Y'all may not think this is as funny as I do, cuz you didn't just live it, but I posted this in my LS forum and I just had to let you guys in on it also.

If you've ever had an experience like this, please do tell. And without further ado, here is my story of the evening:

Well then ...

As you all know (cuz I chat about it constantly), my favorite show is Alias. Soooo, I logged off FFXI @ 6:00 PM CST. I proceed to make dinner, then we ate, I was just finishing up cleaning the kitchen including doin' the dishes and we lose power cuz it's storming out big time. Now mind you it's about 7:50 PM CST. My show starts @ 8:00. I'm like oh no you don't!!!! Power comes back on for a sec, then goes out again. Comes back on and there is snow on the TV from the cable goin' out!!!! I'm of course freakin' out. It's now 8:05 and I'm missing the one show I watch per week. Dammit!!!

So I call my old neighbor down the street and ask her if her cable's out. She says no. I'm like ughhhhhhhhhhh. So Jean says she'll tape the show for me so at least I won't miss it totally. They don't show repeats of Alias, so if you miss an episode you're SOL. Anyway, I'm chitchattin' with her and then, of course her hubby has to talk to my hubby for a minute yada yada. Finally get off the phone with them, and call the cable co.

They end up telling me that my whole side of town is out of cable. I'm like cool, cuz if there are more than 4 houses without cable, a Tech has to come out asap.

About 15 minutes later I get a call from "Jessie at Mediacom" . He asks me if he needs to come right away or if it can wait til tomorrow morning. I'm like you need to come now. Hey man, I'm here without cable TV and without my internet access!!!! Take away one but by GOD don't take away both!!!!

So, about another hour rolls by, it's goin' on 9:30 by now and Jessie calls again. Appears that a transformer or power supply from Com Ed is bad and that powers the cable. Hence the Domino Affect. So Jessie (yes Jess and I are now on a first name basis  ) calls me up and asks me if I can call Com Ed and tell them to come out asap cuz he's got this power supply in his van but it's just a temp fix and if he leaves half my town is gonna be outa cable again. So I say sure, no problem and better yet I have 3 way calling so we can both try to talk to em. He says good deal and I proceed to call Com Ed.

Now, if any of you work for Com Ed, I'll apologize now, but they are some the stupidiest asshats I have EVER spoken with. I start out the phone call trying to explain to the Customer Service Rep that it is NOT my electricity that's out, but that my cable is out because of one of their Transformers. She says, Well if you're power's not out, I can't help you cuz I can't "write a ticket" for that. I'm like wtf!!!! So then Jessie tries to explain the situation and all this dumb B**** can say is she can't write a ticket for the situation. Finally she puts us on hold and gets her Supervisor. Now this guy wasn't much better. He's saying something bout without an exact address he can't send someone out tonight. Now mind you, I live in a very small farm town so I'm used to getting the shaft "til the next day", but I missed my damn show and I'm ticked, Jean taping it for me or not!!!!

Meanwhile, we've got Jessie sitting out in the middle of nowhere, pouring down rain and he's holding half the towns cable together with a power supply he happened to have in his work van. OMG, what a mess!!!!

Anyway, he hung up with me, called his boss and about 15 minutes ago I saw a huge Com Ed truck go by and park up at Caseys. About 5 minutes ago now, Jessie called again and told me he's gonna stay there all nite if he has to til Com Ed gets there. I proceeded to tell him about the truck bein' in town and hopefully it'll all work out.

We ended the call with me saying I'm sorry bout the whole mess and if he gets cold to come on over to my house and I'll make him a pot of coffee.

And ....

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I swear to God this is exactly how it happened you guys!!!!

One time I hired a monkey to take notes for me in class!
I would just sit there, my mind a complete blank, while the monkey scribbled on little pieces of paper! At the end of the day the teacher said "Class I want you to write a paper using your notes!" So I wrote "Hello! My name is Bingo! I like to climb on things! Can I have a banana? Eek Eek!"
She gave me an F!
When I told me mom about it she said: "I told you, 'never trust a monkey!'"

Heh don't quite know where that came from, but it seemed appropriate at the time, and humor is good at alleviating situations like the one described above.

 I was so tired last nite when this was all done, I totally forgot I even put it here also.

I'm such a ditz sometimes.

Wonko, you're reciting the writings of "Brak"! THAT is where it's coming from...

I live in a small town too... and our phone lines are REALLY crappy. I'm also on a dail-up connection! So, when it rains... it pours. Power goes out, phones flicker in and out, and even my cell has minimal reception in my house! Poor us. I hate living way out here in the country... oh not to mention we have a septic tank that likes to get flooded when it rains for more than a few hours at a time, meaning NO showers, NO baths, NO -using the toilet-. Otherwise it ends up outside like in "Meet the Parents" with the swamp-made-of-feces in the backyard, or in our case, the side yard.

I <3 Brak ;)

Kat - hilarious!!! That is customer service at it's finest. That's why the people who take those calls get a big $6.00 per hour, because they are geniuses. <3

OMG Rune  !!! I had septic in my house, but thank God I never had that problem.

Tell ya what though. When we first moved here 13 years ago, we still had party lines, no call waiting and to this day we don't have 911. I kid you not!!!!

Ahhhh, the life in the country ...
