KI Thread On 1000 needles a go go!

im sorry but does anyone see that mabye 5hours of playing FFXI a day Everyday seems a bit much?

i mean yeah he must love tha game but damn.. as a guy with ADD(attention defficte Disorder) i would shot myself in the face socialy and economicly if i played 35 hours a week... dear god thats almost like a full time job.. but your not getting payed for it and it has no tangible real world signifigance.

Hell ill pay for a couple hours a day mabye even 5-6 hours on a day off but doing that consistantly seems a bit much...

Props to that guy for not having a RL social life..

The day he posted, ToAU had been out 10 days, and at 5k/h for 5h is 25k per day, which would only total 250k (level 62 = 410k). And I don't think his starting levels were able to grab 5k/h, at least not in a static or without a PL the whole ways through (and no one can brag about being PLed their entire career, but that's off topic)

And if that xp/h is even accurate, he'd hafto have averaged 5k/h (with XP ring thrown in each day) for 8h per day at the very least...and considering how flooded virtually every possible XP zone is, I somehow doubt he managed to get that good of xp til he got out of the flooded low-level XP zones as well (thinking L30+)

I think overall, probably closer to 10-12h per day, every day. =P

*edit* Read furhter into the KI topic, someone beat me to this.
Not true... my starting static got 7k exp an hour all through Valkurm, Qufim and Yuhtunga. Sadly, we had to break up after that (3 days... lol) because of new schedules XD

And there will be NO SUCH THING as BLU cannons spamming 1000 needles for f ast exp. Its 12 sec cast, costs 350 MP, and have like a 56 sec recast time. So yeah, no such thing as 1000 needles cannon party

Theres a Cor on Valefor, level 72... So yeah.

lol, the frickin AF for this job hasnt even come out yet. I really hope SE adds stuff into the game for the new jobs that cant be gotten by ppl who are past lvl 60.

Powergaming doesnt even piss me off....it just makes me feel bad for those folks that think game > RL. The first person to get BLU to 75 will be awarded the "You are the worst BLU ever and have no life Award".

Take it easy, and have fun enjoying the job at a nice simple pace. I just cant wait for the "new job" bandwagon to be over.

Ok, this might be common knowlage, or I am completely wrong. I thought that the breakdown was like this:

Intelligence affects Spell Casting Ability/Effect.
Mind affects Spell Resistance.
Accuracy Applies to everything (magic/weapon) etc.

I think that whats their face (too lazy to look) is right and that it is an "All or Nothing" spell. You either deal the 1000 or you dont.

Besides, if anyone played FFVIII, Jumbo Cactuar can cast 10,000 needles, but it either hits you for 10,000 or nothing at all.

what about all the time it takes to learn all these spells?

I think Mishaela is pretty close to the time on this one. I can't imagine playing this game that much. Maybe more than 1 person played on that character?

say hello to blue mage cannons once that spell gets around.....

Blue Mage has extremely limited MP. The spell costs 350 MP to cast as Uzor said. On top of the other things Uzor said, they get no native Clear Mind traits. Personal Refresh is restricted to Vermillion and Yijit. From what I hear, thier drain/aspir type moves are a little sub par.

So no. Don't say hello to Blue Mage cannons. They'd be much better off spamming other damaging moves.

1000 Needles seems like an emergency thing, used in conjunction with Azura Lore.

I agree with there probably not being any Blu cannon parties anytime soon but blu do get clear mind when equipping spells

Clear Mind: Poison Breath + Soporic

And? It's not native, you have to sacrifice spell slots and points for it.

Took me 1 try to learn all spells past 12 except for one, Sound Blast, that took me 10 tries. Its not really that hard.

No, INT isn't the only stat that effects ability/effect, MND does too. And in BLU case, AGI/DEX/STR etc.

it'll still happen.

And they'll get hit with the same nerf bat they're getting ready to swing at BLM right now.

Want proof it won't? A Mamool Ja Mimicker missed me with it. It was EM. I didn't even have Dodge up. A- Magic skill and Sword skill vs. B+ evasion.

Yeah, it's accuracy is horrible. Vengeful tirades on something that's not feasibly possible are dumb.

Also as stated when talking to the OP, if it's magic based, it's going to rely on MND and INT a hell of a lot more than the accuracy, STR, and attack gear he has loaded up on. Difference with BLU spells among other spells is that when a magic gets "resisted", it either does minimal damage or whiffs completely. You can't exactly reduce 1000 Needles damage...it either whiffs or does 1000.

Now let's think about it. Let's take a Tarutaru BLM and this Galka BLU at have them both cast a low accuracy spell. i.e. Galka uses 1000 Needles, and Tarutaru uses Fire III. Neither has any elemental weakness or benefit against a Torama. Now what's going to happen more than likely? The Galka will have a very good chance of being resisted due to the natural low MND and INT, while the Taru may get mildly resisted if at all. Now if the Galka was using, say, Death Scissors, this would be a different story, as his gear is melee based a lot more than magic based. I just think it's silly for him to be wondering why he's missing a lot when the answer seems pretty clear to me...

It's highly likely that 1000 needles is physical (jelly ring, etc. reduces damage).. and the EN client has been wrong on multiple occasions.

If it is physical, there is a very clear reason why he is missing, he does not have sushi applied and toramas have extremely high evasion for their level.

But was that during the massive new-job rush, when virtually 200 people were in Dunes? Somehow I don't think so. =P

And I really feel like I'm talking to a wall. TP seemingly effects all BLU spells, what do you think it effects on 1k needles? Damage?

Maybe it sucks afterall, or maybe SE knew people would probably obsess over the spell and made it's acc VERY TP-based, to the point where it's crap unless 200% or maybe ven 300%.

Hmmm that seems to happen with me all the time :D :/

But yea, that's what I was thinking Ish... it would and could be very TP based, which would give extreme incentive to give a melee SJ... /NIN (OH NOEZ I SAID TEH NINJAR SUB JOB... get the fuck over subbing NIN it might be quite helpfull) Who knows 100% tho? no one yet, but it's definately something to test out, and try to see if it can be imp'd by certrain SJ's and different stats

to be honest im happy it no 100% or even 50% because if it was i'd have to rais the red flag of overpowerness.

There is really a difference between overpowered and useless.

A spell with potential power but costs roughly 30-50% of your MP pool and hits 1/4 is useless no matter how you paint the picture, especially contrasting to BLM at 75. The person in these screenshots 1) had no food on, 2) was fighting toramas 3) did not show magic burst attempts with said spell. Since it is light based, a REALLY easy test would be just to MB it, no? Certain other spells are only macc enhanced by MB. If you wanted to test to see if it was magic damage or not, that would be the easiest way.

Bottomline is not enough testing has been done, but knowing SE it will probably blow ass anyhow. I'll let you guys know in a few days.
