So tonight I was helping some of my LS mates get Rank 5. I had a lvl 60 NIN friend lined up to help if things get sticky, but for the most part it was overkill, as we were all level 40+. Our plan was to get the items in Beadeaux, and hit Castle Oztroja tonight while we had help, since those are the 2 hardest parts.
Beadeaux was a breeze- in fact, we even teamed up with another group there to get items, because they only had 1 person who needed the drops. Everyone was happy.
When we finish Beadeaux, the BRD in my link tells me (I'm leader of the expedition, mostly because of my superior sense of direction and following map skills, heh) that he's got someone who asked to join for Oztroja. Naturally, I ask what job/level the guy is. 30 WAR/NIN. My first answer, right off the bat, is NO. No way. Too low, too much of a liability. We were already an hour behind schedule as it was, hubby had to log in an hour, I didn't want to babysit this guy with sneak/invis the whole way.
Well, the BRD tells the guy this, and he offers to get his own sneak oil, and he can Tonko himself. Not wanting to be one to punish people who at least make an effort, I relent. Then the aggravation starts.
The 30 WAR has ANOTHER friend who wants to come- oh, but he's a WHM, he can handle himself. Well, the WHM joins us- he's a 31 WHM with NO EQUIPMENT. Not a damn thing. Apparently his main job is RNG, 26, he just swapped to WHM so he could get in under my rules. GRR.
We get to Oztroja, and before we can even get to the very first door, the one with the trapdoor, the WHM gets aggro, and we have to backtrack a good distance back to clean up the mess. His excuse? "You're moving too fast, you need to wait for us to recast". I tell them they should just move somewhere safe, recast, and follow us on the map. Guess what? THEY DON'T HAVE THE MAP. What a shock. -_-
At this point, I'm super-pissed. It's already past the time my husband neede to be in bed for work tomorrow, and these guys are just dead weight. So, I tell them straight up- we're on a time limit here. I'm not going to hold your hand, it was your responsibility to be prepared for the mission, not mine. If you can't keep up, I'm sorry, but I'm not going back to get you, we just don't have time for that.
The naked WHM isn't happy with this ultimatum, basically says it's BS, and tells us he's death warping back to Jeuno. Hubby was nice, and gave him a Warp 2 home, heh. The WAR/NIN decided to stick it out, and I'll give him props, he did a good job of keeping up. I think he did get aggro a time or two, but everyone in our little group did at least once (even me, stupid bat was following me as sneak was wearing off).
So in the end, I'm happy that I didn't let another naked leech suck a difficult mission off of me. For a moment, I almost felt bad that I was hard on him- but that's long since gone. I just don't get it- people would never come to an XP party, or a BCNM, or something along those lines with crap or no gear, or a job that wasn't up to snuff, or lacking the tools they need to complete the task at hand (or at least they shouldn't). Yet when you hold them up to even the tiniest standard on a mission, suddenly you're a bitch. Well, guess what- this bitch EARNED her airship pass, which is more than you'll ever say.
