Just wanted to get everyones opinions on what they feel is the worst job or the most useless one. I know this will cause some arguements, but as long as we can refrain from going into personal attacks against each other, then everything should be cool.

As of right now, my vote goes towards Dragoon, I honestly don't see their purpose. They're not that great as far as it goes in the damage dealing department; I can think of atleast 4 jobs that can outdamage it, Warrior, Ranger, Dark Knight, Samurai. I think Beastmaster can also beat it, but I've only partied with one once and that was way back. They're not good tanks either, Warrior, Ninja, Paladin have that area. So what do they do? Their dragons aren't that great, thanks to the new patch they can't Pentaspam anymore, I hear at high level their WS are weak compared to most others.

I don't hate people who play Dragoon, but I think Square-Enix messed this job up, it serves no real role other than taking a space when no one is available.

Only other job I can think of is Ranger, I don't hate the job, I just hate people who use it but don't have the gil to back it up. It's terrible when they're using out of date arrows and bows. And then they have no accuracy equipment and miss too damn much. If your gonna play Ranger, you need to know that you can't slack off when it comes to equipment. Most Rangers I PTed with were good though, only had 2 bad experiences.

P.S. On another subject, what the hell is the deal with Greatsword, only job I know that is good with it is Dark Knight, and 90% of them use Scythe from what I see. People say they keep it for WS chains, but honestly, I never understand why people use it, other than to look cool. Plus whenever I PTed with someone using a Greatsword they missed way too much and were hitting for piss poor damage, so maybe I just have bad experiences.

Hopefully I don't start a war here, just want some peoples opinions, so discuss. =P

well.... The only reason I like DRG is because the dude is cute and because the AF is pimpin :D

uummmm...*drools* <-- is lost in thought

I don't really like BST at all because they SUX in parties. They are made to be SOLO. Not in parties. The whole point of the job is to SOLO. I hate seeing level 15-ish BST in parties. They are doing nothing but leeching xp. (unless they fixed the problem in the patch)

Samurai is pretty much a warrior that uses the newest weapons. I personally think warriors are better than samurais.

thats all i got really. umm oh! monks arnt that good till they get all their abilities. dodge boost ect.

The worst job, without a doubt is whtm. I hate whtm. who needs them? all they can do is cure, cure, cure, cure . They dont even do any damage! All they do is say, "Can you guys wait a little, I'm out of MP" Bah, who cares if ur out of mp, my Tp and Hp gauges are almost full. Screw you whitemage, i'm gonna go beat down that IT monster over there, by myself. Go get a sword and help me kill that goblin.

Mauibuilt, it sounds like you've had some bad luck with WHM's in the dunes. ^^

WHM's start out with just cure, but with each level their roles and potential in a party increases. I actually leveled a WHM to 41, and here's what my typical battle was like:

Rest for MP between fights. Haste melee (main tank gets first priority) when there's time to spare.
Regen puller from max range.
Wait for provoke, then Dia II/Slow incoming mob (maybe Silence as well, but coordinate debuffs with RDM)
Regen main tank. Toss a Cure II/III if needed.
Barfira (or other applicable spell) on melee party.
Run back to keep out of AoE status effect range (don't want the WHM to get silenced, do we?)
Recast Haste when available.
Regen on any other injured party member.
Fix any negative statuses on party members with Blindna, Paralyna, Silena, etc.
Melee fusion skillchain coming? Elemental Seal+Banish II for Magic Burst.
Continue cures, refresh buffs and debuffs as needed.
If massive party damage taken at the end of the battle, use either Divine Seal+Curaga or Curaga II, then start resting.

This was done in a party that included both a PLD and a RDM, and we easily took down IT's. In fact, we survived an accidental link between 3 IT's in one fight, with the RDM Sleeping the second mob and a backup tank provoking the third, all while I'm keeping everyone's HP up like no tomorrow. Eventually, damage got so bad I had to throw a Divine Seal+Curaga II, and then *I* wound up tanking in my Holy Breastplate armor (40 DEF) taking hits while the RDM and PLD cured me instead.

