why they do.

Are you saying that because you are assuming I believe in evolution? I suppose that's reasonable. I like what I've heard, but I am not making assumptions about what I have not. I would have to learn a lot more before I could even begin to understand some of the facts that have been presented.

If someone has a reason to believe in God, then to me, they can be reasonable. They have reason.

If you have a reason, it's not faith. They call it faith because it's believing without reason. People believe without reason because there is no reason. Could I ask what your reason is?

Just because you have no reason to, doesn't make it your decision to call all religious people unreasonable, that just furthers your ignorance because you don't know why they do.

I have reason to believe god does not exist. I will share it if you like. Either way, my statement that "religious people are unreasonable" has already been revised to "It is unreasonable to believe in god".

See what a reasonable guy I am?

This article nicely sums up my general opinions on atheists and theists aka you're both acting exactly alike(like jerks) and both sides has a tendency to call each other out on things they themselves are constantly doing yet fail to see their own personal flaws which happen to be the exact ones they're mocking the other side for having when doing so.

Holy fucking sheepshit, cut the semantics game, lest I retract my previous statements of pride.

That's got to be one of the best things I've read on the Internet in a long, long while.

Who fucking cares...

Deja, is a brilliant mind.

No one could have worded it better.

There... is.. only one, Deja!

He says there is no morality without religion and bases many of his suppositions on that idea. I disagree wholeheartedly.

You treat people the way you would like to be treated in hopes of them returning the favor. Self preservation, if nothing else, requires you treat others in a kind manner. You won't get far if you just fuck everyone over all the time. An empire isn't made on the back of a single man. You must be willing to cooperate with others in order to survive.

There are plenty of other half truths and straw man arguments in there, but that one seemed profoundly ignorant.

Guys, I'm trying to study for finals right now, you simply cannot be starting a religion debate. At least not until Tuesday.

Because you cant just enslave the person instead to get what you want amirite?
