This is a long long long read. Please, no "TLDR" shit.

I say i need to put this into writing but i don't even think i know how to. This past week has been...crazy. As of now, i am out of my house. I am currently living in California Berkley with my boyfriend. A few days ago i got into an argument with my mother which put me into a panic attack. The panic attack was not induced by the one argument. Prior to it i had surpressed all the things my mother had said to me. All the, "you are the cause of our marital problems", "Dad is having a hard time accepting you." "I can't sleep at night because of you" "You are going to hell". All of those i had suppressed and never let them out. After my mom told me all these things she would apologize right away and say how sorry she was. She did this many times. Each time i thought it would be different. Let's back track some.

About a month ago i was out in California seeing my old boyfriend at the time. During that time out there i was introduced to his friend, who is also gay. His name was Will. I am not the type to believe in love at first sight. But after the past month i have accapted the fact it is possible. After the first conversation Will and I had, i knew he was someone special. During the 2 days him and i were supposed to be in company with one another, the attraction between the two of us grew larger and larger. I ended up falling for him. Will and I just clicked. I remember always telling my best friend Adam how i wanted to date myself, so i could know what him/I wanted. I have now found that. I have never been in a better relationship than i am right now. Will and I both decided that long distance is not for us, even with us saying this, we contined to talk and talk and talk. Now, when i had told Alex (ex boyfriend) i had feelings he left. We were at Will's apartment for a gay party lol. It was Alex, Will and a kid named Brew who really is not important in this. So, after i had told Alex that i had feelings for Will, he left. That left Will and I with 3 days together. In those 3 days i got to really know him. I found he is someone i wanted to be with. Him and I at this moment are VERY happy and VERY in love.

Now, last Friday i was coming out here to see Will to spend the weekend with him. Well, i got into an argument with my mom. She has it in her mind that i am addicted to people and being in relationships. She thinks this because when i had broken up with my first boyfriend Justin, i went to Alex, then after Alex i went to Will. Now, i waited 2 months before i started to date Alex after Justin. I don't see how that is jumping from one to another. Now, The transitoin from Alex to Will was COMPLETLY different in my opinion. He wasn't a rebound, he was just a better match for me. My mom does not seem to understand this fact.

Prior to the trip to see Will last weekend my doctor had taken me off my SSRI (anti-depressent meds) so i could start a new one. Now, for people who do not know about SSRI withdraw symptoms, they are very serious. My doctor didn't think that dropping me completely off my SSRI would effect me. Well, 4 days after being off the drug, i started having muscle spasms. That is a direct effect of SSRI withdraw. After the spasm had happened i tried frantically to get ahold of my doctor, which i couldn't which scared me REALLY BAD. The one time i needed to talk to my doctor he wasn't there, so that already put me on edge. My mom had called later and she could tell there was something in my voice, right away the first thing she says is, "Jamie, you need to stop jumping, you are using Will, you have an addiction" This put me into a very depressed state. Now, being off an SSRI it is very easy to slip into depressed states, even over time things. When my mom made comments like that i could normally shrug them off, but i couldn't this time. I was able to get past it and surpress it. Mind you it took Xanax (Anti-Anxiety Med) to get me over it.

