I've noticed upon perusing your Dynamis scheduling boards that a few of your shells actually schedule joint runs.

I'm just curious how this works out. Most shells have some sort of points system for relic armor lotting, and then there's the currency drops to deal with. How do people generally handle this type of thing in joint runs? The shell I lead is large enough to handle all zones alone, but with the server merge, perhaps joint runs with other shells might be useful in the event that there ends up being simply too many different linkshells to schedule zones without conflicts.

Can anyone enlighten me on the finer points of how other leaders typically handle joint runs?

As a current leader of Limitless Friday's Dynamis runs, the joint runs we do with lolDynamis came together over a couple weeks of hammering out details, and the system is pretty fair. At least, our shells seem to get along with them.

We do typically 2 joint runs a month, with one run being sponsored officially by Limitless and one being sponsored by lolD. Both shells take all of the coins that drop on their respective runs. As for relic, well, Limitless uses a points system and lolD still runs with a Tier system. We way we handled things is that an item that is contested by both shells is lotted on by the top-runners in both shells, i.e. the person spending the most on Samurai relic lots againt the top-tiered Sam relic lotter. Whomever wins the lot gets the piece, obviously, and should another drop in the same run, the loser of the first lot gets it automatically.

Unbid drops go to whomever is top-tier, untiered drops go to whomever is top-bidder. Unbid/untiered drops are freelot to people with the job at 75, then we tick backwards to freelot 70, freelot 60, the finally freelot.

The only exceptions are Shadow Items from DL; Once a member from a shell obtains a Ring or Mantle, the opposite shell is promised the next one. For example, we had a Limitless member win Shadow Ring last DL, so the next one is going to whomever is top of lolD's tier.

Aside from that, we're also rotating on some of the more rare Xarc drops. Since collaborating together we haven't seen a single THF drop, which is highly sought after by both shells, so we're going to track the first pair and rotate it just like the Shadow items. Our shells are splitting THF, PLD, RDM and BLM that way.

Of course, working together also gets some people to take unfair shots at you and your joint-shellmates, but those kind of comments just make you seem like a douche to those watching.

Good luck when you get here, hope any of the ideas here strike your fancy!

That's very interesting how you've managed to integrate two shells with different lotting systems and still find what appears to be a fair balance. I'm quite impressed. I'd like to think a similar thing could be accomplished if there was a smaller dynamis shell that would be interested in doing joint runs with my shell, should that become necessary. My shell uses a rather unwieldy "points system with tiers" (I didn't create the system, I've just been trying to plug the holes in it for the past year plus), but I think even our painful system could be modified to evenly share drops with another shell in a manner similar to what you described. Details would probably depend on exactly how the other shell's system worked.

I thank you for the information.

Well, if you were interested, you could probably contact somedude here on the forums. He is the de-facto leader for lolDynamis and after some recent changings, it sounds like they're no longer going to have a joint-partner. Good group of people, too, can't recommend them enough.

Hope good things come from it, and no problem for the info. Hope it serves you guys well.

Well, my shell only runs one day a week, on Saturdays at 5:00pm eastern. So the only Quetz Dyna shell that has runs at the same time appears to be "Dreams", and I have no idea if they would have any interest in a joint run. I'm actually trying to see if I can get my shell members to be willing to start coming an hour earlier, to avoid conflicts with the "KumoriYochi" and "PerfectAtaraxia" runs at 7:30. Before I push too hard though, it's going to depend on what happens with all the other Midgard shells, as I know that we often end up entering a zone right after one of our server's other shells leave.

But I digress. I suppose we'll just have to wait until we are all on the same server, see which shells try to use the schedule, and work from there. If all shells are willing to work together, adjust schedules and runs to fit into a nice pattern, everything will be good. I've got high hopes, but I'll admit I'm not holding my breath.

Alternately, SE could just figure out how to instance Dynamis, but I think we all know that's not ever gonna happen.

People said the same thing about them raising the level cap.
