Off sick from work and bored and was pondering crap..

..was thinking

Why is it that if a mob has 100 hp left and you do a 1,800 nuke on it , it will still show up as 1,800 not 100? If you were to kill the same mob with a 1000 ws it would show as 100.

Not really an answer to this, unless my thick person hat has made a reappearance on my bonce.

A single hit ws would show the full damage. Multi-hit ws's would stop once the mobs hp is gone, ie if it takes you two swings from rampage to kill the mob, your tp-return will reflect this.

Yup.. not only am I ill for real, I'm also thick in the head today.

<logic> <can I have this?>

if the mob has that much HP left a WS would be a waste anyway. start off the next mob with said TP to take him down that much faster. only thing i can think of that would be the exception is those damn colibri cause they love to use feather tickle at the worst times. with them i use a WS soon as i can. sneaky bastards!

Really depends. In a merit situation where everyone is subbing NIN, this'll probably work out. Before then, a melee using a weaponskill at the start of the fight will typically get himself killed nigh-immediately, since it's relatively difficult for the tank to grab sufficient hate so early in the fight.

Personally, if I have 100+ TP near the end of a fight, I like to try to WS when the mob is close to dead (such that there would be about a round melee hits for everyone after the WS to finish it off). It takes a little while to get a handle on when you should WS for this, but it keeps one from becoming the proverbial 'MP Sponge' at the beginning of the next fight, and still gives the full effect of the TP.

It makes perfect sense.

See, nukes are 1 hit. So no matter what hp, the mob will take full damage.

Some ws are multi hits. So if a ws has 4 hits, but the first hit is strong enough to deplete the mobs hp, the rest of the hits wont show since the mobs hp will already be 0.

lol It was already explained. What you quoted was him saying he understood, but should have figured it out himself lol

Correct

Just letting you know that I have no clue as to who it is in your avatar (It may even be you) but it's the scariest thing i've seen in months.

It's because we can't figure out if it's "mana" or "magic" in "MP", but we KNOW "WS" means "weapon skill." SE figures "hey, we'll let it do a shitton of damage regardless, just because nobody can figure out our super-secret code for the acronym "MP".

:banghead3:

I'm still reeling from reading through all that mess.