I got passed that, explained to her the reason i was uneasy on the phone was because of my doctor situation and not being able to get ahold of him. She just said, "No, you are wrong it is about you not liking Will." I wanted to hang up, but i just told her no, your wrong. Then came the day to leave. Will lives about 25 minutes away from the airport. My plane left at 9:40 AM. We left at 8AM which we both thought would be PLENTLY of time to get to the airport. Well, we didn;t know that there was ridiculous traffic getting to the airport. Then, once i got there at 9:15 i got stuck in fucking security. Now, i have been in airports many a times, and never have i had to wait more than 10 minutes in security, i ended up being in the line for 30 minutes. So, after i got out of security i had 5 minutes to run ot my gate, which of course was at the furthest terminal, i am running into people just trying to get to the gate. I get there...and they closed the fucking door WHEN I GOT TO THE GATE. They had given up my seat because i didn't make it in time. This is what my mom had to say after i explained the lenghts i went to try and get on the flight, "You did it on purpose! WHAT THE FUCK JAMIE! Don't give me this shit on how you tried, you wanted to miss the flight!" Awesome thing to come to after missing your flight home right? Well, i had been rebooked for a flight that left 2 hours later so it really wasn't that big of a deal, but according to my mom it was. All and in she blammed me for construction, traffic, and security lines. I got over it, that is how she acts, so yet again, i surpress the emotions of anger and sadness... Now, the flight i was booked on got fucking cancelled due to weather in Baltimore. Now, I was using a reward ticket to see Will, and with United they only have a set amount of Reward seats per flight. Now, I couldn't get on a flight until 7:30PM the next day. One reason being it was a reward ticket and 2, is that TWO flights to Baltimore from ORD got canceled. Now, that is 350 people trying to rebook at get to Baltimore. There was no way in hell i was getting home that day. I was able to confirm a seat on the 7:30 flight. Now, i explained all of this to my mother, the reward ticket, all the rebookings everything. Well, like she LOVES to do, she doesn't tell my dad everything. I get a voicemail from my dad, WHILE AT FUCKING DINNER WITH WILLS Family saying word for word, "Jamie, i don't know what the fuck you are trying to pull but it is fucking rediculous that you couldn;t get home before 11PM. It is obvious that you just didn't try to get something sooner. Enjoy your time with Will, when you come home you are coming home to hell." Now, i called my dad after this and explained to him the situation, then after he heard it all he said, "Oh christ, that makes complete sense". I love how my mom just forgot to tell my dad about the rebookings and the reward ticket restrictions. Now, being off the SSRI this put me into a panic state even after my dad said sorry. My household is already uncomfortable for me to live in with having to deal with two people who do not accept me for who i am. Now, we get home dinner and i just fall apart. All the things my mom said to me, the "Never come homes", the "you are going to hells" They all hit me at once. I could not breath, my heart started to hurt, i couldn't get control of my emotions, my head was racing, everything i thought of would just lead in me killing myself. Will gave me a mg of xanax, which is a lot. Didn't do anything. He decided to take me to the hospital, on the way to the hospital i still was not able to control myself. I ended up passing out in the car ride, and then waking up in the garage of the hospital, and i had no idea how i had gotten there, which then added MORE anxiety to me. I ended up staying in the hospital for four hours until i was stable to go home. Mind you, i did the pass out, wake up thing about 10 times in the hospital.

So, we had gotten home from the hospital around 2 am, and i was just so rained i slept for 12 hours. It was at this time i had a sit down with Will's parents who are amazing. It was decided that it was not safe for me to go home beacuse i could easily slip into another panic attack and maybe when that happens noone will be there to help me. So, I made the decision to stay here with Will. I called my dad, but sadly he didn't answer so i had to deal with my mom and said, "Mom, I am not coming home tonight. Last night i spent 4 hours in the hospital because of a panic attack and i do not feel safe coming home" She completly lost it and said if i was not home it was over, she was done with me. She started yelling so i took the advice of my doctors and hung up. I told her to call me when she was going to talk calmly. I don't think she understood that i couldn't come home to that enviorment. That happened on Tuesday, and i have not talked to my parents since then, nor have they tried to call me.

As of right now, i am safe. I am with Will and his family and they are so amazing. They have basically accepted me as a son. Now, Will is leaving on saturday to head back to school, he is taking summer classes. I have decided to go with him. His parents made a deal with me. They said if i pay for food that they will take care of everything else. Once out there i plan to get a job, which at Berkley around this time shouldn't be to hard. I also have 1k saved in the bank that only i can touch. So i am pretty much set as for that.

So here i am, 19 living with my boyfriend and just getting by. I am still very on edge and need medical help from head doctors. Problem there is...how can i pay for that help? It was decided that i need to contact my dad. Here is what i would like to say;
"Dear Dad,
I am not out here running away from my problems, i am here to face them head on, i have a mental illness that i need to take care of. I do not feel as if i can do that back in maryland. As of right now i am in a enviorment where i feel safe. I am getting a job out here and Wills parents are allowing me to stay with Will, rent free. The only think i need to do it pay for food, and as you know i don't eat much anyway so that isn't a huge problem. Now, I would like nothing more than to be able to come home. I love where we live, I love you and i love Mom, i love our house, it is my home. This is me now asking for you help to get me home. I need medical help, and i would like to seek it out. The only thing i am asking for is your support to get me the help i need, nothing else."

