Kicking the gimp-equipped: am I an asshole?

Icewolf's THF is a great invite, I kid you not. Last part of the pt in which i parsed, he was able to keep up w/ the Monk.

Granted this was a lvl 70 party i believe. But i'd invite him again!

Still not trying hard enough. Thought you wanted to stay out of the rest of the thread. You sure fail something hard.

Just eat sushi and you should be good enough, though I'd recommend an extra +10 ACC or something; except for DRK go all out ACC! I despise missing on that facker... missing 2 times per battle is too much for me on that guy.

I'd prefer Rajas a very small % increase in Crit and Dmg over another ACC ring for an increase from 93% to 95%in ACC. Though this is just my opinion on a whim, I don't really pay attention to it nor do I go parsing it and calculating average overall damage.

I Do not like people who cap on others when their gear isn't very good as well ^^.

By your own authority, I'm calling you gimp, and my reasoning is you're too dumb to realize what this thread is about, and the difference between average and gimp.

It seems to me you've learned the word gimp from certain people with elitist attitudes, I can only call people gimp if I have the best gear? What kind of rule is that, it's like saying the middle class can't call the homeless poor.

Gimps will always be admitted into LSs. Antdog is no different from Angeloxi, Peregrine, Dienowkthx, Ceram, Tonytron etc. People look for their LSs to pimp them out with R/E, and don't put the time and effort to get the buyable gear themselves.

Not really sure how you can justify saying that I put no time and effort to get the buyable gear myself. I am the first one to admit that I do not have the greatest of gear compared to other MNK that have been playing much longer than I have. But you also don't know me. So you wouldn't know that all I have been doing is farming to get the buyable gear that I need/am expected to have. I have been on FFXI less than a year. I can't be expected to have the best of the best.

You had time to whore to 75, you could have did what you had to do to achieve gear when it was needed. Even a month or two after partying with you, I saw your gear and it was exactly the same. Not what I would call trying.

You don't have to be 75 to make gil in this game. I stopped several times through the 40-60 range to attain the gear I wanted/needed to be the best DRK people had partied with. You just took a job everyone will invite anyway with shit gear cause everyone would let you.

I wonder if you've upgraded your coral earrings and ruby rings yet?

Meeze, just out of curiosty, but when did you start playing FFXI?

Meeze, just out of curiosty, but when did you start playing FFXI?

I know where you are going with this line of questioning. Before I hit 75, I had 100 alchemy, I had HQ hauby and then berk starting when DRK was level 64. I had Mermans earring 2 levls before I needed it. I had Assault earring at 58. I had 2 snipers at 55 and 2 spike earrings. I had hauby NQ at 59. I got my first sniper at 45. I stopped multiple time to get my gear. A little luck with things helped out, but overall I was able to have the best or near the best gear for my level. I think I dinged my first 75 job about 10 months after starting.

I think it took a bit over a year to ding 75 on my first job.

Oh, and I made about 80k that year at work if I remember right, but I can pull up my taxes if you'd like me to verify.

I am not trying to bash you. It was a question out of honest curiosity. All I am trying to say is that everyone on the game moves at their own pace. I did not whore my way to 75. I busted my ass to get to 75. I will admit, I should have stopped and obtained the gear that I needed before moving further, but I was caught up in the moment of getting my first level 75 job. That being said, my time on the game, which I stated in my last post is less than a year, has been spent helping out my friends, more than it has been focused on my character becoming better. Yes, my gear is under par compared to a lot of other people, and I am not proud of that fact. But you bash my gear thinking that I make no effort what so ever to improve myself ingame, when infact I do. It may not be at the pace that you would call "elite" or even average for that matter. But I am trying, and in my opinion, that is all that matters. My whole point is this, take the time to learn about the person you are criticizing before you make an assumption about them.

Whoring to 75 is not improving. Whether you like to admit it or not, getting to 75 without mermans, and snipers, and the overall ability to earn gil to be able to afford these things is just gimp.

Don't feel you are being singled out, there are many worse players than you, at least you have correct gear. At the same time, by 75 you should be able to afford/obtain much of the best gear.

I stopped leveling my DRK at 61 to help the LS I ran get AF coffers and all AF fights, including genkais. I'd get home from work between 5 and 7 and help. If nothing needed to be done, I'd farm. I spent two weeks in Gustav getting obow for my RNG, not leveling past it. I spent two weeks getting 2nd sniper and spike earrings (used to be like 150k each) while my BRD friend went from 55-75.

I could of easily went along, he sent me tells while I was still in his range to party with him, I declined and stayed doing what I did.

I have no clue what goes on in peoples minds to suck to 75, then get to 75 and continue to suck. Have you upgraded any of your gear yet?

I havent upgraded my coral or flame rings yet, but that is what I have been working on. As far as snipers rings, no I dont have them. I have 2 woodsman rings, and have had them since around level 50 or so. I dont know when I last partied with you, but the latest upgrades to my gear have been Optical Hat, Dune Boots, and B. Haidate. Also, I have spent a lot of time meriting my mnk, and almost have it fully merited. I would like to think I am a level or two above the gimp mnk's still running around with rasetsu gear.

You were meriting, had just dinged 75 if I remember right, and its been 2-3 months since then. Woodsmans are fine, though I think you full timed ruby rings, but I could have you mixed up with some other galka MNK.

I personally find it disrespectful for someone to show up without nice gear. Especially people who I know already have level 75jobs, and are just using this one to get merits.

