JP guy explains

well IMO that is the opinion of just 1 JP player. He makes it sound like there are NO NA players that stay in party together till the end of the "party." That is not true. At any rate, it sounds like he is referring to static parties over pickup parties.

I read most of the first page. I ask JP players to party only when my pt members say I should ask. When I do ask I either get 1) JP Only response 2) {I don't speak any english} 3) no response or 4) the miraculous JP that actually says yes! lol

You know what? Not ALL JP players are good. Rappa and I partied two JPs not that long ago in East Altepa Desert. Rappa was THF and he was pulling, but when he went to pull the DRK (I forget the JPs name) would run off too.. then try and pull things. Lets just say, by the end of the night the drk was pulling and Rappa was just standing there laughing all the way (we live together). And you know what? The JP Players were the ones that broke the party up in the end.

What gets me about JP players in my party is that when they have to leave, they don't give a "heads up" they just say thank you for party and good bye then they're gone... .. .

I have no problem with JPs other than communication. They don't seem to listen to ANY auto-translate. I do have 1 JP player that I can actually call my friend and that is Gais. He's a great guy, speaks no english really XD but hey, he TRIES to understand me and our messed up auto-translate conversations LOL

Anyway, this is just my own opinion. It does SEEM like they are being elitist... but then again, we're super sensitive NA players that take personal offense to a lot of things XD haha

I once read somewhere many JP parties have multiple pullers...though I have no idea whether thats true or not.

And yeah, Ive noticed that. I guess its just the difference in the two communities. Thats something we seem to do and they dont o.o

well... something most of us try to do. But like some of the people were saying in that thread, sometimes emergencies come up and you can't give your party warning. But I am always understanding if they actually have a real emergency, irl mind you, not in game.

nice post, sure helps a lot

I remember I was in a Japanese party, we where getting a good exp/hour

then one of the JP said to the me and the other EU player that someone had to leave and they where going to disband. "Ok" was my reply. I was expecting for the party just to disband, but instead we all went to jeuno and everyone said goodbye and disbanded. JP players do follow this. And remember, EN players are not better than JP players and JP players are not better than EN players. You have your fair share of immature JP's who are like "{English} {party} {Too weak}" as well as EN players going {Japanese} {party} {Too weak}

Interesting, I never thought that Japanese only wanted Japanese parties because of time differences.

Of course, that still doesn't explain why they say "JP Only" when it's midday for NA people and we have several hours to exp...

Very informative. :) I for one have never thought that people who put "JP ONLY" (or "JP ONRY," as I saw once XD) were being elitist or racist or any of that crap. Some people just simply don't want to deal with time zone differences and language barriers. I've also had English PTs where people refused to invite JP people because they didn't want to bother with the language barrier. It does happen, believe it or not.

Personally, I've never seen this. When I've PTed with JP players, they always would make an attempt to tell my PT they were going to have to leave soon.

And you know what I've noticed? I think that, one occasion aside, the ONLY PTs I've been complimented in are JP PTs. In NA PTs, sometimes I'll see a {Good job!} or something when a mob is defeated quickly through a good SC/MB or something, but that's directed at the whole PT.

I remember one particular instance when I was PTing in Western Altepa Desert with a BLM friend of mine, and an NA RNG/NIN. The PT was started by 3 JP players; 2 SMN/WHMs, and a NIN/WAR. At first I didn't even know the RNG was NA, cuz she was so quiet, but I digress. Anyway, we had been fighting for awhile, and things were going awesome. It was one of the best PTs I ever had. Near the end of the PT, the leader, who spoke a little English, informed us that the NIN had asked her to tell us (myself, the BLM, and the RNG) that we were awesome players, and that we played our jobs very well. Then the NIN himself, who hadn't said a word of English so far (I can only assume he didn't know much and/or didn't want to embarass himself), busts out with "COOOOL!! :D" That just gave me warm fuzzies all over. ^^ Like I said, I never seem to get compliments on my job, regardless of how well I play.