I have not sent this to him, it isn't even close to being done. So, all in all the point of this thread is to help me write an email to my dad asking for support in finding a doctor. Also, just to get peoples opinions on the situation. I know it is a lot and it may be unorganized and shit but sorry. I tried my best, so please bare with me on it. All reponses are welcome.

Please just help me guys.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your parents again. Only hearing one side of the story and not really knowing your parents makes it hard to provide really good advice but I'll try.

Your dad seems pretty leveled headed once he gets all of the information. Your mom well I think she's the one that really needs help. Some people can't handle raising a kid and having them think differently than they do. It is unfortunate that she isn't trying to be more understanding especially since you have been on antidepressants recently. It sounds to me that Will's parents are definitely providing a better environment for you. It's probably too early to really tell if you and Will will last but it sounds like he has a solid foundation of support from his parents so that should help to make him a strong and stable person. This makes me believe that you and his relationship is serious. Your mom doesn't want to see it that way so she won't. There's not really anything that you can do to change that. She's the only one who can change her mind. Also, are you the youngest of your siblings? Your mom might have "empty nest" syndrome and doesn't want anyone to take you away from her.

If you can, get a written statement from your doctor that says that at this moment it would be best for you to not be in the environment that your mother provides you. I'm really not sure if they do this but it would help your dad see what is happening to you. I like how you wrote that you love your parents and that you want them to help you to come home. It is good to let them know that.

I really don't have great advice. I don't have experience in these types of situations but I hope that my words help some. Just remember that no matter how hard it gets, someone loves you. Whether it's Will, your sisters, or your parents, there's always someone thinking about you.

if this where me in your situation i wouldn't try to go back to that environment, even with the medical help you require it's still a very high stress place to be, and i dk about anyone else but if my parents, the people who are supposed to love me even if i am a serial killer, don't accept me for who i am then i would be totally lost, i respect how you are able to cope with that situation cause if it where me, i don't know how i could live like that

honestly if being there and with will makes you happy i say stay there, make a new life for yourself, it sounds to me that your parents like to fly off the handle at any given moment and honestly you dont need that shit in your life, it's uneeded stress and it's only going to make things worse for you, drama and bullshit and all that tension is bad energy and it wears down on you, your 19 bro, you can legally make your own decisions about your life.

it's a giant step, whichever way you go decides what kind of step it is, best of luck to you <3

Well, my parents decided to drain my bank account. I had put 600 dollars into it so i oculd buy food with. I log into Bank of America and See it was all withdrawn to my moms account. So i was forced to come home because if i didn't my dad said he would take me off the insurance. They don't understand that dragging me from a Safe enviorment to a high stress one is not smart. They have brought me home kicking and screaming.

I still have a ticket to California if shit gets fucked up.

FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

Your mom is a horrible person. Your dad saying he'd take you off insurance sounds like it was your mother being a ventriloquist, since that doesn't go with the rest of the story.

And yes, my mom influences my dad a lot of the time. Normally he thinks for himself...normally.

My mom is too busy popping Pain Killers to think straight.

Well, Kelyon, I've got some tl;dr coming back atcha, my friend...

Regarding mom...

She has it in her mind that i am addicted to people and being in relationships.

Let's say your mother is right. If you are addicted to people and/or relationships, why would that be? The most logical answer is that you are not getting what you need - mentally and emotionally - from the existing relationships you have. Things like unconditional love, support, trust, respect, approval, etc. Humans are social creatures, and many need things like what I listed to function and survive. It is only natural for one to seek those things out.
Given your parents' commentary, I can see where it would be damaging to your psyche. And removing yourself from that situation may be beneficial. It may also be beneficial for you to seek therapy together. There aren't any perfect families or even perfect people, and there is nothing wrong with saying you need help to work together to become a positive, loving, supportive family. What do you think your mother's reaction would be if you were to ask her to seek help with you?

Regarding you...

Please just help me guys.

