How does one get a job where you can telecommute or something.

Like a transcriptionist or something where you can work at home?

I'm interested in this aswell. Though, more of something along the lines of game testing.

aye here too

7.15 an hour stocking dog food just don't cut it.

Comcast wants me but my morals and the 3 weeks of training that would interfere with school are rather prohibitive.

*works from home and makes his own hours*

If you're me, you get handpicked and hired right out of college. If you aren't, I have no idea. :(

Hmm, at my place there 1 to 3 people that do IT support from home. Basically a team of people take down ALL call information (they don't really perform fixes) and then they pass on all relevant IT queries to these 1 or 3 people. They don't always work from home but they can, so the ones that do call up the people that need help and perform fixes from there.

However there's always 1 in the office in the event that it cannot be fixed remotely. But for this kinda job I guess you gotta find the right place so not all have this kinda job feature.

Bump Rappa what do you do?

A lot of medical billing coders get to work from home. Most of them already have experience in the field, though. You also have to be certified at least for most places to hire you. I've seen some online postings where they'll train you, but I'm not sure what all that entails.

A lot of people who work in technology also get to work from home. Most of those people have lots of experience or at least a degree along with some certifications.

I don't know of any job you could do from home without any experience in the field. Even then, a lot of people who work from home didn't start out that way.

My husband works from home. He's been in his position for a little over 4 years, and worked with the company for 2 years or so before that. He got to start working from home when he turned in his two week notice because we didn't want to live in Atlanta (where the corporate office he was assigned to is) anymore and we were going to move to OKC where his family is (and there is no corporate offices here). Instead of having him quit, they said he could work from home. Lucky fucker. ><

meh I always thought the gamefaqs thing was like a side thing also forgot internet is serious business (srsly!)

99% of work from home, if not your own business, require experience in your job for them to approve letting you work from home.

My dad works from home, but he had to work at his job for 4 years (which he actually worked 7) before they'd consider you. But they just started their @home program about two years ago (he was among the first).

Moral: Unless you have connections, get off your lazy ass and commute!