And it's not just me; I never see NA players in my PTs complimenting each other on playing their jobs well or anything like that. And I've had my share of good PTs. The only compliment that comes to mind from an NA PT I've been in was once in the Dunes. I was leveling my NIN at the time, around level 18 or 19. I was in a (surprisingly, for the Dunes) decent PT, and while I was out pulling a mob, one of the members commented "with Kyrial tanking, who needs a healer?!" to which everyone pitched in with agreement and comments about how awesome both I and the PT as a whole was. That was great; I just wonder why that has only happened once! I've been in a LOT of good PTs, better than that one, and never once have I seen anyone, let alone myself, complimented on their job.

i know. not many, but a few people that have at one time put {Japanese} {party} {Too weak}

but, ive seen it about the same as {English} {party} {too weak}

once each

That's an interesting read. Honestly I've never had a problem with any JP's but some people I know have.
I can understand where they are comming from with the whole JP only thing, had a JP leader of an all american pt yesterday and it didn't work out too well since the style of play was different.

It points out some good facts but it's still not 100% right...matter-of-factly, I've very rarely seen a JP party "start in Jeuno, and end in Jeuno". Most I've seen go through at least five revolutions, and usually end some time later, whereas there may not even be a member from the original start. I've seen auto-trans "Hello!" in parties, as well as "Help me out!" and "Reward" in many of their shouts. Them saying something followed with wwww may not ALWAYS being them saying an insult or rude comment, but I've seen many times that it has been. And I've also seen a couple shout wars, though admittably nowhere near as many as there are English ones.

So yeh..

Kyrial, that reminds me of my godly JP party in Yu(tab) Jungle. I ran out of food, so I went and bought the ingrediants to make more, while we had downtime...

I was synthing, and I got about 4 HQ's, and one of the members said...

"Steamed Crab. Cool!!!"

Very cute X3

I've pt'd with great US players, great JP players, crap US players, crap JP players, etc. I don't really care. If JP players don't want an English speaking member when I'm seeking, that's their loss. Everyone has their own perogative.

And that thread reminds me of why I hate allakhazam so much, major unexplained karma bomb on that topic's replies.

Hm... you know, I rarely compliment individuals in their playing style...

Pretty much the only time I do is when they really impress me; i.e. a NIN tank that can hold hate off my DRK, or a RDM or WHM that manages to keep everyone Hasted while still being the main healer.

I try to be non-abrasive in any party that I am in, and a JP party is no different. I know that there are things that I can say that don't translate well. For example, in a macro I had <Short time> <Ninja> TP <Ready!>. This is funny to me because I am a Tarutaru, but my JP party-mates started looking for my replacement. Oops. :oops:

I found the read interesting, and will use the facts/opinions to smooth communication between me and my JP friends.

But........ the <Short Time> macro stays. Interestingly, it has tunred into my nickname. LOL

Although different people has its own pros and cos, I have seen a fair share of good and bad people both JP and NA. JP aren't always the godly people who has player skill 100+++ all the time. Some are new to the game, others don't know jack about the job they are playing, sometimes lacks common sence etc etc.

However, I do found out a series of things which make JP > NA stuff. But this is only in gameplay and their style of play. Team work. Yes the lack of teamwork still is visible amoung the NA comunity. Not only in FFXI, but also in other games aswell. I have played iRO, EQ2 recently and it is seen in there aswell. Yes they are games from different countries. (well forget about iRO since it has no community what so ever) Giving EQ2 for example, me being a shaman, having 2 other healers I ended up being the main buffer and healer while others were doing their own melee+nuke+dot mayhem. The group had to wait up for my mp to get full since I was always having trouble keeping up (no canni from eq1 bah!) Such things as common sence, the assistance to others, aka team work were not very often seen. (like the time when people disbanded after wipe, not helping on a corpse run was very inmature)

In FFXI I agree the NA comunity that know each other, has some respect to others, and knowledge of their job to the fullest will assist the party to their fullest abilities. But again, there are few jobs that do what they please ignoring the team work concept and thus leading into a disaster in most cases. These can be more seen towards early stages of the game, aswell as its influence is spreading through the 60s from what I hear.

Of course, the increased amount of these "Unskilled, and selfish people" could have been prevented, or if not learned should they had a chance to start from scratch when the game was launched with no one to help them. Might sounded as the NA comunity doesn't have much teamwork but from what I have seen, yes I see less people working in a team on the earlier levels than the JP people, even during the novice days.