Recognizing things need to change is definately a good thing. The hard part is figuring out exactly what needs to change. Harder still is actually doing what is necessary to make the changes.
If you have already determined the root cause of the issue, what are your plans to change it? It sounds like you've decided the best choice would be for you to remove yourself from your current environment. Maybe it will be. Please don't just run from the current situation you're in without thinking about it long and hard. The grass is not always greener on the other side. There are a lot of things that must be considered before you make any big move. And you have some special needs in the way of healthcare that should rightly be a huge priority.
I don't believe that - currently - your parents will support your decision to move out on your own/with Will. Even if they did, unless you have student status or a legal disability, most insurance companies will not let them carry you on their insurance if you are not living with them, so that is something you will need to plan for. State assistance programs may help a little, but I don't think you'd qualify right away if you just moved - I'm not sure, but I think there are some residency requirements. If you were to get a job with a good benefits package, most of those benefits don't kick in until you've been there for at least 90 days, and I think that is too long for you to go without insurance for your visits and perscriptions, especially if you aren't currently on a regular treatment program.

Just abandoning the situation you are in will not really solve anything; that is just pretending the problems don't exist. The issues your family has will not get better if you up and leave. It takes effort and time for things to work out. I know you don't feel like you can give much more, but it shouldn't be just you giving and everyone else taking. If they are willing to work with you to make things better, they stand a chance of getting better.
The other side of it is they may not be willing to work with you. Sometimes you have to move on with issues unresolved and just close the door on that part of your life. And that is a very hard decision. You are the only person who can make it because it is about your personal boundaries and standards. If you think it is likely this will be the road you wind up taking - maybe not now, but sometime - then you should start preparing (not planning, just preparing) for "just in case" so you aren't out of the streets with no job, money, or hope.
You are at a transitional place in your life, and it is hard. I know that you have it in you to come out on the other side a strong, secure, and happy person. Just remember that there is wet on my foot, and, if you need to chat, I'm happy to chat. Or just listen. Either way.

Big, warm fuzzies to you...

Was the account a joint account that you set up with your parents, or was it a private account?

I know this is going to sound a little strange. But, you need to have an invervention.

With your parents.

There are a lot of psychiatrists that will speak to parents and sit as a mediator while you speak to them, a lot of times, making them shut the hell up so they can listen to what you have to say and make sure they understand it so you can really be heard.

High stress environments like that (as I unfortunately can identify with) are really horrible places to have an anxiety/depressive disorder. You need to make them understand and you need to somehow make your mother realize that this animosity is because she can't deal with who you are. Obviously her opinion that this 'behavior' is wrong and she needs to realize that she didn't raise a serial killer, a monster. She raised a good son who is a good person and he just so happens to be gay. She needs to realize that this behavior from her and her reaction to damn near anything you do, is creating and enabling your anxiety/depression problems.

Kel, you need to start seperating yourself from them. Especially financially. Get your name off of that account and get your own. Get your money back and put it away, let it build a little interest and then get the hell out of Dodge. I'm glad that your boyfriends parents are so accepting of you and they're wonderful people like that. It's about fucking time you've had some people that loved you and accepted you for who you are. But, the responsible thing (just opinion of course) would be to get up about $2k and move out there, getting a job as quickly as possible and get a place of your own. You should be on your own, supporting yourself, not depending on another person for shelter and support. This time is about you now, not about anyone else. That's at least, how I would do it (am doing it, lol).

What ever you do, I wish you best of luck and peace of mind. We're always here to listen.

I know that i need help, hence why i was worrying about insurance issues. The thing is, my mom wont seek help. In her mind she is perfect and always right and everyone else just lives in the pit of wrong. She did some thing over 15 years ago and she thinks she is fixed.

My moms idea about being a good parent to me was dumping money into my account. I am not saying my mom isn't a good mom. Before i told her i was gay she was fucking awesome. She gave me A LOT OF LOVE, like pure love. She would always take my side in situations, she would stand in my corner...but there is two sides to her kindness. If she stands in your corner, she demands that you stand in hers even if you do not agree. I remember a argument between her and my dad, i agreed with my dad and i told her that. She said, "So what, your gonna be with him and not me after all the times i stood up for you!" She is trying to force my opinions to her views.