So maybe rethink your ideas about WHM's. They keep a party healthy and protected like no other class. Besides, a player who has no love of WHM's will find himself at 0hp quite frequently, and a player that pulls a mob while the WHM's mp is low will also find himself booted out of many a party. ^_~

Heh... forgot to put in my least favorite class:

Advanced Jobs.

I have a reputation in my linshell for clinging to the first 6 basic jobs like no other. I've played this game since last November and have done a whole lot of leveling in that time between two characters, but the only two advanced jobs I've ever unlocked are BRD (to sub with THF til lvl 15) and DRG (only because LS members needed help beating the dragon at the end; I still have yet to change to it or summon my wyvern). While the advanced jobs are okay, I think the basic jobs have so much more to offer, and I honestly pity the people that dump MNK, THF, or WAR right at lvl 30 so a lvl 60+ player can lead them by the hand and do all the dirty work unlocking SAM, NIN, or DRG for them.

I hope to raise my MNK up in levels and then one day solo all of these quests myself. It'll feel much more rewarding for me that way, and by then I'll have the proper funds and skillcaps to truly bring out the potential in those advanced jobs.

I'm not really opposed to any job persay, definately at certain points in the game some jobs are very hard to work with.

For example, I love the thief with all my heart, but lvling it to 31 has been a burning pain in the ass because for the most part people will pass up that class in favour of another tank or healer.

And from all reports, 60+ drgs have been seriously nerfed for the time being. Now I too love my DRG and all, and if by the time I do raise him to such a high level Squeenix has done something to make them a little more viable.

i was joking. lol. heres my REAL opinion on which is the worst job.
The worst jobs are war, rang, monk, wht, blm, rdm, sum, sam, thief, bard, nin, and drag. As long as you don't let any of these crappy jobs into your party, you'll be fine! :D

I feel just like you, honestly, I think all the basic jobs are still great even after 30+. Most people seem to dump WAR and regulate it to a sub, but I still see some higher level Warriors, and I heard they're still very effective at high levels, but thats just from other peoples opinions, dunno how true it really is.

I, like, totally resent that, yo.

Sorry, like I said before, I have no disrespect for the players, I'm not gonna insult you since you pay just like us and are entitled to play whatever class you want to, but I think SE needs to make some changes to improve the Dragoon class. I dunno what they could do to better improve it, but as of right now, I still can't see why you would actually say "Alright, all we need now is a Dragoon and this PT is set!"

what bout sum?

I think that the worst job class is by far is sum. I mean when u invite them you never really know what you are gonna get. I leveled my mnk to 30 then went to drg (despite those who say that the later levels 50+ suck) I have seen only 1 helpfull sum.................1! Most of them -35 have only carbuc. And iftrit .................that's it! They only have to bkup heal or pull which they suck at.

On the drg's suck debate I have faith that square will do the right thing and fix them b4 I hit 30+. I'm only lvl 11 right now and out damageing everyother class I seen by a whole lot!

Drg dont suck...

Ok i know that DRG dont do the most damage. They cant take the most hits. They cant do anything better than anyone else.....BUT!! They can do one thing that no other job can do....Shed hate.

Take a DRK 60+ Now halfway through the fight, you are not gonna be able to turn hate from your main tank so the DRK/THF can use SAnTA and blast the MOB for 1000's of HP. Now picture your DRG. The DRK SAnTA's the DRG, DRG blasts whatever WS he does, and then jumps like he has a purpose....what do you know, you jsut hit for about 3000 damage and the hate is still on the PLD.

This is just one use for a DRG and it seems like a very, very good one. A THF as well could use this method on the Goon. They are a very versatile class and i would take a good DRG over a bad anything any day of the week...

