Movie Kate Backinsale signs on for Underworld 4!

Fierce bitch Kate Beckinsale has signed on for a fourth underworld.

I very much enjoyed the first two and thought the third kinda sucked. Kate's the star of this franchise, and without her it seemed kinda lame.

The next underworld will continue where Selene/Michael left off.

Beckinsale seems to get type casted in these types of roles since the success of the underworld films. Previous interviews suggest she was very hesitant to dawn the leather-clad body suit again unless they "came up with an amazing script".

I guess Screen gems hired a good writer!

The Underworld movie franchise isn’t over yet.

Just last Thursday, the producers announced in a press release that there will be a fourth movie, and not only that. The release also confirmed that Kate Beckinsale is returning as the lead character Selene, which this time now has a daughter.

There are still no news about Underworld 4’s story and its full cast. The filmmakers haven’t even named a director for the film.

According to Cinema Blend, only the movie’s script, written by John Hlavin (The Shield) with revisions by J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling, Babylon 5, Ninja Assassin), is ready at this time, and the producers are seeking an actress who will play as Selene’s daughter. Screen Rant also reports that the continuing battle between vampires and werewolves will be shot in 3D.

Filming will start in March 2011 in Vancouver, and Underworld 4 is expected to be released in January 2012. (Other source: Star Life Talk and Gossip)

I love me some Underworld, but I'd rather see more Selene and less Michael Corvin. If I recall correctly, there is still one Vampire overlord in stasis, right?


Also, Kate Beckinsale is hot, but would be way hotter if she'd lay off the tanning solution and cigarettes.

I'm not sure. I just hope it's as good as evolution. Strangely enough, it received the worst reviews of all three but was the most successful.

I enjoy Kate in action roles more than her dramatic stuff. She doesn't come off as a very good dramatic actress and thats ok. Angelina doesn't either.

Serendipity was good. Pearl habor was good but she was the wrong actress for that role. Brokendown Palace and Laura Canyon were ok too.

I really enjoyed her work in Van Helsing, Whiteout and the underworld films. I prefer kate in these types of roles than angelina. They both seem type casted these days though.

What the hell is the story going to be? I'm fairly sure all the elders were dead. I mean, that woman (Amelia) was one who was killed by Lycans in the first movie. Viktor died at the end of the first one and Markus died in the second... Lucian is dead too as is William. Alexander Corvinus is dead too... All the "big" players to our knowledge are gone. Though I guess there are still vampires left and werewolves and there's going to be chaos without the Elders to control the covens and Lucian to control the Lycans so I guess there could be an interesting feuding or something between themselves and certain people for power, but I don't trust Hollywood to create anything interesting or original :|

I half assed watched the first one. I proably should go back and rewatch it and give it more of a chance.

I could never get into the first movie tbh. The characters of the leading rolls lacked substance and remained detached from the story during the entire film. (Which also was pretty weak) Despite the "intriguing" premise, the filmmakers have chosen to focus their efforts on gory bullet filled action rather than characterizations and coherent storytelling.

I feel that the series has declined over the years, big time. However, any chance to see Kate in tight, black leather outfits is a good thing. That woman is sexy.