I personally know that i need help. I have known since like 7th grade. I have manic depression, Anxiety, OCD and some other things that are not as important but i still need to take medication for like insomnia. I know what caused me to go into a panic attack, it was not being able to handle what my mother says to me. I personally needed to rewrite/draw my mental roadmap. My mom has programmed me in such a fucked up way that it needs to change.

Also, i don't feel like i am running from my problems. I am running at them head on. The first thing i needed to do was get stable enough to even enter my house. Which, at the moment, i am not. I plan to take my Ativan before i even step into the house. Even thinking about going into it makes me nervous. I have this problem where i can't control how my brains process shit. I think of what -could- happen, then i think what will happen because that happened, then after that happened what happens. It just keeps going and going non stop.

Means a lot Linj, thanks for the amazing advice.

Reply to other people later, i need a shower. Just want to thank everyone for their replies and trust me i read them all. Yours is next Morwenpants.

To the person who asked about my bank account. It is a joint account, with my mother...I am setting up a private account when the banks open.

Response to my post

So your mom won't admit she needs help. Maybe you can still get her to go by saying it would help you. Don't tell her she's doing anything wrong, but see if you can't position it as a benefit to you for her to just come with you. Maybe she'll pick up on things and be more open minded if she thinks it isn't about her.

The reason i didn't come home in the first place was because of the way she was acting. So for her to understand what can i say to her without saying she is doing something wrong. She would always tell me how i am tearing the family apart and how my dad does not accept me and how i am the cause for their marriage problems.

Like i said before, in my moms mind, she is right everyone else is wrong.

As hard as it is to actually do, sometimes you need to do what's best for you and isolate yourself from people who harm you emotionally. The harsh reality is that your mother, for her own personal hangups and reasons, is not ready to treat you with love and respect. Those are her issues and her problems that she has to sort out. You can't force her to see reason any more than she can force you to be straight.

What is happening here is that your parents are trying to manipulate you because they feel they know what is best for you. They're doing what they are doing out of love, but they are not realizing that their behavior is not loving and not healthy for you. Pure love doesn't stop when someone does something that makes you unhappy, or something you don't agree with. Love is something you feel for someone regardless of who they are or what they do. What your parents are doing is wrong and regardless of whether they want to hear it or not, they need to understand that.

My advice to you would be to take a step back and be selfish for a moment. You can't fix your own problems if you are trying to fix everyone else's. Fix you first. You need to make yourself priority one for your well-being, your health, your sanity. There is nothing wrong with saying "this is how things are now, and until you can give me the love and respect of allowing me to live my own life as I see fit, I need to distance myself from you." Make it clear that you love them and that you always will but set boundaries for yourself and do not allow them to be crossed. I think what Linjah said is great advice; you should make one more attempt at trying to get your mother to come along with you to your therapist. If she refuses, or if she tries to make it about her again, I would tell her you love her and always will and then tell her that you need some space from her until she can respect your choices as an adult. You need to be around supportive people who will accept you exactly as you are in order to take care of yourself. If your parents aren't going to be those people for you, then you need to be with people who will.

This is exactly what i am trying to do at the moment. I even told my dad that. I told him before any "family healing" (what he calls it) can happen. I need to get mentally stable personally so i can handle the things that my mother says to me. I am out to fix myself at the moment.

To the person who asked about my bank account. It is a joint account, with my mother...I am setting up a private account when the banks open.

Ah, I see, cause I was going to say if it was your own personal bank account that she drained you could nail her for theft, but I digress.

Update: Been home almost a week now and it kinda sucks. My parents wanted me to come home so badly, yet they are treating me like a prisioner. They took my car from me, i have no money and they are trying to tell me i cant see Will anymore, which wont happen anyway. just annoying. We start Family Therapy next week...should be interesting. Meh, i guess i am trying to go into it with an open mind.

Wow, the cun.t bitch whore does it again.

I wanted to visit Will on the 24th-26th for his birthday, my mom didnt say no but she is bring up bullshit excuses. She told me i was just manipulating my reasons for not coming home while in chicago. Manipulating? HOw the fuck do i manipulate myself into the hospital for 4 hours? She is really testing my last nerve, i am on the verge of moving out in a serious way. I have well over 10 grand in stocks and bonds in the bank that i can access i am sure, also, when i am old enough, i have 4 grand left to me from my now dead grandmother, god i miss her so much. overwhelming.
