How come no shells out there seem to have some sortof point system like God LSes do? Seems kinda stupid that whomever is most dedicated in Sky can get an item they really want but someone in Dynamis may have perfect attendance and lose lot to someone who attends less than 50% of the runs..

I'd prefer no one turns this into a flame or something, just wondering why Dyn has different rules...cause really, after 0/40 with only 4 WHM drops, I'm kinda sick of seeing some person who shows up less than land gods pop, prancing in and getting relic..

And yes, I know LS leaders set the rules and all that crap...basically meant "why isn't it a common rule?". Shell newbs never get Suzaku or Seiryu gear, don't see why Dyn newbs should get some kindof freebie when others most likely have been working for the same crap much, much longer (in the same shell)..

I think because of the numbers involved in Dynamis, a points-based system would be harder to enforce; it would also be difficult to kick someone who said "screw the rules, I'm lotting anyway" unless you do the glass-in-bazaar thing (which I'd only just heard of in the Flameboard SAM AF stealing thread the other day).

I know Perfect has their tier-based system for Northlands, and most shells have an attendance-to-lot requirement, which helps weed out some of the opportunists.

PinCKs has a system based mostly around attendance. As of now we ask for 3 hours a week from our members (6 sometime in the near future when we pick up a weds night run) and expect that as a member of the shell, you put in your time for us and we will take the time to reward you for your efforts.

If you're skipping out w/o good reason you get three strikes before we replace you. First offense- no lot next run. Second- no lot for 2 consecutive runs. Third offense- we fill your spot on the roster with a more dedicated team player. Members must attend 3 consecutive runs without a strike to be allowed to lot Northlands.

As Solitia pointed out, a point system in this area would be a pain to keep, though it would probably work just as effectively as sky points in regards to af2. The only problem I'd see is people looking at the point differences and deciding they're so far out of contention for their drop, they just won't bother showing for that city. In dynamis, its a team effort- everyone is an essential part of the victory.

IMO the whole tier thing can make some people feel less important or less a part of the team, so we try to keep it attendance based. Its really just a matter of opinion. Some shells just have different mentalities about them and different systems work better for different groups.

In PinCKs, people who show up consistantly will get their goodies (and have a fun time doing it :D), while people who skip without valid reasons are pretty much SoL for lotting that next run (or 2 runs with 2nd strike) they attend. Three strikes and you're out kinda deal. Keeps it fair to those who are working hard for our progression.

Hope this is somewhat related to what you were looking for as an answer :P

I think more than just trying to keep track of everyone's points, it's that points wouldn't mean all that much. In a lot of sky linkshells, you get points for farming the pop items as well as fighting the gods, and some people can't/don't attend the farming so that's where the real difference in points would come from. With dynamis though, it would probably be 1 point per run otherwise the point totals would be needlessly high, regardless there wouldn't be much of a difference in people's point totals, so the items would still go to open lot to the people with the same number of points.

Some linkshells also have rules preventing you from lotting before you've gone on X number of runs, and that if you don't maintain good attendance you won't be able to lot until it's back up. A point system would allow people like yourself who have gone for a long time without getting anything to have priority, but at the same time it would almost guarantee that newer members wouldn't get anything for a long time, since the older members would have more points to spend.

A lot of Dynamis Shells do run on a points system, but I"m not aware of any NA Shells on Quetz that do. I think a big issue is that it would be really difficult to handle any type of points auction while your shell is desperately trying to control a big pull. Unlike normal NMs the action doesn't stop while you work out who gets what loot.

One of my Dynamis Shells does have a points system though, and a farily involved one as well. I kinda like the idea as is seems a lot less likely that you can attend for a year, and still be outlotted by a new member fitting out their 3rd or 4th job...

You also have to think about the diffent in the amount of people and the time you spend. In sky it is much easier to do; the fact that you can pop x amount of gods <depending on how many drop sets you have> so you would have x amount of chances of getting a item. In dynamis though you can go weeks or even months without seeing your job armor, and can only go twice a week. Plus it is harder to harder to keep people doing dynamis then it would be for gods because dynamis is more time consuming then most time with gods. Like said before there is normally a certain amount of runs you have to go before you can start lotting in my old shell it was 2 in mnew shell it is 3. Then after they do that they keep track how many dynamis you have been to if you miss alot then you have to start over and wait the 2-3 dynamis to lot agian. The reason the point system is there for gods is so that people have the obsentive to farm. Plus if your paying anywhere between 12-20k to get into dynamis <or not loting single coins> I think that entitle you to get a chance for something.