Honestly, no one can judge your merits, and once you're 75 they do more good than spending more time farming for better gear, but the point I was making was that there is no rush to 75, I don't see why people whore their way with sub par or average gear when there are obvious better options.

Yeah, I understand that. But like I said, I am trying. It is taking me a but longer than most to get to where I should be, but I am making an honest attempt. About the woodsman/ruby rings, I do use the ruby most of the time. I have a lot of other +acc gear, but if I dont miss a lot, I just equip the ruby full time. I am starting to think I should just macro in the ruby for my Asuran Fists.

I agree with you, but I think we might have different definitions of nice gear.

Because they probably don't feel like starting at NA PC release and hit 75 only a month ago like I did, probably. If I just gimped it like most people did I'd probably just as pimp as some of the people that boast all kinds of god gear but don't really even know how the game works.

This is the part where many of the aforementioned gimps fail.

This is the part where you prove to be an elitist, along with meeze.

Meeze is the type of guy that thinks everyone should have top notch 100% gear like they play this game loser style. While I myself do have "nice gear", I don't by any means consider it gimp for blms to have stuff like diamond rings and nq staves, especially if it's their first job. If your gear choices are sane, and not horribly outdated, you are not gimp. Not having rare stuff from sea, million gil items, and etc... does not make you gimp.

While I do think some gear is worth stopping to lvl for, some of it isn't, and you can wait till you have the money later. Some people do have limited play hours in this game.

There's nothing wrong with having the best gear or striving for it, I myself am aiming to one day outpace SE on the creation of better BLM items, so I can immediately get "new" ones as they come out (I'm far from the goal =( ), however I don't fault anyone who can't get certain expensive items.

And if you believe everyone around you needs to be a ridillberk, or some other standard that's your choice too, but only make pts with friends or people you know, don't join random pts and get pissed when the war doesn't even have haidates.

Back in the day flames were like 2m each, snipers 600kish. That meant over 5m in rings. Now they are like 400k each across the board, about 1.6m. Not only that, but for the work of buying one flame back in the day, you can have 2 snipers and 2 flames.

These items aren't as hard to get because there are more people who can craft them, and more people supplying mats.

If BLMs were still invited to party, I'd expect them to have HQ ice and thunder somewhere in their 60s.

There isn't much gear to buy for a BLM, and most of it is HQ stalves. Earrings aren't that bad, you get one R/E. Rings are int rings, sorcerers when you enter end game.

I have a lot higher standards for myself, but I definitely think there should be points in time where you should have stuff. But fulltiming ruby rings is gimp, whether its a mental or eq gimpness, it is what it is.

Before I lay down, I think you got me pegged wrong man.

I am not an elitist by far.

If you've seen me around and checked my gear on occasion, you'd know I don't pack all this crazy nice gear.

I'm one of those players snagging nice pieces here and there, and NQing the rest to make sure I'm acceptable or a slight step up from average.

If you're really that curious what kind of almost "noteworthy" gear I possess, I'll be happy to give you a complete rundown in pms man.

I've been playing this game less than a year and put alot of time farming into what few nice items I have, but I am far from being an elitist. I still have yet to get sea, I have zero items from sky aside a GSD that randomly dropped to me, and Suppa if you want to count that...

I'd rather take a gimp friend along than a pimped out prick anyday.

What my statement meant was that many newer, inexperienced or just misguided people will think one thing without proper research behind the effect said item will have on their performance and wind up unintentionally gimping themselves.

This is where their "thinking" is flawed.

You seem like cool people Dave and you really struck a chord with me there calling me an elitist.

I'm not going to bitch for an apology, but I am going to tell you that I good sir am far from being an elitist and far from being able to call some people gimp aside the more extreme circumstances.

If you insist that I am an elitist, you'd probably get a chuckle out of this whole thing once you get a gander at what items I do/don't have bro...

I really don't have it in me right now to put up a good fight and my room is still spinning bro, but I wanted to just make it clear that I am not one of those decked out elitists.

If you still care to have at it with me and call me an elitist because I feel people think without doing the research into what they're thinking about doing, I'll be happy to take this discussion up later.

Was gonna reply to meeze's post, but then Lecreuset made one, so just gonna go guess and say we're arguing different things lol.

I agree full time ruby/flame rings is dumb, I didn't exactly read this thread in depth, and assumed you guys were ragging on people having nq stuff (Though meeze probably was, cause that's how he is =P ).

If what you meant with that was just the gear choices, and not the price quality of it, I misunderstood your statement.

I was telling people that by 75 coral earrings should be mermans, amemets should be +1 or foragers, ruby's should be flames, and you should have acc rings for TP.

Especially when you look at the levels the gear is. Stat rings are level 36/54/72/74. From 54 to 72, there is 18 levels to get the HQ 54 rings, and be good till 74 where you can pretty much sell the two 54 rings and get a flame, then spend another 400k on the second flame. Snipers are level 40, are you telling me someone shouldn't be able to make 800k in 35 levels?

Mermans/corals are level 63, with nothing really to buy for most jobs in these levels, 12 levels to attain 300k to upgrade isn't a lot to ask.

I'm not asking for HQ haubys, or HQ2 rings, or even HQ 72 rings, wait for flames, they're pretty much the same thing, but fuck, show a little pride and effort instead of just zooming to 75 with NQ everywhere.