I've used Greatsword my whole time lvling Warrior. It does miss sometimes, I think it depends on your race/job. I'm Elvaan and my War is 40, though i was 41 for the heck of it, i delvled while working on getting my RSE the other night. My main is Drk, lvl 33. As a warrior i tended to miss a bit more, dont miss much w/Drk though.
The whole reason i used GS w/War was to prepare for Drk. I use Scythes as a Drk too and more often since i have to raise that skill to max each lvl. But i switch to GS every now and then when ive maxxed Scythe, its faster, and only does slightly less damage. Plus.. i really want to get the kick butt GS's at the higher lvls of Drk

I like both weapons equally. I mean who wouldnt like carrying a big badass sword and then being able to switch to a wicked looking scythe.

Unfortunately Pupusa I don't see DRG in your list of jobs. So other than watching other ppl use it how can you really make a fair judgment?
Also alot depends on the equiptment you have, I have the best you can get with the exception of Leaping Boots and the Hairpin. I deal damage at least equal to if not more than the DRKs I have pt'd with if you add in my dragons damage. Not to mention I hit a lot more as well. It all depends if you take pride in your job enough to spend the gil, to be as good as you want it to be. But all in all we are just here to have fun right?

This is not accurate, and is a problem with the viewpoint many people take on /THF sub.

Sneak attack and Trick attack are not the same ability.

If someone, say a DRK/THF or SAM/THF, wanted to do TrickAttack-Weaponskills from behind the tank... he may do so anytime he wants and still dump a substantial ammount of hate onto the tank and also aquire none for himself.

THF main job does not have this luxury. He must combine SA and TA to get effective damage. DRK already hits really really hard. DRK/THF doesnt need a partner or someone to switch the hate for him.

Now; on topic; DRG sucks. Okay, sucks is a bad word. They dont suck, they just arnt as good as other jobs. As it has been said, they dont do any one thing better than anyone else. Furthermore, their extra-damage-tool-of-doom, the feared wyvern, causes downtime to the party.

Also, to whomever said that Warrior is better than Samurai at high levels: They arnt even close to similar at high levels, and warrent no comparison. The fufill such different functions in a party that trying to compare them is ridiculous. SAM isnt even considered to be a damage dealer by most (SAM damage really is quite standard.)

Whats not accurate about Faedryth's post about drk/thf and drg?

In fact that exactly how it should work ideally.

If someone, say a DRK/THF or SAM/THF, wanted to do TrickAttack-Weaponskills from behind the tank... he may do so anytime he wants and still dump a substantial ammount of hate onto the tank and also aquire none for himself.

As a thf, I can ta>sharkbite onto the tank and dump a substantial amount of hate.

Because thf is my main job, I get the benefit of a damage modifier so ws like dancing edge and sharkbite would do as much if not more dmg than what a X/thf would do if I were to only use ta/ws.

A X/thf does not get a dmg multiplier if you use ta/ws. You NEED sa to multiply the dmg. So guess what, looks like even a X/thf needs a buddy.

Thats why when it comes to hate management, no other job can compete with thf.

A drk player subs thf so they dont die when they use their ws, a sam subs thf b/c there aren't any thf around.

As far as drg are concerned, they are decent damage dealers. The problems they run into are weak endgame weapon skills (impulse drive and wheeling thrust) as well as a limited equipment range.

High lvl war is ver versatile. They can be used to tank or play damage dealer. So in that respect, they are better than sams, which is primarily used to set up skill chains.

Honestly, how much does TA-Sharkbite do?

Im aware that TA subbed doesnt add a damage multiplier. DRKs and even SAMs dont need one.

TA-Tachi:Yukikaze does 300-400 damage on average. This is a substantial ammount of hate, and I can do this anytime without a partner.

If I was mistaken, and TA-Sharkbite (without sneak) can deal 400ish or more damage (TA-Guilleteen (sp?) is even stronger), then I will withdrawl my comment. As is it, thought, I've never ever ever met a THF willing to use SA and TA seperately. EVER. They report that "TA doesnt do enough damage."
